July and August offer the warmest, driest weather and fully open campground access, making them ideal for RV camping. September provides pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds as a shoulder season option. Winter visitors access the park for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing from December through March, though RV camping is unavailable during these months. Note that the summit road remains closed to vehicle traffic until mid-June due to seasonal snow, and campground operations begin July 1.

A 6-mile roundtrip hike with 1,377 feet of elevation gain offering accessible mountain summit views. The trail winds through forest and meadows on a well-maintained path suitable for intermediate hikers.
A short walk from the parking area leads to Vista House, where a picnic table overlooks panoramic views of the Spokane region. This easy viewpoint is accessible for RV visitors with limited mobility.
A moderate trail ascending to a relocated fire tower with 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The lookout also offers unique overnight lodging in the tower from June 15 through October 1.
A moderately difficult trail traversing dense forest with steady but manageable elevation gain on a well-maintained path with switchbacks. Hikers are rewarded with views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
Summer visitors can explore areas with wildflowers, bear grass, and huckleberries in subalpine meadows. Multiple trails of varying difficulty weave through these seasonal botanical displays throughout the park's 100-mile trail system.
Winter access to nearly 37 miles of professionally groomed Nordic ski trails accommodates both classic and skate skiing through diverse terrain. Trails operate under sno-park management from December through March.
The park's diverse ecosystems support viewing opportunities for various bird species and wildlife throughout the seasons. Binoculars and early morning visits enhance sighting chances in forest and meadow areas.
