Campgrounds and RV parks near West Kelowna, BC

Okanagan Lake is the main draw, with swimming, paddling, boating, and long sandy stretches at Bear Creek Provincial Park's beach and at day-use areas along Westside Road. Guests at Bear Creek can also hike the Bear Creek Canyon trail, which climbs above the creek to viewpoints and a waterfall on the west side of Westside Road. West Kelowna sits inside the Okanagan wine region, with wineries and cider houses spread across the hills above the lake, plus orchards and farm stands in season. Cyclists use the Okanagan Rail Trail and area road routes, and the nearby Crystal Mountain and Kalamoir Regional Park trails add mountain biking and walking options. Downtown Kelowna, restaurants, and full retail are ten minutes across the William R. Bennett Bridge.

Bear Creek Provincial Park typically operates from late March to mid-October, and the campground is fully reservable from April 1 through October 16. All 143 sites are reservable during that window, with no formal first-come, first-served inventory once the season is under way. Peak demand runs from the Victoria Day long weekend in May through Labour Day in early September, with July and August the busiest and hottest months. Private parks in the area, including Okanagan RV Park, generally stay open year-round, though services and staffing scale back outside the main season. Shoulder months, late April to mid-June and mid-September through October, offer easier bookings, cooler nights, and lower lake and trail traffic. Wildfire smoke can affect air quality in July, August, and early September during active fire years. Campers should check BC Wildfire Service and BC Parks advisories before arrival, as campfire bans and site closures are used when conditions warrant.

Bear Creek Provincial Park offers flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a sani-station, and a seasonal concession at the gatehouse. Sites 123 to 143 are the newer powered loop: 14 sites with 30-amp service and 7 pull-through sites with 50-amp power, water, and sewer. The remaining sites are unserviced but suit tents, trailers, and most RVs. Cycling is limited to park roads, and pets must be leashed. Private parks such as Okanagan RV Park provide full hookups with 50-amp service, laundry, showers, and a dump station, and cater to larger rigs. Expect summer heat above 30°C, dry conditions, and busy boat-launch and beach traffic on weekends.
