This was our first experience renting an RV. We were very pleased with the size. We were 1 couple and a medium size dog. This RV is very roomy and comfortable. Charles and Pam had given us a great tour prior to our departure. We learned how to operate the slide outs and how to level the RV. They were also easy to reach when we had questions during our trip. The RV was very well equiped. The A/C worked perfectly. We rented during the June 2024 heat wave. There was also a lot of storage room inside and outside. The gas consumption was less than we had thought. 8miles/ gallon. We highly recommend this RV.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Val-d'Or?

RV rental in Val-d'Or is affordable compared to bigger Quebec hubs. On RVezy, motorhomes around Val-d'Or average about $200 per night, while travel trailers and other towables sit closer to $120 per night. Many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts, so a 7-night Abitibi-Temiscamingue loop drops fast. Do I need a special licence to rent an RV in Val-d'Or, Quebec?

Good news: for almost every RV rental in Val-d'Or, your regular Quebec Class 5 passenger vehicle driver's licence is all you need. The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) confirms a Class 5 covers personal-use motorhomes, campervans, travel trailers, and fifth wheels with no special endorsement required. Visitors from other Canadian provinces, US states, or abroad can drive on a valid licence from home (an International Driving Permit is recommended for non-English/French licences). You must be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID verification is handled right inside the platform. A handful of very large diesel Class A rigs with air brakes need an endorsement, but your host will flag this clearly before you book.

What is the cancellation policy if my Val-d'Or RV trip plans change?

You can book your Val-d'Or RV trip with confidence. RVezy sets the cancellation policy, so it's consistent across every listing in Abitibi-Temiscamingue and is not defined by individual hosts. Refund amounts depend on how far ahead of your trip start date you cancel, and there is a grace period shortly after booking. If a host cancels, guests receive a refund or travel credit. Pro tip: review the cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before you book so you know exactly how it works.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Val-d'Or?

Yes, and Val-d'Or is a dog-welcoming corner of Quebec. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Val-d'Or, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see rigs that welcome dogs. Many local campgrounds, including Parc national d'Aiguebelle, allow dogs on leash on designated trails. Your dog will also enjoy the shoreline trails around Lac Blouin and the Foret Recreative right inside the city. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees, then pack a tie-out, water bowl, and bug spray (Abitibi mosquitoes are active in June and July).

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or cottage in the Val-d'Or area?

Yes, RV delivery from Val-d'Or hosts is often the easiest way to start your first trip. Many owners will drive the motorhome straight to your campsite at Parc national d'Aiguebelle, a cottage on Lac Blouin, or your driveway in Val-d'Or, Malartic, or Senneterre. They'll level it, hook up power and water, and give you a full walkthrough so you never have to back a trailer on day one. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which hosts deliver and how far. Pro tip: delivery fees scale with distance, so picking a campground within 30 to 60 km of Val-d'Or keeps costs low.

How far can I travel from Val-d'Or, and is unlimited mileage available?

You've got serious range from Val-d'Or, which sits at the crossroads of Route 117 and Route 113. Popular RV road trip from Val-d'Or routes include Rouyn-Noranda (about 110 km west), Amos and the Refuge Pageau (about 70 km north), Mont-Tremblant (around 400 km south), and Ottawa-Gatineau (about 530 km via the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve). Each host sets their own mileage policy, but many offer generous daily allotments and some list RV rental with unlimited mileage, ideal for big northern loops. You can see the daily kilometre allowance and overage fee right on the listing page. Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage if you're planning a multi-day trip through Abitibi or south to the Laurentians.

Where are the best campgrounds near Val-d'Or for an RV?

You've got some genuinely special spots within easy driving distance. The best campgrounds near Val-d'Or for RV camping include Parc national d'Aiguebelle (about 90 minutes west via Route 117), where the Abijévis and Du Sablon sectors offer semi-serviced sites starting around $27.50 per night surrounded by ancient Canadian Shield rock formations and suspension bridges. Camping Plage Fortin sits right on Lac Lemoine just south of town with full hookups, and Camping du Lac Berry near Amos is a family favourite with a sandy beach. For something wilder, Réserve faunique La Vérendrye south of Val-d'Or has dozens of lakeside sites along Route 117. Pro tip: SEPAQ sites at Aiguebelle open online reservations in January and fill up fast for July long weekends.
sepaq.com/en/reservation/camping/parc-national-d-aiguebelle

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Val-d'Or?

Late June through early September is the sweet spot for an RV trip from Val-d'Or. July highs average around 24°C with occasional days above 30°C, the lakes are warm enough for swimming, and SEPAQ campgrounds like Parc national d'Aiguebelle are fully open (typically late April to early November). Early September brings cool nights, fewer mosquitoes, and the start of fall colours across the boreal forest, an incredible time for photography. Winters are long and serious here, with January means around -17°C and reliable snow from November to April, so most campgrounds close. Pro tip: book the last two weeks of August for the magic combo of warm days, cooler evenings, and prime Northern Lights viewing on clear nights.

I'm a first-time renter. Will I actually know how to use the RV?

You'll be fine, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host in Val-d'Or gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery) where they walk you through the propane, water pump, generator, dump valves, awning, and slide-outs step by step. The walkthrough typically takes 30 to 45 minutes and resolves most first-timer questions. You can also message the host before booking, and the RVezy Help Center has guides and tutorials. Class B campervans and small Class C motorhomes are the easiest first-timer picks for a Val-d'Or RV trip. Pro tip: take a short test drive around the host's neighbourhood before heading off toward Route 117.

What happens if something goes wrong on the road around Val-d'Or?

Help is always close, even far north in Abitibi. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat near Malartic, a dead battery at Lac Blouin, or run out of fuel on Route 117 in the La Verendrye Wildlife Reserve, one phone call dispatches a technician. Your host is also typically reachable for quick mechanical questions, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: cell coverage thins out south of Louvicourt through La Verendrye, so download offline maps and save the RVezy support number before leaving Val-d'Or.

Can I take my Val-d'Or RV rental across the border into Ontario or the US?

Crossing into Ontario is usually straightforward, US trips require written host approval, and Mexico is not permitted. Many Val-d'Or hosts allow cross-border travel into Ontario (Route 117 becomes Highway 66 just past the Quebec line, a popular route toward Kirkland Lake and Timmins) and into the northern US, but you'll need the host's written approval before booking since insurance terms must extend across the border. RVs rented through RVezy cannot be taken into Mexico. Pro tip: message the host directly with your full route, and pack your passport and vehicle documents for a smooth customs stop.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for around Val-d'Or?

Fuel is manageable when you plan ahead. A typical Class C motorhome around Val-d'Or returns about 14 to 18 L/100 km, Class B campervans do better at 10 to 13 L/100 km, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region usually runs a few cents higher than Montreal prices, so fill up in Val-d'Or proper before heading into the La Verendrye Wildlife Reserve, where stations are sparse. Pro tip: budget roughly $80 to $120 in fuel per day of active driving, and use a fuel price app to spot the cheapest pumps in town.
natural-resources.canada.ca/energy-sources/fossil-fuels/pricing/transportation-fuel-prices

How far in advance should I book a campground near Val-d'Or?

For peak summer, book early; for shoulder season, you've got flexibility. SEPAQ-operated sites like Parc national d'Aiguebelle open reservations in early January for the entire season through their official booking portal, and serviced sites for July weekends can fill within days. Private campgrounds around Val-d'Or, Amos, and the Cadillac corridor typically take reservations 3 to 6 months ahead and accept walk-ins in May, June, and September. Pro tip: if you're aiming for Festival des Guitares du Monde en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (early June) or the Tour de l'Abitibi cycling race (mid-July), lock in your campsite the moment SEPAQ opens its calendar, then book your RVezy rental right after to match the dates.
sepaq.com/en/reservation/camping/parc-national-d-aiguebelle

What are the driving conditions like around Val-d'Or?

Driving around Val-d'Or is honestly one of the most relaxed RV experiences in Quebec. Traffic in town is light, intersections are wide, and Route 117 (the main artery linking Val-d'Or to Rouyn-Noranda and south to Mont-Laurier) is well-maintained two-lane highway with generous shoulders. Watch for moose, especially at dusk through the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, and slow down in logging-truck zones. Winter brings serious snow (averaging 288 cm per year) and most renters stick to May through October. The terrain is gently rolling Canadian Shield, no mountain passes, no tight switchbacks. Pro tip: keep your fuel tank above half through La Vérendrye, the 250 km stretch between Val-d'Or and Grand-Remous has only a couple of gas stops.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Val-d'Or?

You'll find a comfortable range of options. Most private campgrounds around Val-d'Or, like Camping Plage Fortin on Lac Lemoine, offer 15/30 amp electrical, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi, while SEPAQ's Parc national d'Aiguebelle Abijévis sector provides semi-serviced sites with 15 amp electricity, shared water taps, hot showers, and a dump station. Basic sites run $30 to $70 per night and full-hookup luxury sites range $80 to $120. For dumping and freshwater fill-ups on the road, Camping Plage Fortin and several gas stations along Route 117 in Malartic and Senneterre accept paid drop-ins. Pro tip: ask your RVezy host whether the rig comes with a water-pressure regulator and 30-to-15-amp adapter, they're lifesavers at Aiguebelle's semi-serviced sites.
sepaq.com/en/reservation/camping/parc-national-d-aiguebelle

What's inside a typical RV rental in Val-d'Or?

More creature comforts than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Val-d'Or comes with a queen or full-size bed, a convertible dinette or bunk beds (most rigs sleep 4 to 6), a kitchen with three-burner propane stove, microwave, fridge-freezer, sink, a wet or dry bath with toilet and shower, roof AC, propane furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a built-in generator for off-grid power. Campervan rentals in Val-d'Or (Class B) are more compact but still include a kitchenette, bed, and often a cassette toilet. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count, then message the host to confirm specifics like a coffee maker or Wi-Fi.

What add-ons and pickup options should I look for when I rent an RV in Val-d'Or?

There are useful extras to consider. When you rent an RV in Val-d'Or, common host-offered add-ons include kitchen kits, bedding and linen packages, camp chairs, BBQ propane grills, bike racks, generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Fees are listed clearly on each listing. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Val-d'Or or nearby Sullivan, Dubuisson, or Malartic, and many hosts offer delivery to your campsite. Mileage policies vary, with daily allowances often between 100 and 200 km plus overage charges, and some rigs include unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundle delivery, a kitchen kit, and bedding on your first trip so you arrive at Aiguebelle ready to relax.

How does payment and the security deposit work on an RV rental in Val-d'Or?

Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy: no cash or e-transfers with the host. When you book your RV rental in Val-d'Or, your credit card is charged through the secure RVezy platform, and a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized separately before pickup. As long as the RV comes back in the agreed condition, your deposit is released after your trip ends. Pro tip: do a thorough photo and video walkthrough at both pickup and drop-off, return the RV on time, and refuel to the agreed level for a smooth deposit refund.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Are winter RV rentals available in Val-d'Or, and how do I stay warm?

Winter rentals are possible and can be memorable. Some Val-d'Or hosts list four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces sized for serious cold, ideal for ice-fishing on Lac Blouin, snowmobiling the Trans-Quebec 83 trail, or chasing the Northern Lights. January temperatures average around -17C with stretches below -30C, so you'll want a rig with shore power at a winter-ready campground that stays open year-round. Pro tip: message hosts directly to ask about a heated water hose, skirting, and a backup space heater, and plan to plug into 30-amp shore power overnight.
