Late spring through early fall is generally the most comfortable window, with warm, dry weather from May through September and long daylight hours for river recreation. Summer is peak season for wind sports and boating, so sites fill quickly on weekends and reservations are recommended. Shoulder seasons in April and October bring cooler temperatures, lighter crowds, and easier same-week bookings, though gusty winds and occasional rain are common. Winter stays are possible for self-contained RVs but expect cold nights and strong Gorge winds.

The park's Columbia River frontage is a prime launch point for stand-up paddleboarding, kiteboarding, windsurfing, swimming, and other water activities. Steady afternoon winds through the Gorge make it a reliable spot for sail-powered sports all summer. fs.usda.gov/r06/columbiarivergorge/recreation/columbia-river-washington-shoreline-access
A paved boat ramp and dock at Maryhill provide direct Columbia River access for powerboats, drift boats, and anglers. The reach is known for salmon, steelhead, walleye, smallmouth bass, and sturgeon fishing in season. parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/maryhill-state-park

About 25 miles west on SR 14, Columbia Hills protects petroglyphs, pictographs, and the Dalles Mountain Ranch wildflower trails. The historic Maryhill Loops Road is a scenic, winding early-1900s road above the park, open to pedestrians and cyclists on posted event days. RVers can view and photograph the loops from pull-offs along US 97. maryhillmuseum.org
Jesse was always available to assist in anything we needed. We took the RV for a ten day trip to Banff and back and the trip went smoothly. I was most impressed with the turning circle of the Winnebago compared with other RVs we have rented in the past. I would recommend this RV to anybody looking for a comfortable road trip and a smooth experience.

Jesse was super responsive and helpful throughout the whole process and even after drop off. There was an issue with the table (we broke it-oops) and we worked through it with no problems.

Maryhill State Park, WA, United States
Maryhill State Park sits just off SR 14 at the north end of the Sam Hill Memorial Bridge, about 100 miles east of Portland, Oregon (roughly a 2-hour drive via I-84) and about 12 miles south of Goldendale via US 97. From the Seattle area it is approximately 220 miles, a 4 to 4.5 hour drive via I-82 and US 97. RV drivers should plan for steep grades and strong crosswinds on US 97 over the Columbia Hills, and watch for sustained Gorge winds on SR 14 that can buffet tall rigs. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Portland International (PDX), with Yakima Air Terminal a smaller regional option to the north.
