The CCC stone arch bridge over Byrd Lake is the park's signature landmark and one of the largest masonry structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Visitors can walk across the bridge and view the dam from adjacent picnic areas and trails. Parking near the restaurant and day-use area accommodates most RVs if sites are chosen carefully.
This easy loop circles Byrd Lake, passing the stone bridge, fishing piers, and quiet shoreline coves. It is a favorite short hike for campers and is accessible from the main day-use parking areas. The trail is mostly level and suitable for casual walkers.
Pioneer Trail winds through hardwood forest and along small streams on the plateau, offering a longer hiking option for visitors wanting to leave the lakeshore. It connects with other park trails to create loops of varying length. Trailhead parking is available within the state park.
Byrd Lake is a 50-acre reservoir stocked for bass, bluegill, and catfish, with bank access, fishing piers, and a seasonal boat dock. Paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes can be rented in the warmer months. A Tennessee fishing license is required for anglers 13 and older.
The Bear Trace is a Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole public golf course located within the state park. It is one of the signature courses of the Tennessee Golf Trail and welcomes walk-up and reserved tee times. A clubhouse and pro shop are available on site.
Just outside the park, the Homesteads Tower Museum tells the story of the New Deal-era Cumberland Homesteads community that the park was built to serve. Exhibits and a climbable stone tower provide historical context for the CCC-built structures inside the park. The site has a paved parking lot that can accommodate RVs.
Shaded picnic tables, grills, and shelters line the shore of Byrd Lake near the historic stone bridge. It is an easy stop for lunch between hikes and offers some of the most photographed views in the park. Day-use parking is close to the restaurant and bathhouse facilities.

Cumberland Mountain State Park, TN, United States
The park sits about 10 miles south of Interstate 40 at Crossville, Tennessee, reached via US 127 South and TN Highway 419. Knoxville is roughly 70 miles east (about 1 hour 15 minutes), Nashville is about 110 miles west (around 2 hours), and Chattanooga is about 75 miles south. There are no major tunnels or extreme grades on the main approach from I-40, but the final park roads are narrow and winding with tight turns near the historic stone bridge, so large Class A rigs and long trailers should take them slowly. McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
