Spring (March through May) and fall (October through November) are the most comfortable seasons, with mild daytime temperatures, wildflower blooms, and pleasant nights ideal for RV camping. Summer brings hot, humid weather with highs frequently in the 90s F, so shaded sites and early-morning hikes are recommended. Winter (December through February) is generally mild and uncrowded, making it a good shoulder-season choice for snowbirds passing through Central Texas. Heavy spring rains can occasionally cause flooding along the Leon River, so it is wise to check park alerts before arriving.

Wash Pond Trail is a short, easy walking path leading to a historic CCC-era pond. The shaded route passes through native woodlands and is suitable for most ages and ability levels.
Tower Trail leads to the park's iconic stone observation tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The CCC-built structures are on the National Register of Historic Places, and the tower offers a quiet vantage point over the Leon River bottomlands.
Rock Tank Trail is a scenic loop crossing seasonal creeks and limestone outcrops. Hikers can spot wildflowers in spring and summer migratory songbirds in the canopy.
Cave Trail is a short interpretive route leading to a small natural rock shelter once used by Tonkawa peoples. The trail is shaded and includes interpretive signage about the park's cultural history.
Wildlife viewing at Mother Neff includes white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, armadillos, and a strong variety of resident and migratory birds. The CCC-era picnic area near the day-use loop is a favorite spot for quiet observation.
The park hosts a Texas State Parks geocaching trail and Junior Ranger Explorer Pack program for families. Activity packs and maps are available at park headquarters.
The park's historic stone picnic area was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and remains a centerpiece of day use. Tables, grills, and shaded oak groves make it a relaxing midday stop for RV travelers.
Absolutely amazing experience! We had so much fun, and there was plenty of room for our group of 4 adults and 2 kids. Communication with the owner was excellent! They were very responsive and flexible with both pickup and drop-off. We’d definitely rent from them again if the opportunity comes up!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect RV Experience! Rented this RV for a quick 2-night birthday weekend. The owner delivered it, set it up completely, and picked it up at the end — super convenient! The RV was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Everything worked great and felt like a cozy home away from home. Highly recommend! 5/5 Stars

Mother Neff State Park, TX, United States
The park sits off State Highway 236 near Moody, Texas, about a 30 to 40 minute drive south of Waco and roughly 45 minutes north of Killeen and Temple. From Interstate 35, take the Moody exit and follow paved farm-to-market roads west to the park entrance. Roads into the park are paved and generally RV-friendly, but the final approach is narrow and winding in places, so larger rigs should drive slowly and watch for low-hanging branches. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Waco Regional Airport, with Austin-Bergstrom International Airport about two hours south.
