Late June through early September is the best window for RV travel, with warm days, open campground services, and reliable access on the paved and gravel approach road. July and August are the peak months for swimming, boating, and fishing on Premier Lake, so reservations are strongly recommended. Shoulder seasons in May, June, and September offer cooler nights and fewer crowds, and winter camping is permitted in accessible campground areas for anglers interested in ice fishing.

Paddlers can launch canoes, kayaks, and car-top boats into Premier Lake at the Rod and Gun day-use area or at the main boat launch adjacent to the campground. Small watercraft can also be launched into Quartz Lake via an undeveloped access at the north end. bcparks.ca/premier-lake-park/

Premier Ridge, west of the lake, is an important wintering range for elk, whitetail and mule deer, and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. Birders can also spot osprey, eagles, herons, kingfishers, and numerous waterfowl around the park's five lakes. bcparks.ca/premier-lake-park/
Quartz Lake offers a quieter alternative to Premier Lake, with an undeveloped small-craft launch and a pit toilet at the north end. It is a good spot for paddling and picnicking away from the main campground. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/premier/

Premier Lake Provincial Park, BC, Canada
Access is from Highway 93/95, where a well marked turnoff leads east on a 12 km paved and gravel road to the park. Cranbrook sits 72 km south (roughly one hour) and Kimberley is 60 km southwest, while the small communities of Skookumchuck (12 km) and Wasa (16 km further south) are closest. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent is Canadian Rockies International Airport in Cranbrook. RV drivers should note the final gravel section and limited parking for trucks and trailers in the day-use lot; 4x4 and high-clearance vehicles are strongly recommended for the Rod and Gun Club boat launch access road.
