Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, the best lake swimming on Kalamalka Lake, and peak waterskiing conditions, which also means the busiest campground. May, early June, and September are excellent shoulder months for RV travel, with cooler nights, fewer crowds, and easier reservations. Lake breezes cool the campground in the evening, and many visitors prefer the picturesque, tranquil spring and fall months when they can enjoy the manicured grounds and view while soaking in the warm Okanagan sun. Winter use is limited as facilities are seasonal.

Boating is the signature activity at Kekuli Bay, launched from the park's own ramp. Kekuli Bay is a boater's destination, Kalamalka is a very popular lake for waterskiing, and the boat launch was heavily used even before the creation of the campground and day-use areas. bcparks.ca/kekuli-bay-park/
The Okanagan Rail Trail runs right through the park for walking and cycling along the lake. The Okanagan Rail Trail bisects the park near the water, providing easy walking or cycling opportunities north and south along Kalamalka Lake. Parking is limited during the summer months and those accessing the trail are asked to consider using the Regional District parking lot above the park, off Highway 97. bcparks.ca/kekuli-bay-park/
Short gravel trails loop through the grasslands above the campground. There are 2.6 km of gravel walking trails through the grasslands around the campground. Watch for raptors and songbirds along the way. bcparks.ca/kekuli-bay-park/
The day-use area offers lake access and picnic space with sweeping views of Kalamalka Lake. The whole campground has fantastic views of Kalamalka Lake. Note that there are no lifeguards on duty at BC Parks. bcparks.ca/kekuli-bay-park/
Kalamalka Lake offers angling for kokanee, rainbow trout, and other species, with easy shoreline and boat access from the park. The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC has a fun, hands on, Learn to Fish Program that will teach basic angling skills to youth under 16 years old. A valid BC freshwater fishing licence is required. bcparks.ca/kekuli-bay-park/
The park's grassland setting provides strong birdwatching opportunities close to camp. There are some bird watching opportunities, especially in the spring and fall. The grasslands surrounding the campground provide habitat for field mice and other food sources for raptors like the red-listed Prairie falcon, and there is a nest platform north of the playground visible on the drive into the park. bcparks.ca/kekuli-bay-park/
Just across the lake, Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park offers extensive hiking, beaches, and viewpoints. Nestled along the Coldstream Valley bordering the District of Coldstream, this fine example of North Okanagan grassland is dotted with ponderosa pine and groves of Douglas fir. There is a viewing platform atop Rattlesnake Point with eight benches situated to make the most of the spectacular view. bcparks.ca/kalamalka-lake-park/

We had a great trip in Osoyoos thanks to Bjorn and his trailer. The trailer is in good condition and comes with a king bed which was an unexpected highlight of the trip. Bjorn was very helpful throughout the booking and delivery process and communicated with us every step of the way. Very happy with our experience and we would absolutely rent from Bjorn again.

Kekuli Bay Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park is located 11 km south of Vernon, off Highway 97, and on the west side of Kalamalka Lake. From Kelowna the drive is roughly 50 km (about 45 minutes) north on Highway 97, and from Kamloops it is about 120 km (1 hour 45 minutes) south on Highways 5 and 97. The park boundary is 2 km from the Highway 97 turn-off and the campground is 1 km beyond that, and the highway turn-off is well signed. RV drivers should note the steep, winding descent from the highway down to the campground and lakeshore; Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips.
