Campgrounds and RV parks near Chino Hills, CA

Chino Hills State Park has over 90 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, plus a Discovery Center with wildlife exhibits and the historic Rolling M Ranch barn. Spring brings poppies, lupines, and mustard flowers across the grassy hills. Families typically build day trips around the wider region: Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm sit roughly 20 to 25 miles south, while the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds at Fairplex hosts the annual fair, motorsports, and trade shows. Bonelli Bluffs RV Resort and Campground borders Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park, with swimming, boating, and fishing on Puddingstone Reservoir. Canyon RV Park provides Santa Ana River access on warm days, and the Yorba Regional Park bike path is close by.

Chino Hills has a Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild wet winters. Wildflowers carpet the valleys of Chino Hills State Park each spring (March through May), and this is the busiest time to visit. Cooler air, green hillsides, and long daylight make March through early June the most comfortable window for tent campers and for hiking out of Rolling M Ranch. Summer is hot and arid. Inland temperatures regularly climb into the 90s Fahrenheit, and shaded, full-hookup parks with pools, such as Bonelli Bluffs RV Resort and Campground and Orangeland RV Park, become the more practical choice for families with kids. Fire risk is elevated, and open fires and charcoal BBQs are not permitted at the state park campground. The park also closes for at least 48 hours after rainfall exceeding a quarter inch and during Red Flag warnings. Fall cools quickly after October and shoulder-season availability improves. Winter brings most of the year's rain between November and March, but temperatures stay mild and many private RV parks operate year-round.

Rolling M Ranch, the state park's only campground, is primitive by design. It has 20 developed sites with a restroom and shower facility, flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. Each site has paved parking that accommodates two vehicles or RVs up to 30 feet, plus a picnic table and lantern post. There are no hookups or dump stations, and open fires and charcoal BBQs are not allowed, though gas stoves may be used. Cell service is unreliable throughout the park. Check-in is 2 PM and check-out is noon. Larger Class A and fifth-wheel rigs should call ahead since the 30-foot limit is firm and the access road has tight turns; private parks in the area generally accommodate longer rigs without issue and offer paved pads, full hookups, dump stations, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools.
