Mid-July through early September offers the most reliable hiking conditions, with snow-free upper trails, long daylight, and open alpine views. Day-use trail passes are required from mid-May to late October, so plan ahead during that window. June can be wet with lingering snow near Upper Joffre Lake, while late September and early October bring fall colour and fewer crowds but cooler nights. Winter camping is not permitted due to increased avalanche risk.

The Lower Joffre Lake viewpoint is a short, accessible walk from the main parking lot with a postcard view of the first turquoise lake. The viewpoint at Lower Joffre Lake is an easy, five-minute walk from the parking lot. It is the best option for visitors with limited time or mobility. bcparks.ca/joffre-lakes-park/
The hike to Middle Joffre Lake climbs through mature coastal forest to a second, larger turquoise lake ringed by peaks. The trail winds upward through old-growth forests of hemlock and spruce and along talus slopes, becoming steeper and more challenging as it approaches Middle Joffre Lake, where pristine turquoise waters are fringed by sub-alpine forest and backed by rugged scenery. bcparks.ca/joffre-lakes-park/
The full hike to Upper Joffre Lake is the park's signature day hike, reaching an alpine basin beneath the Matier Glacier. Elevation gain from the parking lot to Upper Joffre Lake is approximately 400 m. The final stretch is narrower and rougher. bcparks.ca/joffre-lakes-park/
Overnight stays let hikers catch sunrise and sunset light on the glacier-fed upper lake. Reservations are required for all overnight stays at Upper Joffre Lake Campground, which has 26 reservable tent pads, and BC Parks recommends booking as early as possible. Campers must store food in the metal cache provided to avoid attracting bears. bcparks.ca/reservations/backcountry-camping/joffre-lakes/
Joffre Lakes is a good place to spot alpine wildlife along the trail and around the lakes. Deer, black bears, grizzly bears, and mountain goats live in the park, and visitors may spot pikas along the hiking trail. Carry bear spray and make noise on the climb. bcparks.ca/joffre-lakes-park/
Experienced parties use the park as a base for routes on the surrounding peaks and icefields. The park is famous for its turquoise lakes, jagged peaks, icefields, and cold rushing streams, and offers opportunities for hiking, camping, and climbing. Proper glacier travel skills and equipment are essential. bcparks.ca/joffre-lakes-park/
All three lakes are prime photography spots thanks to their vivid colour. The waters of Lower, Middle, and Upper Joffre lakes draw many visitors, their striking saturated blue colour caused by rockflour suspended in the water, and views of all three lakes are accessible via the trail from the parking lot. bcparks.ca/joffre-lakes-park/
This rental was perfect. The owner was flexible on delivery and pick up. It was amazing to have the trailer delivered and set up and picked up as we were busy with our daughters wedding so the stress of setting up a trailer for camping was something we didn't have to deal with.

We loved arriving to our campsite and finding the RV site up and ready to live in. Owners were very responsive to any questions or issues we had.

Mark was awesome and the trailer was perfect for a semi rainy and cold May long weekend trip with our two kiddos. The space was exactly what we needed and fully stocked for an awesome camping weekend. Thanks again :)

The Happy Camper Trailer was fully equipped. Mark arrived right on time and set everything up for me. He gave me a nice orientation so I learned how everything worked. I really enjoyed my camping trip. It rained for a good portion of the weekend but I was warm and dry thanks to the trailer and furnace !

Joffre Lakes Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The entrance to Joffre Lakes Park is off Highway 99, east of Pemberton, on the Duffey Lake Road. From Whistler the trailhead is roughly a one-hour drive, from Vancouver it is about a three-hour drive via the Sea to Sky Highway, and Lillooet lies about an hour to the east. RVers should prepare for the Duffey Lake Road, a steep mountain highway with sustained grades, tight curves, and no services between Pemberton and Lillooet, so check brakes and fuel before heading east. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
