July and August are the best months to visit, when ocean water temperatures peak, lifeguards are on duty, and the beach is fully staffed. Late June and early September offer warm days, quieter sand, and easier parking, making them strong shoulder-season picks for RVers. Spring and fall visits are possible for walking the beach, but water is cold and most services are closed. Winter access is limited and facilities are shut down.

Clam Harbour Beach is a long crescent of fine white sand with supervised swimming during summer months. The beach slopes gently, which makes it suitable for families, though Atlantic water temperatures remain cool even at peak season.
The park hosts a nationally known sandcastle and sand sculpture competition each August that transforms the beach into a gallery of elaborate sand art. Expect heavy crowds and arrive early for parking.
A wooden boardwalk leads from the main parking lot over the dunes to the sand, making the beach easy to reach from an RV. Visitors can walk the full length of the crescent beach at low tide for wide open ocean views.
A developed picnic area with tables sits near the parking lot and change houses. It is a convenient lunch stop for RV day-trippers exploring Marine Drive.
The beach, dunes, and adjacent salt marsh support shorebirds, gulls, and seabirds, while the tide line offers shells, sea glass, and driftwood. Early morning and shoulder-season visits are best for quiet wildlife viewing.
Clam Harbour Beach pairs well with a drive along Nova Scotia's Marine Drive, which hugs the Eastern Shore through fishing villages, coves, and lighthouses. RVers can chain the visit with stops at Taylor Head Provincial Park and Martinique Beach Provincial Park.
Camper van was absolutely amazing. Comfortable bed, tons of light, fridge, water and everything you could possibly need! Gas wasn’t much more than an suv would be. Dean is a fantastic guy and made we knew everything about the van before heading out and was great dealing with little hiccups along the way. Would recommend this way of travel (and renting through Dean) to anyone!

The experience with the RV was fantastic, dealing with Dean was great and he was very helpful. I would definitely take a trip like this again!

Caroline and her husband were wonderful hosts! They took the time to get us up to speed on their van, and point out what we needed to know. The van came well equipped with stove, camping chairs and even an awning! We great enjoyed our trip in their van!

We were looking for the ability to be flexible on our trip and this met all the requirements! It was a fabulous way to travel! I would highly recommend using Caroline's camper van to anyone!

Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park sits along Nova Scotia's Marine Drive (Route 7 and Route 374), about 80 km east of Halifax and roughly a 1 hour 15 minute drive via Highway 107 and Route 7. From Dartmouth it is a straightforward coastal route with no tunnels, major mountain passes, or weight-restricted bridges, though the final stretch on Clam Harbour Road is a narrow, winding rural road where large Class A motorhomes should drive slowly and watch for soft shoulders. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), about 90 minutes away by road. Oversized RVs should use the main paved day-use lot rather than attempting to turn around on side roads.
