Campgrounds and RV parks near Okanagan Falls, BC

Skaha Lake anchors most summer activity. Swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking are the main draws, and the shallow, warm water at nearby Vaseux Lake suits families and beginner paddlers. Vaseux Lake is a designated migratory bird sanctuary and is closed to motorized boats, which keeps it calm for canoes and kayaks. Hikers and cyclists have easy access to the Kettle Valley Rail Trail, a mostly flat gravel route that connects Okanagan Falls to Penticton and continues south. Skaha Bluffs Provincial Park, just north of town, is a well-known Canadian rock-climbing destination. Wildlife viewing is strong around Vaseux Lake, with California bighorn sheep on the cliffs above the highway and viewing boardwalks at the Vaseux Wildlife Centre. Wineries line the benches around the valley, and roadside fruit stands operate through summer and early fall.

The main camping season in the South Okanagan runs from mid-April through mid-October, with peak demand from late June through early September. July and August are hot and dry, regularly climbing above 30°C, and shade is limited at most lakeside campgrounds. Reservable sites at Okanagan Falls Provincial Park are bookable through the BC Parks reservation system from roughly mid-May to early September, with first-come, first-served operation on either side of that window into mid-October. Late spring and September are quieter, cooler, and better for climbing at Skaha Bluffs and for wildlife viewing at Vaseux Lake, where spring and fall are the recommended viewing seasons. Winter closures are the norm at most campgrounds in the area. Private resorts generally operate from spring through mid-October, and provincial park gates are locked outside the operating season. Note that Okanagan Falls Provincial Park closes for one weekend each September for the Okanagan Nation Alliance Salmon Feast.

Provincial park sites in the area are basic. Okanagan Falls Provincial Park has 25 gravel sites, both flush and pit toilets, cold water taps, and no showers or hookups. Vaseux Lake Provincial Park has pit toilets, a hand pump under a boil water notice, and no hookups, with sites tightly spaced between the highway and the lake. Private resorts offer more services. Banbury Green RV and Camping Resort provides hookup sites, showers, laundry, and beach access on Skaha Lake. Sun and Sand RV Park and Camp-Along Resort also offer serviced sites close to town amenities. Cell reception is generally reliable along the Highway 97 corridor. Bring drinking water for stops at first-come parks, and check for seasonal fire bans, which are common through July and August.
