April through early June and mid-September through October are the best windows for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and vivid spring or fall foliage. Summer brings warm, humid weather and the busiest weekends, when reservations fill quickly thanks to the swim beach and lake activities. Winter is quieter and good for hiking, but expect cold nights and occasional freezes that can affect water hookups. Shoulder-season midweek stays generally offer the easiest site availability.
Cold nights; water hookups may be shut off during hard freezes
Cool and wet; quiet at the campground
Wettest month; wildflowers begin

Cooler evenings; great for RV travel
Fall foliage peaks late month
Quiet; light campground use

The Montgomery Bell Trail is the park's signature backcountry loop, running roughly 11 miles through hardwood forest past historic iron-ore pits and stream crossings. RV travelers can day-hike segments from the main trailhead, which has paved parking suitable for tow vehicles.
Lake Acorn and Lake Woodhaven offer non-motorized boating and bank fishing for bass, bluegill, and catfish. Rental jon boats, kayaks, and canoes are available seasonally at the boat dock, and lot parking accommodates trucks and trailers.
A designated, sand-edged swim beach on Lake Acorn opens during the warm season and is a popular family stop. The day-use lot near the beach is paved with pull-through space for larger vehicles.
The McAdow Memorial marks the spring-side site where the Cumberland Presbyterian Church was founded in 1810. A short, mostly level path from the parking area makes it an easy historical stop for RV visitors.
Stone remnants of Laurel Furnace recall the era when Montgomery Bell ran one of the South's largest iron operations. Interpretive signs and a short side trail off the Wildcat Trail explain the ironworks history.
The Wildcat Trail is a shorter day-hike loop of about 4 miles that links several historic features and lake views. It is a manageable half-day option for campers staying in the park.
Montgomery Bell's 18-hole golf course winds through wooded ridges adjacent to the inn. The clubhouse parking area is easy to reach with a tow vehicle from the campground.
The Three Hickories Nature Trail is a short, family-friendly interpretive loop near the campground. It's a quick before-dinner walk for RV families with kids.
Working with Mark and Julia was excellent! The RV was exactly as described, and the communication was top notch. We would definitely rent from them again!

Montgomery Bell State Park, TN, United States
The park sits along US 70 just east of Dickson, about a 45-minute drive from downtown Nashville (roughly 35 miles east) and about 75 miles from Clarksville. Most RVers arrive via Interstate 40 to exit 172 at Dickson, then follow US 70 east about 7 miles to the park entrance, an easy route with no tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades. Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, roughly 50 miles to the east. Watch for low tree canopy on interior park roads and use the main campground entrance for larger rigs.
