Deschutes River State Recreation Area Campground is a tree-shaded oasis nestled along the Deschutes River where it meets the Columbia River in north-central Oregon. Spanning over 700 acres of high desert terrain, this campground offers a mix of electrical sites with water hookups, primitive RV and tent sites, and group camping areas — making it a versatile destination for all types of campers, including big rig-friendly sites with paved parking pads. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, picnic tables, and grills. Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities: the park features 6 miles of hiking-only trails with canyon rim views on the Ferry Springs Trail, a 26-mile mountain biking route along the Deschutes River Trail, and 11 miles of horseback riding. Anglers are drawn by world-class steelhead and trout fishing on this designated National Wild and Scenic River, while whitewater rafting through Washout, Rattlesnake, and Moody rapids adds adventure to the mix. The Lower Deschutes Wildlife Area begins just one mile south. Spring wildflowers, mild winters, and dramatic high desert scenery make this Oregon State Park campground a standout stop along the Columbia River corridor. Pets are welcome.
