Late spring through early fall, roughly May to October, is the most comfortable time to visit, with mild coastal temperatures, blooming landscapes, and long daylight hours for walking the shoreline paths. Summer brings the warmest weather and the busiest crowds, especially on weekends and holidays. Shoulder seasons in May and September or October offer cooler temperatures, easier parking for larger vehicles, and strong bird activity along the bay. Winter visits are possible for day-use but can be raw and windy on the exposed coastline.
Cold and windy on the bay; park open for day-use but facilities limited.
Winter day-use only; expect icy walkways after storms.
Early spring; muddy conditions possible.
Mild and breezy; good birding along the shoreline.
Pleasant shoulder season with fewer crowds.
Peak season begins; weekends get busy.
Warmest month; arrive early for parking on weekends.
Hot and humid; afternoon thunderstorms possible.
Excellent shoulder-season weather.
Cool and scenic; strong coastal winds.
Late-season day-use; most amenities winding down.
Cold with occasional snow; park open for day-use only.
Paved and gravel paths wind around the park's headland, offering panoramic views of Narragansett Bay. The route is mostly flat and accessible, suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities.
Rocky Point features a pier and open rocky shoreline that provide saltwater fishing access to Narragansett Bay. Anglers commonly target striped bass, bluefish, tautog, and scup, and a Rhode Island saltwater fishing license is required.
Designated overlooks and picnic spots sit atop bluffs with sweeping views across the bay toward Prudence Island. Tables and open lawn areas make this a popular lunch stop for day-trippers.
The park's mix of rocky shore, open lawn, and scrubby edges attracts gulls, cormorants, osprey, and seasonal migrants. Spring and fall are especially productive for shorebirds and waterfowl.
Interpretive signs mark the footprint of the former Rocky Point Amusement Park, a century-old Rhode Island icon. Visitors can stroll past remnants such as the restored arch sign and learn about the site's transformation into public parkland.
Wide grassy fields near the bluffs catch steady bay breezes, making the park a favorite for kite flying, frisbee, and informal family games. Open lawns are free of amusement-park structures today, leaving ample space to spread out.
The western-facing shoreline delivers long views over Narragansett Bay and striking sunset light over the water. Nearby Warwick Neck Light, a historic lighthouse, is visible just south of the park.
We had a fabulous time in this great camper! AR was so easy to communicate with, answered our questions and was very flexible with our plans. We will definitely be planning something in the future with this great camper, my grandkids loved it. A great family experience!

Great communication, RV was in good shape.

Kevin was great in delivering and setting up the unit and going over the “how to”. It was clean - spacious enough to fit our family of 5 - and ran into no issues on our weekend rental. Highly recommended.

My family had a great time camping with Maria and Kevin’s camper. They were very responsive when we needed help and friendly during drop off and pickup. Will book with them again if we don’t have our own camper next year!

Rocky Point State Park, RI, United States
Rocky Point State Park is in Warwick, Rhode Island, off Palmer Avenue near Warwick Neck, about 10 miles south of downtown Providence (roughly 20 minutes) and about 70 miles south of Boston (about 90 minutes via I-95). RV drivers should note that the park itself has a surface parking lot suited to passenger vehicles, so larger motorhomes and trailers may find maneuvering tight, and low tree branches along approach streets can be a concern for tall rigs. There are no major mountain passes or tunnels on the approach, but the I-95 corridor through Providence can be heavy with traffic at peak hours. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport in Warwick, only a few miles from the park.
