Late fall through early spring, roughly November to April, is the most comfortable window for RV travel, with lower humidity, fewer mosquitoes, and mild daytime temperatures. Winter months bring peak demand from snowbirds, so campground reservations fill early. Summer is hot and stormy with daily afternoon thunderstorms, though the 72 degree spring water stays refreshing year-round. Shoulder seasons in October and early May offer a good balance of warm weather and easier site availability.

The park's signature activity is a guided glass-bottom boat tour over the Silver River headsprings. Operated from the main concession area, the tours pass over the main spring boils and submerged features while a captain narrates local history and ecology. RV-friendly parking is available near the main entrance.
Kayaking or canoeing down the Silver River is one of the best ways to spot wildlife such as alligators, turtles, otters, and the park's resident rhesus macaques. Rentals are available at the main concession, or paddlers can launch their own craft. The clear, slow-moving water is suitable for beginners.
A self-guided walk through themed gardens, historic exhibits, and the old Silver Springs attraction grounds. Paved paths make it accessible for most visitors and a relaxed option on hot afternoons.
A county-run museum on park grounds featuring Florida natural history, fossils, and Native American artifacts from the region. Adjacent cracker-village exhibits interpret early Florida settler life. Hours are limited, so check ahead before driving in.
Several miles of marked nature trails wind through hardwood swamp, hammock, and sandhill habitat on the park's south side near the campground. Trails are mostly flat and shaded, good for birding and a morning stretch from camp.
Paved park roads and designated off-road routes make the park a pleasant spot for casual cycling between the campground, main entrance, and river access points. Bring your own bikes or check concession availability.
The park sits at the western edge of Ocala National Forest, home to additional first-magnitude springs like Juniper, Alexander, and Silver Glen. Flat paved roads make it an easy day trip in a tow vehicle or bikes loaded on the RV.
Great RV and very responsive!

This was our first time renting a camper, we chose MiKasta owned by Alberta. I have to say, that this was one of the most enjoyable times we had. Alberta was a gentleman and awesome host. The camper and service was top notch! We stayed at Santos camp ground which a group of us do every year during Thanksgiving and I can tell you, we will be back and requesting MiKasta again next year for sure.

Silver Springs State Park, FL, United States
The park sits along State Road 40 about 20 minutes east of downtown Ocala, roughly a 90-minute drive from Orlando and about two hours from Jacksonville or Tampa. Most RVers approach via I-75 to Ocala and then head east on SR 40, a flat route with no significant grades, tunnels, or low-clearance hazards. Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) are the most practical fly-and-rent options, with Gainesville Regional as a smaller alternative. Typical Florida RV rules apply, so check campground site-length limits before booking with a larger rig.
