Spring, from March through May, is the most comfortable window for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer mosquitoes than summer. Fall, from late September through November, is another strong shoulder season as hurricane risk tapers off and beach weather holds. Summer brings heat, afternoon thunderstorms, and peak crowds, while winter stays mild and quiet, ideal for snowbirds seeking an uncrowded beach base.

Little Talbot Island offers nearly five miles of undeveloped Atlantic shoreline reached by short boardwalks from day-use lots. The beach is popular for swimming, shelling, sunbathing, and surf fishing. Parking areas accommodate trucks and tow vehicles; motorhomes fit in the larger day-use lot.
The Island Hiking Trail is a roughly four-mile loop through maritime hammock, dune scrub, and beach. It crosses several distinct coastal habitats and returns along the surf line, making it a signature day hike at the park.
A kayak and canoe launch on the river side of the island provides access to tidal creeks and salt marshes. Paddlers often spot dolphins, manatees, wading birds, and roseate spoonbills. Rentals are available from a concessionaire near the park.
Anglers fish from the Atlantic surf for whiting, pompano, and red drum, or from the Fort George River for flounder, sheepshead, and redfish. A valid Florida saltwater license is required for most species.
The Timucuan area preserves one of the last unspoiled coastal wetlands on the Atlantic Coast, with salt marshes, coastal dunes, and hardwood hammocks that support abundant wildlife. Visitors frequently see shorebirds, ospreys, bobcats, river otters, and gopher tortoises. Dawn and dusk are the most productive viewing windows.
Just north of Little Talbot across a short bridge, Big Talbot Island's Boneyard Beach is famous for weathered driftwood oaks along the shore. A short trail from the Bluffs parking area leads down to the beach. The lot accepts standard RVs and tow vehicles.
Kingsley Plantation, on nearby Fort George Island within the Timucuan Preserve, includes Fort Caroline and Kingsley Plantation, and is a short drive from the campground. The site preserves the oldest surviving plantation house in Florida and interprets the lives of its enslaved workers. Parking accommodates smaller motorhomes; larger rigs should tour via tow vehicle.

Terry and his wife were awesome! They let us look at the rv before we booked it. Terry took the time to answer any questions we had. Terry and his wife went over everything before we left. Return was easy too. Definitely recommend this rv to rent plenty of room, nice and clean plus Terry is always there to answer your questions.

Our first time renting an RV and we didn’t know what to expect. Delivery of the RV was prompt and Big Jeff set everything up for us. Many of the items we brought were already there for use which was really great. I’m particular about our pillows and towels so we brought those along with our toiletries but everything else was there! Fantastic experience and great service with the delivery, setup and tear down. Would highly recommend.

Little Talbot Island State Park, FL, United States
The park sits on Highway A1A about 17 miles northeast of downtown Jacksonville, roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive. From Interstate 95, RVers typically exit at Heckscher Drive (SR 105) and follow the Buccaneer Trail east to A1A. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Jacksonville International Airport, about 25 miles west. No tunnels or steep mountain grades are involved, but the A1A approach crosses several low bridges, so drivers of tall Class A motorhomes should verify rig height before departure.
