John3 trips - Joined Jul 2022

John was easy to work with and communicated proactively and promptly, there were great instructions on how to use the van, and we accomplished our objective - which was to test out a Sprinter before making a major purchase.

Jason K. - Jul 2024

As a first time van camper rental, I could not be more grateful for this experience. John was VERY detailed oriented with his instructions so you knew exactly what you needed, where to find things, etc. He was friendly and responsive whenever I had a question. The van itself is awesome! Bed and linens were comfortable and they had all the camping supplies and cookware making it super convenient. No mechanical ssues- she ran like a beast! Got me around safely and comfortably. If I could,I would have loved to extend my stay but sadly had to leave. I wholeheartedly enjoyed my adventures traveling solo in this spacious, gorgeous camper van. Also, John was fantastic explaining and notifying you with any add on's/ additional charges if necessary so nothing comes at a surprise. Thank you for allowing me to have such an amazing experience in Glacier. I will never forget it! Highly recommend :)

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Columbia Falls, MT

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Columbia Falls, MT?

RV rental in Columbia Falls is more affordable than most people expect, especially compared to hotel rates near Glacier National Park during peak season. On RVezy, you'll typically see travel trailers from around $90 to $175 per night, campervans from $125 to $225, and Class C motorhomes from $175 to $325, with hosts setting their own pricing. To score a cheap RV rental Columbia Falls travelers love, book mid-week stays, target shoulder season (late May or September), and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: bundling delivery to your campground often costs less than the fuel and mileage you'd burn driving a big rig yourself.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Columbia Falls?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Columbia Falls, no special endorsement or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Montana allows personal-use RV drivers to operate motorhomes on a standard Class D license, so even a 30-foot Class C is fair game. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking, so there's no paperwork to chase down at pickup. Visiting from Canada or overseas? Your home license works, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is a smart add-on if your license isn't in English.

Is my Columbia Falls RV rental protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RV rental in Columbia Falls booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right in, so you can hit Highway 2 toward Glacier with real peace of mind. You choose your coverage level at checkout (not the host), and the plan helps protect you against most damage to the RV during your trip. Whether you're navigating gravel roads near Hungry Horse Reservoir or parking at Apgar, you're covered. Pro tip: take a quick walkaround video at pickup, it makes any post-trip questions effortless.

What if I need to cancel my Columbia Falls RV trip?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy that applies to every reservation, including a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. The refund amount depends on how far out you cancel from your trip start date. Hosts don't set or change this policy, RVezy does, which keeps things consistent across every listing. If plans shift, the easiest move is to message your host first, then contact RVezy support, available before, during, and after every Columbia Falls RV trip.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Columbia Falls?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Columbia Falls options are easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see plenty of hosts who welcome dogs (some even include towels, bowls, and crates). Dogs aren't allowed on most trails inside Glacier National Park, but they're welcome on paved roads, in campgrounds, and at nearby spots like Flathead National Forest trails, the Hungry Horse Reservoir shoreline, and the riverbanks along the North Fork Flathead. Pro tip: leashed pups are also welcome at Columbia Falls RV Park and Glacier Peaks RV Resort, making either a solid base camp for traveling with your best friend.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Columbia Falls?

Yes, RV delivery Columbia Falls is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many hosts will drop the RV right at Columbia Falls RV Park, Glacier Peaks RV Resort, West Glacier KOA, or even a vacation rental driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see which hosts offer this and what they charge (typically a flat fee plus per-mile beyond a set radius). Pro tip: delivery is the smartest pick if you're flying into Glacier Park International Airport (FCA) and don't want to tow anything.

West Glacier is just 15 miles east, Whitefish is about 15 minutes away, Flathead Lake's north shore is roughly 30 miles south, Yellowstone's west entrance is about 380 miles, and Banff National Park sits roughly 270 miles north across the border. Columbia Falls RV Park sits right in town with full 30/50-amp hookups and is open year-round, just 15 minutes from Glacier's west entrance. Glacier Peaks RV Park offers full hookups and easy access to both Whitefish and the park. Mountain View RV Park, between Columbia Falls and Whitefish off Highway 40, has big mountain views and full hookups. Inside the park, Apgar and Fish Creek campgrounds (reservable via Recreation.gov) put you steps from Lake McDonald. Pro tip: Fish Creek and Apgar fill within minutes when reservations drop six months out, set a calendar reminder.

The sweet spot for RV camping Columbia Falls runs from mid-June through mid-September, when Going-to-the-Sun Road is typically fully open, daytime highs sit in the upper 70s to low 80s, and Glacier's wildflowers and waterfalls are at their peak. July and August are warmest and busiest. Want fewer crowds and lower nightly rates? Late May to mid-June and September into early October are gorgeous shoulder seasons, just know the alpine section of Going-to-the-Sun typically opens in late June or early July. Insider tip: early September delivers golden larches, cool nights perfect for the RV's furnace, and noticeably thinner crowds at Logan Pass.

I've never rented an RV before. Is it really doable in Columbia Falls?

Totally, and first time renting an RV in Columbia Falls is easier than you'd think. You can message your host any time before or during the trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with your protection plan. For confidence, pick a smaller Class C or campervan rental Columbia Falls (under 25 feet), which handles Highway 2 and campground turns with ease. What happens if the RV breaks down near Glacier National Park?

You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the protection plan, so if you get a flat on Highway 2, a dead battery at Apgar, or a propane issue at Hungry Horse Reservoir, help is one phone call away. Cell coverage can be spotty inside Glacier, so save the roadside number in your phone and screenshot it before you head into the park. Your host is also a great first call for quick fixes (most know their rig inside and out). Insider tip: pick up bear spray and a paper park map in Columbia Falls before you leave town, because both come in handy when you're off-grid.

Can I take my Columbia Falls RV rental into Canada or other states?

Cross-border trips into Canada are often possible with your Columbia Falls RV rental, since Banff, Waterton Lakes, and the Roosville border crossing are all within easy reach (Waterton is about 160 miles north). You'll need to message the host directly before booking to confirm Canada travel is approved, and bring your passport plus the host's written authorization to the border. Interstate trips to Idaho, Wyoming (Yellowstone), or Washington are generally fine. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance restrictions. Pro tip: the drive from Columbia Falls to Waterton via Chief Mountain is a stunning half-day route.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I expect?

Budgeting fuel for your RV rental Montana trip is straightforward. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs come in around 6 to 10 MPG, campervans hit 18 to 22 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas in Columbia Falls and Kalispell typically tracks close to the Montana state average, and you'll find stations in town, Hungry Horse, and Coram, but none inside Glacier National Park, so fill up before entering. For a week-long loop covering 500 to 700 miles, plan roughly $200 to $400 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Columbia Falls before heading up Highway 2, prices climb the closer you get to the park.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Columbia Falls?

Book early and you'll lock in the best spots. Glacier National Park campgrounds (Apgar, Fish Creek, Many Glacier, St. Mary, Two Medicine) release reservations six months ahead on Recreation.gov, and the summer windows fill within minutes. Private parks like Columbia Falls RV Park, Glacier Peaks, and West Glacier KOA take reservations 6 to 12 months out and often sell out by March for July and August stays. Shoulder-season trips (late May, September) are much more flexible, often bookable just a few weeks ahead. Insider tip: set a Recreation.gov account up before your booking window opens and have your dates ready, the popular sites are gone in under five minutes.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2725

What are the driving conditions like around Columbia Falls?

Driving conditions around Columbia Falls are friendly for RVs on most major routes. Highway 2 and Highway 93 are wide, well-maintained, and very RV-friendly all the way to Whitefish, Kalispell, and West Glacier. The big thing to know: Going-to-the-Sun Road inside Glacier restricts vehicles longer than 21 feet, wider than 8 feet (including mirrors), or taller than 10 feet between Avalanche Creek and Rising Sun, so larger rigs should park at Apgar and hop the free shuttle. Watch for wildlife at dawn and dusk, especially deer and the occasional bear. Winter brings snow and ice from November through March, so studded tires or chains are smart if you visit off-season.
nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/gtsrinfo.htm

What amenities and hookups can I expect at Columbia Falls campgrounds?

You've got options across the spectrum. Private RV parks around Columbia Falls (Columbia Falls RV Park, Glacier Peaks, Mountain View, Whispering Pines) typically offer full hookups: 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, WiFi, hot showers, and laundry. Inside Glacier National Park, campgrounds like Apgar and Fish Creek are more rustic, no electric or water hookups at sites, but they have potable water fill stations, flush toilets, and shared dump stations. There's also a public dump station in Columbia Falls and at most private parks for around $10 to $20. Pro tip: fill your fresh water and dump tanks before heading into the park so you're set for a full week off-grid.

What's included inside a typical Columbia Falls RV rental?

Most motorhome rental Columbia Falls listings come surprisingly well-equipped. Expect a queen or king bed, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette that converts to extra sleeping, furnace and air conditioning, a generator or solar setup, and seatbelted travel seats matching the listed sleeps count. Many hosts also include linens, towels, camp chairs, outdoor mats, and starter kits with paper goods. WiFi and TVs vary by listing, so check the amenities section. Pro tip: message the host to confirm bear-safe food storage, a propane fire pit (handy when Flathead County issues fire bans), and any extras like bikes or kayaks, popular add-ons for Glacier trips.
nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/bears.htm

What add-ons and pickup options are common for Columbia Falls RV rentals?

Hosts in Columbia Falls offer a great mix of extras to make your trip easier. Popular add-ons include delivery and setup, generator hours, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards, camping chairs, bedding/linen packages, and pet fees (typically $25 to $75). Most rentals include a daily mileage allowance with extra miles around $0.35 to $0.50 each, and generator hours often run $3 to $5 per hour beyond what's included. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Columbia Falls, Kalispell, or Whitefish, with some offering meet-ups at Glacier Park International Airport (FCA). Pro tip: book Instant Book listings if you're planning last-minute, they confirm immediately without waiting for host approval.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, no cash or e-transfers to the host. You'll pay your rental total at booking with a credit or debit card, which covers the nightly rate, service fee, protection plan, and any add-ons. A refundable security deposit is held separately and released after your trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues, do a walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. Pro tip: most damage disputes come down to cleanliness, an extra 20-minute tidy at the end saves headaches.

Can I rent an RV in Columbia Falls in winter, and is it worth it?

Yes, winter RV rental in Columbia Falls is absolutely a thing, and it's a magical way to experience the Flathead Valley. Columbia Falls RV Park stays open year-round with full hookups, and Whitefish Mountain Resort is just about 30 minutes away for skiing and snowboarding. Look for four-season RVs on RVezy with heated tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces, and message the host to confirm cold-weather readiness before booking. Plug into shore power whenever possible, keep a small space heater inside, and let faucets drip on the coldest nights (lows can hit below zero in January). Insider tip: cross-country skiing the lower section of Going-to-the-Sun Road from Lake McDonald is unforgettable and crowd-free.
