Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and good trail conditions. April and May bring wildflowers across the cedar glades, while October delivers color in the hardwood forest and cooler paddling weather on Percy Priest Lake. Summer is hot and humid but ideal for swimming and boating, though popular areas fill quickly on weekends. Winter visits are quieter, with bare-tree lake views and open trails, but occasional ice storms can briefly affect park roads.

Couchville Lake Trail is a paved loop of roughly 2.2 miles that circles a small, scenic lake inside the park. The flat, accessible path is popular with families and offers consistent water views, benches, and fishing access points.
Volunteer Trail is an out-and-back hiking route that follows the shoreline of J. Percy Priest Lake for several miles. It leads to primitive backcountry campsites and delivers some of the park's best lake views.
Bryant Grove Trail runs along the lake between the main park area and the Bryant Grove day-use area. The route passes through cedar glades and hardwood forest and can be combined with shoreline exploration.
Jones Mill is a singletrack mountain biking area on the east side of the park with a network of loops suited to a range of skill levels. Riders can string together shorter or longer outings from the trailhead parking area.
J. Percy Priest Lake is a large Army Corps reservoir that offers open-water paddling, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Long Hunter provides boat launches and shoreline access for put-in and take-out.
The park's designated swim beach and lakeside picnic shelters make a good base for a day on the water. Picnic spots are spread between the main day-use area and Bryant Grove, with nearby parking for trailers.
Anglers come to Percy Priest Lake for bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish from shore or by boat. A valid Tennessee fishing license is required, and shoreline access is available at multiple points within the park.

Long Hunter State Park, TN, United States
The park sits about 20 miles east of downtown Nashville via Interstate 40 and Mount Juliet Road, roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive depending on traffic. From Murfreesboro it is about 25 miles north, and from Lebanon about 15 miles southwest. Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the closest major airport, making this a convenient fly-and-rent destination. RV drivers should note that Nashville-area interstates are busy at peak hours, and the narrow park roads inside Long Hunter favor smaller rigs and tow vehicles over very large motorhomes.
