Late June through early September offers the warmest and driest weather, with long daylight hours and full access to boating, swimming, and hiking on the Olympic Peninsula. July and August are the busiest months, so reservations fill quickly for waterfront and utility sites. Shoulder seasons in May, early June, and September bring fewer crowds, mild temperatures, and better availability for larger RVs. Winter visits are possible but wetter, cooler, and better suited to self-contained rigs.
Cool and damp; park open year-round for camping, dress for wet weather.

Mild spring weather, good shoulder-season window.

Lavender season in Sequim; demand climbs mid-month.
Peak season; reserve waterfront and utility sites well in advance.
Warmest and driest month; book early.

Walk to the shoreline and dock for views of Sequim Bay and the protected waters leading into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The bay is popular for paddling, fishing, and launching small boats.
Short forested trails loop through the park's second-growth Douglas-fir woodlands. The paths are suitable for casual walkers and families staying in the campground.
Dungeness Spit, about a 20-minute drive from the park, offers a long sandy spit, a historic lighthouse, and prime birdwatching. Located on the northern edge of the Olympic Peninsula just outside Sequim, the refuge is a haven for wild birds and was declared a National Wildlife Refuge in 1915. nps.gov/places/000/dungeness-national-wildlife-refuge.htm
Hurricane Ridge delivers sweeping subalpine views of the Olympic Mountains and Strait of Juan de Fuca. The drive from Sequim Bay climbs a steep mountain road, so smaller tow vehicles are recommended over large motorhomes. nps.gov/olym/
The paved Olympic Discovery Trail passes through the Sequim area and connects communities across the northern Olympic Peninsula. Cyclists and walkers can access sections close to the park for flat, scenic outings.
The park's boat launch and moorage give RV campers direct access to Sequim Bay for crabbing, salmon fishing, and paddling. A Washington state fishing or shellfish license is required for most harvest activities.
Trailheads in the Buckhorn Wilderness and surrounding Olympic National Forest sit a short drive from the park. The wilderness offers opportunities for backpacking, hiking, and mountain climbing on a network of trails. fs.usda.gov/recarea/olympic/
A special long weekend of local van living. Loved all of the special considerations including camp chairs, Bluetooth speakers, treats and comfortable bed. Savio exceeded all expectations for prompt and helpful support for anything that came up. Would highly recommend renting this van.

Savio’s van was amazing. It had everything we needed for our 10 day trip around Vancouver Island. The layout of the van and everything included in it was well thought out and easy to use. Savio helped us throughout the trip with suggestions of places to eat and sleep, as well as fun places to check out. I highly recommend renting his van!

Sequim Bay State Park, WA, United States
The park sits directly off US Highway 101 about 4 miles east of Sequim and roughly 17 miles east of Port Angeles. From Seattle, RV travelers typically drive about 2.5 to 3 hours via the Bainbridge Island or Edmonds-Kingston ferry, then follow US 101 west along Hood Canal. Reservation-only vehicle ferry sailings and low-clearance areas on some Puget Sound routes should be checked in advance, especially for tall Class A rigs and trailers. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), with William R. Fairchild International in Port Angeles available for regional flights.
