Ojibway Provincial Park, ON, Canada
The park is located 25 kilometres southwest of Sioux Lookout via Highway 72, which is well-maintained and suitable for standard RV travel. Highway 72 connects to Highway 17, the main east-west corridor in northwestern Ontario. Kenora (235 kilometres west) and Dryden (98 kilometres east) serve as alternative access points. Sioux Lookout Airport (YXL), approximately 25 kilometres from the park, is the nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent visitors. Highway 72 to the park is generally passable during the May-September operating season, but winter driving is not recommended due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold.
Mid-May through August offers the best weather and full access to park facilities and activities. July and early August deliver warm, sunny days ideal for swimming and water sports, with average highs around 24-25°C. June and September provide quieter conditions with pleasant temperatures, though the park closes September 13. Plan ahead: the park is completely closed from October through mid-May, when northwestern Ontario experiences severe winter weather unsuitable for RV travel.
