Late spring through early fall is the prime window, with May and June offering warm days, green grasslands, and smaller crowds before the peak summer rush. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, ideal for river swimming and long evenings, though the extremely hot, dry climate can result in overexposure to the sun. September is an excellent shoulder-season option with cooler nights, fewer mosquitoes, and reliably open roads for RV travel. The park gate is closed January 1 or when inaccessible by ice and snow, and reopens when roads are clear, so winter visits are not recommended.

A sheltered natural swimming area on the beach in front of the campground. During lower water levels on the river, there is a small swimming hole on the beach that is naturally sectioned off from the main river and provides a more protected swimming opportunity. Use caution as the waters of the Thompson River are dangerously swift especially during high water, and there are no lifeguards on duty. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Paddle from a launch point right inside the park. Canoeing and kayaking opportunities are available in the area, both vessels can be easily launched from the park, and canoeists should check the grade of the river before attempting navigation. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Cast for trout, steelhead, and salmon from the shoreline. Fish species in the Thompson River include trout, steelhead, and salmon. Anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Spot colourful songbirds in the campground's shaded greenery. The campground area is an oasis in this dry environment and attracts many species of birds, including the Western Tanager, Mountain Bluebird and Northern Oriole during summer months. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Explore one of BC's rare low-elevation desert landscapes on foot. There are a few undesignated trails used by visitors in the vicinity of the campground; caution should be used when hiking, watching out for prickly pear cactus and, during March to June, for ticks. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Tour a preserved 19th-century roadhouse and working ranch a short drive from the campground. The park is a popular base camp for visitors touring historic Hat Creek Ranch and Ashcroft Manor, both nearby. The site offers wagon rides, First Nations cultural experiences, and interpretive exhibits. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Visit one of the oldest surviving ranch complexes in the BC Interior, just down Highway 1. The park is a popular base camp for visitors touring historic Hat Creek Ranch and Ashcroft Manor, both nearby. The heritage site features a tea house, gift shop, and pioneer buildings. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/
Watch freight trains roll through the Thompson Valley from the park. Both CNR and CPR railway tracks run by the park and provide an attraction to train-buffs. bcparks.ca/juniper-beach-park/

Owners were very nice and accommodating. Everything worked without a hitch other than some small things that were negligible. Would definitely rent again!!!

This was an enjoyable RV to drive and to stay in. It is advertised as a 2014 but is a 1998. The host left extra towels in the RV which wasn't part of the reservation and I really appreciated that. There was coffee, tea and sugar in the RV as well which was a nice touch. It was very clean.

Juniper Beach Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park sits directly off Highway 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) on the north shore of the Thompson River. It is 19 km east of Cache Creek on Highway 1, with Cache Creek and Savona as the closest communities. Kamloops is roughly 70 km east (about a 45-minute drive), and Vancouver is approximately 350 km southwest (about 4.5 hours via the Fraser Canyon). RV drivers should plan for steep grades and winding sections through the Fraser Canyon between Hope and Cache Creek, watch for strong crosswinds in the open Thompson Valley, and note summer wildfire advisories. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is Kamloops Airport (YKA), with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) serving as a larger hub.
