Juniper Beach Provincial Park sits on the north shore of the Thompson River, 19 km east of Cache Creek along Highway 1 in British Columbia's Thompson region. Established in 1989, the park protects one of BC's few undisturbed low-elevation grassland ecosystems, set against a striking desert landscape of sagebrush, prickly pear cactus, and juniper trees shaped by post-glacial geology.
The campground is well-equipped for RV travellers, offering 30-amp electrical hookups, water hookups, a dump station, showers, toilets, picnic tables, fire pits with firewood available, grills, and a playground — ideal for families and extended stays.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to explore: swimming in the Thompson River's natural swimming hole, canoeing and kayaking on trout- and salmon-rich waters, hiking on park trails, and birdwatching for species such as Western Tanagers and Mountain Bluebirds. Train spotters appreciate the nearby CNR and CPR railway lines running alongside the park.
Conveniently positioned along the Trans-Canada Highway, Juniper Beach makes an excellent overnight stop or multi-day base. Nearby historic sites include Hat Creek Ranch and Ashcroft Manor, while the communities of Cache Creek and Savona are just a short drive away. A rare desert escape in the heart of British Columbia's interior.
