July through early September is the prime window, when alpine trails are snow-free, roads to trailheads are fully open, and meadows are in bloom. During July and August, the alpine areas of the park offer hikers an opportunity to view alpine flowers in bloom. Late June and mid-September are good shoulder-season options for RV travel with cooler temperatures and thinner crowds, though lingering snow can persist on higher trails into July. Winter access is limited because Rubble Creek road to the Black Tusk and Garibaldi Lake parking lot is not plowed, and the road is not ploughed off Highway 99 between the turn-off and the gate to the Daisy Lake Dam.
Rubble Creek access road not plowed; backcountry is advanced ski touring only
Access roads to Garibaldi Lake remain unplowed; winter conditions throughout the park
Deep snow above 1,000 m; trailhead access roads may still be unplowed
Lower trails begin to clear; alpine remains snow-covered
Snow lingers on higher trails; increased black bear activity in Cheakamus Lake area
Alpine snow melting; some high routes may still be impassable early in the month
Peak season, alpine wildflowers in bloom; reserve backcountry sites well in advance
Peak hiking conditions; campgrounds at Garibaldi Lake and Taylor Meadows fill quickly
High black bear activity in the Diamond Head area, especially around Red Heather
Early snow possible at elevation; shorter days and cooler nights
Winter conditions return; trailhead access roads no longer plowed
Main Rubble Creek access road is not plowed; winter backcountry experience required
Garibaldi Lake is the signature day hike or overnight trip in the park, a turquoise glacier-fed lake ringed by peaks. The trailhead is reached by turning right off Hwy 99 just after the Rubble Creek Bridge onto a paved road that leads 2.5 km to the Garibaldi Lake parking lot. The parking lot accommodates standard vehicles; oversize RVs should stage at Alice Lake or Brandywine Falls and shuttle in. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/black-tusk-garibaldi-lake-area/
The Black Tusk is a distinctive volcanic spire above Garibaldi Lake and one of the most recognizable summits in the Coast Mountains. BC Parks maintains a trail up to an established viewpoint, and any trails or scrambles beyond this viewpoint are not part of the recognized trail system. Climbing the Black Tusk is not recommended due to loose, unstable rock. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/black-tusk-garibaldi-lake-area/
Cheakamus Lake offers one of the gentlest hikes in the park, following a forested valley floor to a long glacier-fed lake. Glacier-fed Cheakamus Lake lies at elevation 915 metres surrounded by mountains that tower to 1,600 metres above its thickly forested shoreline. Mountain biking is permitted on the trail as far as the Cheakamus Lake campsites. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/cheakamus-lake-area/
The Diamond Head area is the southwestern gateway to the park and a popular multi-day backcountry destination. It includes Mount Garibaldi at 2,678 metres, Atwell Peak, Opal Cone, Garibaldi Neve, and Mamquam Lake. The trailhead parking lot sits 16 km from the highway at 914 m elevation. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/diamond-head-area/
Wedgemount Lake is a short but very steep hike to a dramatic glacial lake beneath Wedge Mountain. This spectacular glacial lake is circled by Wedgemount and Armchair Glaciers. The upper part of the trail provides a view of a waterfall where Wedgemount Creek tumbles down for almost 300 metres, and the last part of the trail climbs steeply up a boulder-strewn slope that can be slippery when wet. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/wedgemount-lake/
Singing Pass is an alpine traverse that links Whistler Village with the Spearhead Range. The Singing Pass area provides magnificent views of the Fitzsimmons and Spearhead Mountain ranges and Cheakamus Glacier, with slopes sprinkled with wildflowers in the summer. The Resort Municipality of Whistler has designated overnight parking spots for Singing Pass in Day Lot 4, and pay parking is required during peak season. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/singing-pass-area/
Paddling on Garibaldi Lake is a reward for those who backpack gear to the shoreline campground. Canoeing and kayaking are permitted on Cheakamus Lake, Garibaldi Lake, or Glacier Lake, and are not allowed on other lakes in the park. Most of the lakes are glacier fed and extremely cold. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/
The Black Tusk/Garibaldi Lake zone is a classic winter ski touring destination for experienced parties. Black Tusk/Garibaldi Lake is an advanced intermediate to advanced backcountry ski touring area, and many people ski across Garibaldi Lake during January and February to the huts on the other side, which are open year-round but only accessible during the winter months. bcparks.ca/garibaldi-park/black-tusk-garibaldi-lake-area/
Every aspect of our rental experience was amazing. From the communication with our host to the amenities of the trailer, everything exceeded our expectations! We will definitely be renting again in the future.

What a stellar experience. First, I am not a camper at all. The drop off and pickup of Dave’s trailer was efficient and on time, and the trailer orientation was brief as it was very easy to work all of the stuff in the trailer. The beds are super comfortable, we slept like rocks! The toilet worked very well, and we never smelt anything awful from it. We didn’t use any of the kitchen stuff, although we were delighted to have a good sized fridge inside and a bar fridge outside. All in all, would very highly recommend.

This rental was perfect. The owner was flexible on delivery and pick up. It was amazing to have the trailer delivered and set up and picked up as we were busy with our daughters wedding so the stress of setting up a trailer for camping was something we didn't have to deal with.

We loved arriving to our campsite and finding the RV site up and ready to live in. Owners were very responsive to any questions or issues we had.

Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park runs along Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway, with trailheads reached by short side roads off the highway. The Rubble Creek turn-off for Garibaldi Lake is 37 km north of Squamish or 19 km south of Whistler, with a paved road leading 2.5 km to the parking lot. For Cheakamus Lake, turn right off Hwy 99 48 km north of Squamish or 2.5 km south of Whistler at Function Junction, then follow a logging road 7.5 km to the parking lot. Highway 99 includes steep grades and tight curves through Howe Sound north of Vancouver, so RV drivers should check brakes, watch for posted truck slow-down zones, and allow extra time. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, roughly a 1.5 to 2 hour drive to Squamish and 2 to 2.5 hours to Whistler.
