July and August offer the warmest, driest weather on central Vancouver Island, with long daylight hours ideal for hiking and swimming at Cameron Lake. June and September are strong shoulder-season choices for RVers, with cooler temperatures, lighter crowds, and generally open highway conditions on Highway 4. Spring brings high water and powerful falls but wetter trails, while late fall and winter are rainy and quiet, with reduced services in the campground.

This easy loop trail from the day-use area delivers views of both the upper and lower waterfalls on the Little Qualicum River. A lookout point along the way offers scenic river and falls views. Trails leave from the campground and day-use area and wind through old-growth and second-growth forest. bcparks.ca/little-qualicum-falls-park/
Cameron Lake is the designated swimming spot for park visitors, located about 10 minutes west of the campground on Highway 4. The wide pullout and day-use parking accommodate RVs for a swim, picnic, or paddle stop. bcparks.ca/little-qualicum-falls-park/
Cameron Lake is a popular windsurfing destination thanks to a wind funnel created by the surrounding mountains. Launch is easiest from the Beaufort day-use area at the lake's west end. bcparks.ca/little-qualicum-falls-park/
Cameron Lake is one of the few lakes in British Columbia known to have brown trout, along with other freshwater species. A BC freshwater fishing licence is required. bcparks.ca/little-qualicum-falls-park/
About six kilometres of trails meander through old-growth and second-growth forest along the Little Qualicum River. Paths leave directly from the campground, making them ideal for a pre-breakfast or after-dinner stroll for RV campers. bcparks.ca/little-qualicum-falls-park/
Cathedral Grove's old-growth Douglas-fir stand lies a short drive west on Highway 4 and is a popular day trip from the Little Qualicum Falls campground. Roadside parking is tight, so arrive early with an RV or use the larger pullouts.
The nearby communities of Coombs, Parksville, and Qualicum Beach offer markets, bakeries, and oceanfront beaches within a 20 to 30 minute drive of the campground. This makes an easy resupply and sightseeing loop for RV travellers. bcparks.ca/little-qualicum-falls-park/
We loved our trip up Vancouver Island, and across to Quadra and Cortes islands too. Having an RV , along with our bikes (we brought our hitch bike rack), meant we had a lot of flexibility. Our little dogs had a blast too. At the pickup, Jessica explained how everything worked, and urged us to reach out with any questions during our trip. When we did have a question, she was very quick to respond. Returning the RV was also very easy, and Jessica was flexible with the time. She appreciated that we returned the RV clean. Would absolutely recommend Jessica and her RV to anyone considering a trip on Vancouver Island.

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park sits about 19 km west of Parksville on Highway 4, roughly a 20 minute drive, and about 50 km (under an hour) northwest of Nanaimo. From Victoria, the drive is roughly 170 km or about 2 hours 15 minutes via the Inland Island Highway (Highway 19) and Highway 4. RV drivers should note that Highway 4 is a winding mountain route with grades and curves west of the park toward Port Alberni, so larger rigs should drive cautiously, and the nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Nanaimo Airport (YCD), with Victoria International (YYJ) as a larger alternative.
