Mid-June through early September is the prime window, when lifeguards are typically on duty, the water in St. Margarets Bay warms into comfortable swimming range, and coastal weather is at its most settled. July and August offer the warmest temperatures but also the busiest parking lots on sunny weekends. Late June and the first two weeks of September are good shoulder-season choices for RVers wanting thinner crowds and easier staging in the lot, though swimming supervision may end after Labour Day.

Cleveland Beach is a sandy Atlantic beach on St. Margarets Bay with supervised swimming during the summer season. The sheltered bay keeps water temperatures comparatively mild for Nova Scotia, making it one of the more popular family swim spots on the South Shore.
The day-use area has picnic tables and room to stroll the sand. It is a practical lunch stop for RV travellers driving the Lighthouse Route between Halifax and the South Shore.
Peggy's Cove and its iconic lighthouse are roughly 30 km from Cleveland Beach via Highway 333. The village has larger paved lots that accommodate RVs better than the cove road itself.
The nearby village of Hubbards offers a farmers market, coastal views, and access to the Aspotogan Peninsula loop on Highway 329. The route is a scenic drive with several pull-offs suitable for a quick stop in an RV.
The towns of Chester and Mahone Bay lie about 30 to 45 minutes west along Highway 103. Both are walkable historic communities with waterfront views and public parking large enough for most motorhomes.
St. Margarets Bay is a popular paddling destination with relatively protected waters and several launch points near Hubbards. Rentals and guided tours operate from nearby communities during the summer.
Halifax is roughly a 45 minute drive from the park via Highway 103. The waterfront, Citadel Hill, and Halifax Public Gardens are all accessible, though visitors should park RVs at perimeter lots rather than downtown streets.
Camper van was absolutely amazing. Comfortable bed, tons of light, fridge, water and everything you could possibly need! Gas wasn’t much more than an suv would be. Dean is a fantastic guy and made we knew everything about the van before heading out and was great dealing with little hiccups along the way. Would recommend this way of travel (and renting through Dean) to anyone!

Caroline and her husband were wonderful hosts! They took the time to get us up to speed on their van, and point out what we needed to know. The van came well equipped with stove, camping chairs and even an awning! We great enjoyed our trip in their van!

We were looking for the ability to be flexible on our trip and this met all the requirements! It was a fabulous way to travel! I would highly recommend using Caroline's camper van to anyone!

Cleveland Beach Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park is on Nova Scotia Highway 329 near Fox Point, about 50 km (roughly a 45 minute drive) southwest of Halifax via Highway 103, and about 15 minutes from Hubbards. From the Halifax direction, take Exit 6 off Highway 103 and follow signs toward St. Margarets Bay. Roads in the area are standard two-lane coastal highways with no tunnels or major mountain grades, but the park entrance road and parking lot are compact, so larger Class A motorhomes and long fifth-wheels should approach slowly and consider unhooking toads at a nearby pull-off. Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, roughly 80 km away.
