Shoulder months of May, September, and early October are excellent for RV travelers seeking cooler nights, thinner crowds, and autumn color in the surrounding hardwoods. Winter visits are possible for day use, but most developed campground services are reduced or closed.

Our experience was great! Kirk couldn’t have been more helpful. I hope to contact him in the future and do this again.

Salamonie Lake State Park, IN, United States
Salamonie Lake sits near Andrews and Lagro in north-central Indiana, roughly 35 miles southwest of Fort Wayne (about 45 minutes) and about 100 miles northeast of Indianapolis (around two hours). Access is primarily from US-24 and State Road 9, then local county roads into Lost Bridge West, Lost Bridge East, and Mount Etna. The terrain is gently rolling farmland with no mountain passes or tunnels, but RV drivers should watch for narrow two-lane county roads and low-clearance rural bridges on some approaches. Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, with Indianapolis International (IND) as a larger alternative.
