Late June through August offers the warmest lake temperatures and reliable sunshine for swimming, paddling, and beach use. The dry, sunny Okanagan climate provides many recreational opportunities from spring through fall. Shoulder months in May, early June, and September bring fewer crowds and easier reservations, though water temperatures are cooler and the park concession may not be operating. Peak summer weekends fill quickly, so RV travelers should book reservable sites well ahead.

Swimming is the headline activity, with designated swim areas marked by buoys at each campground. There are swim areas for each park marked with swim buoys, the beach is pebbly and not sandy, and there are no lifeguards on duty in BC Parks. Water shoes are recommended for the pebbly shoreline. bcparks.ca/okanagan-lake-park/
Paddling is allowed directly from the park's beaches onto Okanagan Lake. Canoeing and kayaking are allowed on Okanagan Lake. Calm mornings are best before afternoon winds pick up. bcparks.ca/okanagan-lake-park/
A short walking trail links the two campgrounds for stretching the legs without leaving the park. There is a 1 km trail above the landslide zone connecting the two campgrounds. Stay on marked paths to protect fragile soils and avoid snake habitat. bcparks.ca/okanagan-lake-park/
Anglers can fish from shore or boat for the variety of species in the lake. Various freshwater fish can be found in Okanagan Lake, and anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. Check the current freshwater fishing regulations synopsis before heading out. bcparks.ca/okanagan-lake-park/
The lake's size and reliable summer winds support a wide range of motorized and wind-driven sports. Okanagan Lake is popular for a wide variety of water sports including waterskiing, windsurfing, boating, fishing and swimming. Boats can be launched from nearby public ramps along Highway 97. bcparks.ca/okanagan-lake-park/
The planted forest above the lake has matured into rich bird habitat. Today, this area is a natural arboretum and the extensive tree cover is home to various bird types. Look and listen for songbirds, woodpeckers, and other species drawn to the mature ponderosa pine and Douglas fir. bcparks.ca/okanagan-lake-park/
The undeveloped wilderness across the lake is visible from the campgrounds and reachable by boat or road. The landscape across the lake, from beach to skyline, is part of Okanagan Mountain Park, accessible by boat or by driving back through Kelowna. Inside that park, access is only on foot, horseback or bicycle. bcparks.ca/okanagan-mountain-park/

We had a great trip in Osoyoos thanks to Bjorn and his trailer. The trailer is in good condition and comes with a king bed which was an unexpected highlight of the trip. Bjorn was very helpful throughout the booking and delivery process and communicated with us every step of the way. Very happy with our experience and we would absolutely rent from Bjorn again.

Okanagan Lake Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park sits 11 km north of Summerland on Highway 97, roughly 20 minutes from Penticton and about an hour south of Kelowna. The route along Highway 97 is a paved primary highway with no major tunnels, but RV drivers should expect rolling grades and winding sections through the Okanagan hills, plus highway-side campground entrances that require careful turns. The close proximity of the highway and fencing on the uphill side mean some sites are within earshot of traffic. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Kelowna International Airport (YLW), about 70 km north, with Penticton Regional Airport closer for smaller carriers.
