Historic downtown Plymouth is about a 20-minute drive from the park and home to Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II, and a working harbor. Large municipal lots near the waterfront can accommodate trucks and smaller RVs for a half-day visit.

  • Explore the pine barrens ecosystem Easy

The park protects one of the largest pitch pine and scrub oak barrens in the Northeast, a globally rare habitat with unique plants and wildlife. Interpretive signs and ranger programs highlight fire ecology and species such as the eastern box turtle.

How to get to Myles Standish State Park

The park entrance is off Long Pond Road in South Carver, roughly 10 minutes from Exit 3 on Interstate 495 and about 15 minutes from Route 3 near Plymouth. Boston is about 50 miles to the north (around one hour by RV in light traffic), Providence is about 45 miles west, and Cape Cod is 30 to 40 minutes east over the Sagamore or Bourne Bridge. Interior park roads are paved but narrow and winding in spots, so drivers of larger Class A motorhomes and long fifth wheels should take corners slowly and watch for low tree limbs. The nearest major fly-and-rent airport is Boston Logan International, with T.F. Green in Providence a convenient alternative.
