Late June through early September delivers the warmest, driest weather and the best lake swimming, with daytime highs typically in the 60s to low 70s Fahrenheit. July and August are peak season, so reservations fill far in advance and weekends are busiest. Shoulder months of May, June, and September offer milder crowds while the campground remains fully open. Winter trips are possible but expect frequent rain, wind off the Pacific, and short daylight hours.

Cleawox Lake is a small freshwater lake within the park, framed by sand dunes that drop directly into the water. The day-use area offers a swim beach, picnic tables, and seasonal canoe and paddleboard rentals. RV parking is available at the day-use lot.
Woahink Lake is the larger of the park's two lakes and sits on the east side of Highway 101. It supports motorized boating, water-skiing, and fishing for trout and bass from a boat ramp. The ramp area accommodates trucks with boat trailers.
The park borders the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, a vast stretch of shifting sand along the central Oregon coast. Visitors can hike, sandboard, or join guided OHV tours from nearby staging areas outside the state park boundary. fs.usda.gov/r06/siuslaw/recreation
Short trails lead from the campground out to the open dunes, giving direct walking access to the Oregon Dunes without driving. The route crosses soft sand, so footing is workout-grade.
Self-guided walks through the day-use area showcase rock walls, picnic shelters, and the Cleawox bathhouse built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a historic district reflecting Depression-era park construction. npgallery.nps.gov/AssetDetail/NRIS/84000473
The towering dunes inside and adjacent to the park are a top spot for sandboarding and sledding. Rentals are available in nearby Florence. Park near the day-use area or campground access points and walk in.
Old Town Florence sits about three miles north of the park along the Siuslaw River. The walkable district offers seafood restaurants, shops, and views of the historic Siuslaw River Bridge. Larger RVs should use perimeter parking.

Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, OR, United States
The park sits on U.S. Highway 101, roughly 3 miles south of Florence, Oregon. From Eugene it is about 65 miles via Highway 126 west, a drive of around 1 hour and 30 minutes that crosses the Coast Range with moderate grades and curves; from Portland it is roughly 180 miles, about 3 hours and 30 minutes. RV drivers should watch for narrow shoulders, fog, and high coastal winds along Highway 101, and be cautious on the winding sections of Highway 126. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Eugene Airport (EUG).
