Josh was great to work with in renting the RV. The RV was well stocked with linens for us. There were several other amenities available that we didn't utilize as we were staying in our friend's back yard. Delivery and pickup went well and we were glad this was an option. Thank you!

We loved this pop-up trailer! Found this trailer through a search. I don’t think we could have found a better person to rent from for our first RVezy trip. Stephen was very helpful and speedy in his communication. Everything worked great. AC was a beast and handled Texas heat no problem. The heater worked great for the cold nights in Louisville. Stephen helped us get on our way with a bag of tools and practically everything we needed. We towed this thing with our 2015 Honda Odyssey. I would absolutely recommend renting this trailer from Stephen.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Los Chavez, NM?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Los Chavez for almost every RV on RVezy. New Mexico only requires a special Class E endorsement for non-commercial motorhomes over 26,001 pounds, and the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers on the platform fall well under that weight. You must be 25 or older and verify your ID through RVezy during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised at how simple the paperwork really is.

What is the cancellation policy if my Los Chavez trip plans change?

You can book your Los Chavez RV rental with confidence because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. Every booking includes a money-back grace period right after you reserve, and broader protections apply for circumstances like natural disasters, wildfires, or major road closures, which matter in a region that occasionally sees spring windstorms or summer monsoon flooding. The exact refund window depends on how far in advance you cancel, and the full terms are shown during checkout. The bottom line: booking an RV rental in New Mexico is far lower-risk than most travelers expect.

Can I bring my dog on a Los Chavez RV trip?

Many local hosts even leave bowls, blankets, or tie-out stakes for guests. Once you're on the road, your pup will love the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area trails in Belen, the leashed-dog-friendly paths along the Rio Grande Bosque, and most sites at Manzano Mountains State Park. Pro tip: message the host before booking to share your dog's size and breed, and ask about any pet cleaning fee so there are no surprises at checkout.

Where are the best campgrounds near Los Chavez, NM?

Kiva RV Park & Horse Motel in Bernardo sits 30 minutes south with full hookups and big-rig friendly pull-throughs. American RV Resort and Enchanted Trails RV Park in Albuquerque (25-35 minutes north) are classic Route 66 stops with pools and laundry. What's the best time of year for an RV trip from Los Chavez?

Los Chavez sits at about 4,800 feet of elevation with hot, dry summers and short, crisp winters, so the sweet spot for an RV road trip from Los Chavez is mid-April through late June and again from mid-September through early November. Daytime highs in those windows run a comfortable 65-85°F, nights cool down nicely, and the monsoon thunderstorms of July and August are mostly behind you. Winter rentals are absolutely available too, with sunny 50°F days great for visiting Bosque del Apache's snow geese migration (peak December-January). Pro tip: time your trip for Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in early October for a once-in-a-lifetime sky.

I've never driven an RV before. How does it work?

First time renting an RV? You're going to do great, and your host is the secret weapon. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, the propane system, water tanks, slide-outs, the generator, and the awning. Many Los Chavez hosts also share short videos beforehand so you arrive already familiar. Most travel trailers and Class C motorhomes drive much like a large pickup, and the wide-open lanes of Interstate 25 around Los Lunas and Belen make for an easy practice stretch. Pro tip: choose a Class B campervan or smaller Class C for your first trip; they're nimble on Route 66's older narrow shoulders.

What happens if something breaks down on the road?

You're never stranded on an RV rental in New Mexico. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, covering tire blowouts, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Help can reach you anywhere along I-25, I-40, Highway 60, or the more remote stretches near the Manzano Mountains. Your host is also a quick text away for questions like how to reset the GFCI or relight the water heater. Pro tip: before you leave Los Chavez, snap a photo of the RV's tire pressure sticker and save the host's number plus the RVezy support line in your phone so you're set if cell service gets spotty.

Can I take an RV from Los Chavez across state lines or into Mexico?

Interstate travel is wide open. From Los Chavez you can easily plan a multi-state RV road trip from Los Chavez to Arizona (Petrified Forest is about 4 hours), Colorado (Mesa Verde about 5 hours), or Texas (Big Bend about 8 hours), and your RVezy coverage travels with you across U.S. state lines. Travel into Mexico, however, is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend across that border. If you're dreaming of a cross-border feel without leaving the U.S., the historic border town of Columbus, NM and Pancho Villa State Park are a scenic 3.5-hour drive south.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Los Chavez RV trip?

Fuel is one of the bigger line items, but it's manageable with a little planning. Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes typically run 6-10 MPG. Towable travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10-14 MPG combined). Gas in the Albuquerque metro and Los Lunas area runs close to the New Mexico average and is generally cheaper than in Santa Fe or remote stretches of Highway 60. Pro tip: fill up at the Love's or Pilot just off I-25 exit 203 in Los Lunas before heading into the Manzanos or south toward Bosque del Apache, where stations are 40+ miles apart.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Los Chavez?

For most of the year, 2-4 weeks ahead is plenty for campgrounds near Los Chavez. The exceptions are big-deal weekends: book Manzano Mountains State Park and Bosque del Apache-area sites 4-6 months ahead for fall, and lock in any Albuquerque-area RV park (American RV Resort, Enchanted Trails, Isleta Lakes) up to 11 months out if you are traveling during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in early October. New Mexico State Parks reservations are handled through the state park reservation system, and most private parks book directly on their websites or by phone. Pro tip: Sunday-through-Thursday stays are far easier to snag and often $5-15 cheaper per night.

What are the driving conditions like around Los Chavez?

Los Chavez sits in the gentle Rio Grande Valley along I-25, which makes for some of the easiest RV driving in the Southwest. Roads are wide, well-maintained, and at a comfortable 4,800-foot elevation, so you won't face steep mountain grades unless you choose them. Watch for spring wind gusts (especially March-April) that can push high-profile RVs around on open stretches of I-25 and Highway 60, and check NMRoads.com before driving into the Manzanos in winter. Summer monsoon storms (July-August) bring brief but heavy afternoon downpours. Pro tip: plan major drives for morning hours when winds are calmer and afternoon thunderstorms haven't yet built up.

Albuquerque-area parks like American RV Resort and Enchanted Trails offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. Isleta Lakes & RV Park has full hookups plus a stocked fishing lake. Manzano Mountains State Park provides electric and water sites with a centralized dump station and potable water fill. Free dump stations are also available at Love's Travel Stop in Los Lunas and at most Flying J locations along I-25. What add-ons and pickup options are available for my Los Chavez rental?

Hosts in the Los Chavez area offer some great add-ons that take the hassle out of packing. Common options include linen and kitchen packages ($25-75), camping chairs and outdoor mats, bikes, generators, propane refills, portable grills, and even pre-stocked groceries. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Los Chavez, Los Lunas, Belen, or south Albuquerque, and many hosts offer flexible early pickup or late return windows. Mileage policies vary by listing and are clearly shown on each page before you book. Pro tip: if you're flying into Albuquerque Sunport (25 miles north), filter for hosts who deliver to the airport area or pickup nearby to skip a rental car entirely.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is straightforward and protected. You pay through RVezy securely with a credit card, never directly to the host, which keeps your booking covered by the platform. A refundable security deposit is placed on your card before pickup, and the amount is shown on the listing page so there are no surprises. As long as the RV comes back in the same condition it left, your deposit is released after the trip. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around video at both pickup and drop-off with your host (timestamped on your phone), especially noting the existing condition of tires, exterior decals, and the awning, to avoid disputes and protect your family RV trip Los Chavez memories.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

How do I manage summer heat and monsoon storms in a New Mexico RV?

Summer in Los Chavez is hot but very manageable in an RV. July highs average 91°F with low humidity, so the rooftop A/C cools effectively when you have a 30/50-amp shore power connection at parks like American RV Resort or Isleta Lakes. Plan driving for mornings, then settle into a shaded campsite for the afternoon monsoon storms that often roll through between 2-5 PM. Stow awnings before storms (gusts can hit 50+ mph) and stay aware of arroyo flooding on dirt roads. Pro tip: head up to Manzano Mountains State Park at 7,200 feet for an instant 15-20°F cooldown, a favorite escape for Albuquerque locals all summer long.
