Campgrounds and RV parks near Moriarty, NM

The Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway (NM-14) runs north from nearby Tijeras through Cedar Crest, Madrid, and on to Santa Fe, giving a full-day loop with mining history, galleries, and mountain views. Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument protects three 17th-century mission ruins at Abo, Quarai, and Gran Quivira, all reachable as day trips south of Moriarty. Outdoor time centers on the Cibola National Forest. The Sandia Mountains just east of Albuquerque offer hiking, the Sandia Peak Tram, and the Sandia Crest Scenic Byway. Cedro Peak Camping Sites in the Sandia Ranger District connect to more than 80 miles of single-track and equestrian trails used for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles.

Cell service and Wi-Fi are generally reliable in town and thin quickly once you head into the Manzanos. Elevation matters. The town sits above 6,000 feet, and Capilla Peak sits at 9,200 feet, so nights stay cool even in July and altitude affects generator load and cooking times. Reservations for horse-friendly sites and larger rigs are worth locking in early during monsoon and fall shoulder season.
