2019 Starcraft Travel Trailer
This RV was extremely clean and very well stocked with the right amount of kitchen items (plates, cups, cutlery, small appliances etc..). Also, the host supplied dish towels, pillows, soaps, sponges, cleaning supplies, and a bonus welcoming gift of treats! This gesture was really appreciated. The size of the RV is generous for a family of 4. The hostess Crystal and her partner were very helpful and easy to communicate with. We would definitely recommend renting this trailer to anyone, especially those camping at the wonderful Bon Echo!

Awesome experience -- first timer, didn't know what to expect. Melinda and Luke answered all of my questions and took the time to walk me through the equipment. The RV looked brand new and was so easy and convenient. With the RV, they also supplied a 3 headed hitch ball, chains, wood blocks, drill for the jack supports, extension cord, hoses etc.

An Absolute Joy for Our Family Weekend! Our family just had the most wonderful weekend renting this Family Maxum Wild Travel Trailer from Alycia! The experience from start to finish was completely stress-free. The trailer itself was perfect for our needs. We were a group of two adults and two kids, and there was plenty of space and comfort for everyone. Everything was spotlessly clean, in great condition, and stocked with the essentials. Alycia, the host, was incredible. Her communications were prompt and friendly, and she made the pickup and drop-off process super flexible, which we really appreciated with kids in tow. It felt like renting from a good friend! The entire booking process on the app was straightforward and easy to manage. If you're looking for a reliable, comfortable, and well-maintained trailer for a great family adventure, look no further. We will absolutely be booking with Alycia again!

How much does it cost to rent an RV in North Frontenac, ON?

RV rental in North Frontenac is one of the most affordable ways to experience Eastern Ontario's lake country. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers starting around $100 to $175 CAD per night, campervans from about $150 to $225, and larger Class C motorhomes between $200 and $325 nightly. Since hosts set their own nightly rates, booking midweek or in the shoulder months of May, June, and September can land you a cheap RV rental in North Frontenac compared to peak July and August weekends. A pro tip: filter by travel trailers if you already have a tow vehicle, or choose a delivery-included listing so you can skip the towing learning curve entirely.

What license do I need to rent an RV in North Frontenac, Ontario?

Good news: a standard Ontario Class G driver's license is all you need for nearly every RV on RVezy, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers under 11,000 kg. You must be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during checkout, so there's no paperwork at pickup. Visiting from another province, a US state, or overseas? Your home license is recognized in Ontario for short-term visits, and an International Driving Permit is a smart add-on if your license isn't in English or French. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward driving a motorhome rental in North Frontenac actually is.

Is my RV rental in North Frontenac protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RV rental in North Frontenac booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance. You'll choose your level of coverage during checkout, with tiers that cover most damage to the vehicle so you're not on the hook for an unexpected pothole on Road 506 or a branch scrape at a backcountry site. Coverage gives you real financial peace of mind, especially in a remote area where cell service can be spotty. Pro tip: review the protection tiers before you book and pick the one that matches how adventurous your route is.

What if I need to cancel my North Frontenac RV trip?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy, and there's a grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great rig without second-guessing. If life or weather changes your plans, refund eligibility depends on how far out you cancel and whether something like a major storm or wildfire smoke event triggers RVezy's exception process. Frontenac County does occasionally see Restricted Fire Zones or strong summer storms, and RVezy's support team handles those situations case by case. Pro tip: book early to get your pick of rigs, knowing the grace period has your back.

Can I bring my dog on a North Frontenac RV trip?

Absolutely, and North Frontenac is a fantastic place to travel with pets. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in North Frontenac, use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see only listings where dogs are welcome, then message the host to confirm any specifics like size or shedding preferences. Once you're here, Bon Echo Provincial Park has a dedicated off-leash dog beach and a 1.4 km pet exercise trail near South Beach, and most North Frontenac Parklands backcountry sites welcome leashed dogs too. Pro tip: pack a long lead and a towel because your dog will absolutely want to swim in Mazinaw or Kashwakamak Lake.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in North Frontenac?

Yes, many North Frontenac hosts offer RV delivery directly to your campsite or cottage, which is a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Filter for Delivery on RVezy and you'll see hosts who will tow or drive the rig to popular spots like Bon Echo Provincial Park on Highway 41, Depot Lakes Conservation Area, or a private lakefront site near Plevna or Cloyne. They'll set up the rig, level it, connect any hookups, and walk you through the systems before they leave. Pro tip: delivery fees are usually based on distance from the host's location, so booking a host near Kingston, Sharbot Lake, or Napanee can keep that cost down for your North Frontenac RV trip.

How far can I travel from North Frontenac on a typical RV rental?

You've got tons of range. Most North Frontenac hosts include a daily mileage allowance (often 150 to 250 km per day) and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer adventures. From North Frontenac you're about 2.5 hours from Ottawa, 3 to 3.5 hours from Toronto, about 1.5 hours to Kingston and the Thousand Islands, 2.5 hours to the south end of Algonquin Provincial Park, and roughly 4 hours to Montreal. A popular RV road trip from North Frontenac loops north to Algonquin, east along the Ottawa Valley, and back through the Rideau Canal lakes. Pro tip: check the listing's mileage policy before you book, or message the host if you're planning a bigger loop.

Where are the best campgrounds near North Frontenac?

You're spoiled for choice. Bon Echo Provincial Park on Highway 41 near Cloyne is the marquee destination, with hundreds of sites across the Mazinaw Lake and Hardwood Hill areas and electrical hookups available for many RVs. Depot Lakes Conservation Area near Verona is great for families with easy drive-in lakefront sites. The North Frontenac Parklands system offers rugged drive-in and paddle-in sites on Crown land lakes like Mosque, Shabomeka, and Big Gull. Silver Lake Provincial Park on Highway 7 is another nearby option with hookups. Pro tip: for the best campgrounds near North Frontenac, book Bon Echo five months in advance the moment the Ontario Parks reservation window opens.

When is the best time to rent an RV in North Frontenac?

The sweet spot is mid-May through mid-October, when campgrounds are fully open and lakes are warm enough for swimming. July and August are peak season with daytime highs around 25 to 27 C and overnight lows near 15 C, ideal for swimming Mazinaw Lake and stargazing at the North Frontenac Dark Sky Preserve. June often brings the most rain and blackflies, while September and early October deliver brilliant fall colours across the Frontenac Arch with crisp days around 15 C and fewer crowds. Pro tip: a new-moon weekend in August lines up the Perseid meteor shower with the warmest nights of the year, perfect for RV camping North Frontenac style.

Can I rent an RV in North Frontenac during the winter?

Yes, winter rentals are possible and the area is genuinely magical under snow, with Frontenac Provincial Park offering year-round backcountry camping plus excellent snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. To rent an RV in Ontario for winter use, filter RVezy for four-season rigs and message the host to confirm heated holding tanks, propane furnace capacity, and skirting. January in the area averages highs near -6 C and lows around -16 C, so you'll want a host who has set the rig up for shore power and freeze protection. Pro tip: many winter visitors park the RV at a private host's driveway with hookups and use it as a heated basecamp for day trips into the dark-sky preserve.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in North Frontenac?

You'll be in great shape. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering everything from the propane and water systems to backing up and dumping tanks, so you're not figuring it out alone. North Frontenac's main routes (Highway 7, Highway 41, and Road 506) are well-paved two-lane roads with light traffic compared to anywhere near the GTA, which makes it an ideal place for first time renting an RV. Stick with a smaller Class C or campervan rental in North Frontenac if you want extra confidence, or pick a host who offers delivery so you don't have to drive at all. Pro tip: do your first fuel stop in Sharbot Lake or Northbrook where the pumps have plenty of room.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rv

What happens if my RV breaks down in North Frontenac?

You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Road 506 or a dead battery at Mazinaw Lake is a phone call away from help. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting on things like the awning, generator, or water pump. Cell coverage is patchy in remote North Frontenac, so it's smart to note the nearest service station before you head into the backcountry. Pro tip: Plevna, Cloyne, and Sharbot Lake all have reliable cell signal and gas stations, making them good waypoints to check in along your route.

Can I take my North Frontenac RV rental across the US border or into Quebec?

Travel into Quebec is straightforward and most hosts allow it, since Montreal is about 4 hours away via Highways 401 and 20 or via Ottawa and Highway 417. Cross-border trips into New York or Vermont are also possible with many North Frontenac hosts, but you'll need to confirm with the host before booking because insurance terms vary. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. A popular RV road trip from North Frontenac heads east through Ottawa, north to Mont-Tremblant in the Laurentians, then loops back through Algonquin Provincial Park. Pro tip: message the host from the listing page with your planned route, and bring your passport plus the host's written permission for any US crossing.

What kind of fuel economy and budget should I plan for in North Frontenac?

Plan smart and you'll be just fine. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 mpg (about 13 L/100km), Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 mpg (17 to 23 L/100km), and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas prices in rural Eastern Ontario tend to run a few cents higher than Kingston or Ottawa, so it pays to fuel up before heading north of Highway 7. A weekend loop from Kingston up through Bon Echo and back is roughly 250 km, which is very manageable on a single tank. Pro tip: there are full-service stations in Sharbot Lake, Cloyne, and Plevna, but the cheapest fuel is usually in Kingston or Napanee before you head into RV camping North Frontenac country.

How far in advance should I book a campground near North Frontenac?

Earlier is always better in this region. Ontario Parks opens campsite-specific reservations five months in advance, and prime weekends at Bon Echo Provincial Park (especially Mazinaw Lake sites with electrical hookups) can sell out within minutes. The North Frontenac Parklands backcountry system uses its own reservation process opening in advance of the season on a first-come, first-served basis. Private campgrounds in the area take direct bookings online and usually have more flexibility. Pro tip: if Bon Echo is fully booked, set a cancellation alert through a service like Campnab, then plan a backup at Depot Lakes or Silver Lake Provincial Park about 45 minutes south.

What are the roads like for driving an RV around North Frontenac?

The driving is relaxed and scenic, which is part of why this area is such a great choice for an RV rental Ontario adventure. Highway 7 and Highway 41 are well-maintained two-lane roads with gentle hills and very little stop-and-go traffic. Some backroads leading to North Frontenac Parklands lakes (like Road 509 and Buckshot Lake Road) are gravel and narrow, so larger Class A motorhomes are better suited to staying on the paved corridors. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, and slow down for the rocky cuts where the Canadian Shield comes right up to the shoulder. Pro tip: download offline Google Maps before you leave Kingston because data service drops out north of Sharbot Lake.
ontario.ca/page/road-conditions

What amenities will I find at campgrounds in North Frontenac?

Most established parks have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Bon Echo Provincial Park's Mazinaw Lake campground offers many sites with 15 or 30 amp electrical hookups, potable water taps, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Depot Lakes and Silver Lake also have dump stations and potable water available to registered campers. In the North Frontenac Parklands backcountry sites you'll have a fire pit, picnic table, and privy but no hookups, so you'll rely on your RV's onboard tanks. Pro tip: top up fresh water and dump your tanks at Bon Echo's main gatehouse before heading into more remote sites, and always check the current North Frontenac fire bylaw and any active fire ban before lighting up.

What's actually inside the RVs available for rent in North Frontenac?

More than you might expect. Most North Frontenac listings sleep 4 to 8 people and come standard with a queen or bunk-bed sleeping setup, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, propane furnace, air conditioning, and seatbelted seating. Many hosts include extras like a generator (great for dark-sky camping where you want power but no shore connection), Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and even Starlink Wi-Fi on premium listings. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm whether linens, kitchenware, and outdoor chairs are included or available as add-ons, so your first night feels like a vacation, not a shopping trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Frontenac%2C%20Ontario

What add-ons and pickup options should I expect when I rent an RV in North Frontenac?

You've got plenty of options to customize your trip. Common add-ons include bedding and towel packages, kitchen kits, camping chairs and tables, bike racks, generators, fishing gear, and stargazing kits, which feel especially fitting since you're heading to Canada's first Dark Sky Preserve. Most hosts offer flexible pickup windows and some include free local delivery within a set radius. Mileage policies typically range from 150 to 250 km per day with reasonable per-kilometre overage rates. Pro tip: when you rent an RV in North Frontenac, ask the host for their local tips, many of them know the quietest swimming spots on Kashwakamak Lake and the best vantage points at the North Frontenac Astronomy Park on Road 506.

How do payment and the security deposit work for a North Frontenac RV rental?

Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy, so you'll never hand cash or e-transfer money to the host directly. You'll pay the booking total (rental, fees, and your chosen renter protection plan) by credit card at checkout, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, with the amount set by the host and typically a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars depending on the rig. As long as you return the RV in the same condition and follow the mileage and generator rules, the deposit hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, and dash mileage at both pickup and drop-off so any questions about a scratch from a Frontenac Parklands gravel road are answered in seconds.
