The best time to visit Lake Manatee State Park is from late October through April, when daytime temperatures are mild, humidity is low, and mosquito activity is minimal. Winter is peak season for snowbird RVers, so reservations fill quickly on weekends and holidays. The shoulder months of October and April offer warm lake swimming with smaller crowds. Summer brings heat, humidity, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so early-morning activities are recommended for RVers visiting June through September.

Lake Manatee offers freshwater fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, sunshine bass, and catfish from the shoreline or a small boat. Anglers 16 and older need a Florida freshwater fishing license. RV parking is available near the boat ramp and fishing area.
The park boat ramp provides access to the 2,400-acre reservoir for boats with motors up to 20 horsepower, plus canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards. Calm conditions and protected shoreline make it well suited for beginner paddlers. A parking area near the ramp accommodates trailers and larger vehicles.
A designated swimming area on the lake features a sandy beach with a picnic area nearby. Lifeguards are not on duty, so swimming is at visitor's own risk. The beach is a short walk from the day-use parking lot.
A short, flat nature trail loops through pine flatwoods and scrub habitat typical of Central Florida. The walk offers chances to spot gopher tortoises, woodpeckers, and native wildflowers. The trailhead has day-use parking suitable for tow vehicles.
The park's mix of pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, and lake shoreline supports bald eagles, ospreys, sandhill cranes, wading birds, and alligators. Early morning visits along the shoreline and trails yield the best sightings. Binoculars are recommended year-round.
Covered picnic pavilions and individual tables overlook the lake and are available on a first-come basis, with some reservable for groups. Grills and restrooms are located nearby. The day-use lot accommodates tow vehicles and smaller Class B or C motorhomes.
The paved main park road and campground loops provide safe, flat cycling for families and casual riders. Traffic is light and speeds are low throughout the park. Riders can connect between the campground, picnic area, and boat ramp.
Excellent Campervan Experience We recently rented a campervan to travel to Savannah and Northern Georgia. We had a great time, thanks to the excellent orientation provided by Morgan. We truly had everything we needed, from a French Press to start our days out right to a comfy bed that accommodated two adults comfortably. It was an amazing experience, with all the comforts of home while still being able to connect with nature. Morgan was a phenomenal host and we can't recommend him highly enough!
