Campgrounds and RV parks near North Vancouver, BC

The North Shore is built for outdoor days. Families use the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the free Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, and the Grouse Mountain gondola for accessible half-day trips. Hikers head to Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, Mount Seymour Provincial Park, and the Baden-Powell Trail, which crosses the North Shore end to end. On the water, Deep Cove is the main launch point for kayak and paddleboard rentals into Indian Arm. Cyclists can ride the Spirit Trail waterfront route or cross into Stanley Park via the Lions Gate Bridge. For day trips from a campground base, the Sea-to-Sky Highway leads north to Shannon Falls, the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, and Whistler. September and October offer relatively stable early-fall weather before the rains settle in. Winter is mild by Canadian standards but consistently wet at sea level, with heavy snow on the local mountains. Private North Shore parks such as Capilano RV Park stay open year-round, while Porteau Cove remains open with reduced services and limited facilities from mid-November through February.

The North Shore is dense and hilly, so expect narrow residential streets, low-clearance sections in a few spots, and slow traffic on Highway 1 through the Cut during commute hours. Larger rigs are easier to route via Highway 1 and the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge than through downtown and the Lions Gate. Private parks in the area are urban in feel, with paved pads, full hookups, and quick transit or driving access to attractions. Capilano RV Park is walking distance to Park Royal and a short drive to Stanley Park. Porteau Cove is more rustic, with 44 electrified drive-in sites and 16 walk-in sites without power, a shower and flush washroom building, and a sani-station with reduced availability in winter. Bears are present throughout the region, so food storage rules are enforced.
