The park operates from mid-May through late October, making late spring through early fall the best visiting window for RV camping. Peak season runs June through August when weather is warmest, though June and July can see higher crowds. September offers excellent shoulder-season conditions with milder temperatures, fewer visitors, and reliable access to trails and water activities. May provides pleasant weather as campgrounds reopen and temperatures warm for hiking and outdoor recreation.

The park features two sandy beaches ideal for swimming and water recreation. The main beach in the day-use area offers ample parking and facilities, while the camper's beach at Two Rivers Campground provides a family-friendly environment with shallow water.
The Ottawa River offers excellent fishing opportunities with approximately a dozen species available including walleye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and panfish. Boat launches provide convenient access for both shore and watercraft anglers.
The park provides boat launch facilities for motorized and non-motorized watercraft. Visitors can enjoy canoeing and kayaking on the Ottawa River and Carp River, with rental services available for those without personal equipment.
