Late June through early September is the prime window for RV travel, with warm days, open water, and all campgrounds typically operating. July and August see the busiest weekends and the warmest swimming temperatures, so reservations are strongly advised. Late May, early June, and September offer cooler nights, fewer crowds, and good fishing, though some loops and services may be limited. Winter visits are possible for ice fishing and day use, but most developed RV facilities and water systems are shut down for the season.

Rockport Reservoir is open to motorboats, sailboats, paddleboards, and personal watercraft, with developed boat ramps along the shoreline. The mountain setting and reliable summer winds make it a popular spot for waterskiing, wakeboarding, and sailing. RV travelers can launch from paved ramps with adjacent trailer parking.
Rockport Reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout and also holds smallmouth bass, brown trout, and yellow perch. Anglers fish from boats, the shoreline, and through the ice in winter. A Utah fishing license is required for anyone aged 12 and over.
Designated swim and beach areas along the eastern shore offer easy water access for families. The reservoir warms up in midsummer and is one of the closer swimming lakes to the Wasatch Front. Day-use parking accommodates trucks, trailers, and most RVs.
Primitive shoreline sites and developed campground loops offer water-view camping in the open sage country east of the lake. Skies are dark by Wasatch Front standards, making it a good place to set up camp chairs after sunset. Generators are typically restricted to posted hours within developed campgrounds.
The park's paved access roads and quiet campground loops are well suited to easy cycling and walking, with reservoir views throughout. There are no signed long-distance trails inside the park, but riders often use the route as a base for road rides into Summit County. Cyclists should watch for towed trailers and trucks during peak weekends.
Once safe ice forms, Rockport becomes a popular ice-fishing destination for rainbow trout and perch. Day-use access remains open in winter even though most campground services are closed. Anglers should check current ice conditions before heading out, as conditions vary year to year.
Rockport State Park sits about a 25-minute drive from Park City, making the historic Main Street, mountain bike trails, and resort areas an easy side trip. Larger RVs should park at the lower lots on the edge of town and use local transit or drive in with a tow vehicle. The route follows paved highways with no tunnels or low clearances.
Rodrigo and Family were amazing! We came in to visit Family all the way from Australia and we’re looking for a reliable and reasonable Rv to rent to go to Yellowstone. The RV was super clean, easy to drive and well stocked with everything you need. We would highly recommend using them for any type of RV rental. Their communication skills were fantastic all the way through.

Rockport State Park, UT, United States
Rockport State Park is reached from Interstate 80 at the Wanship exit, then a short drive south on State Route 32 along the reservoir. Salt Lake City is roughly 45 miles west, about an hour by RV depending on canyon traffic, and Park City is about 15 miles southwest, around 25 minutes away. Most of the drive is on graded interstate and a paved two-lane highway with no tunnels or low clearances, but RVers should plan for the climb up Parleys Canyon on I-80, which has steep grades, brake-check pull-offs, and frequent winter chain restrictions. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Salt Lake City International Airport.
