Nestled within Farragut State Park on the southern shores of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho, the Waldron campground offers a stunning base camp surrounded by 4,000 acres of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains. Situated just 20 miles north of Coeur d'Alene and 26 miles south of Sandpoint, this campground blends natural beauty with rich history — the park occupies the former Farragut Naval Training Station, which trained nearly 300,000 sailors during World War II. The on-site museum preserves this fascinating heritage. Waldron campers enjoy full amenities including water and electrical hookups, pull-through sites, a dump station, showers, flush toilets, fire rings, grills, and picnic tables. Firewood is available on-site. Big rig rigs are welcome, and leashed pets are permitted throughout. Beyond the campsite, adventure abounds with over 40 miles of hiking and biking trails, excellent fishing on Lake Pend Oreille, disc golf, paddlesports, and swimming at Beaver Bay Beach. The Tree to Tree Adventure Park adds zip-lining and aerial courses for thrill-seekers. Whether exploring Idaho's stunning mountain scenery or diving into World War II history, the Waldron campground at Farragut State Park delivers an exceptional outdoor experience in the Idaho Panhandle.
