Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Saint-Jérôme, QC

Is Saint-Jérôme a good base for an RV trip into the Laurentians?

Yes, Saint-Jérôme is widely considered the gateway to the Laurentians and is an excellent base for an RV rental in Quebec. The city sits directly on Autoroute 15, putting Mont-Tremblant, Parc national d'Oka, and dozens of lakes within easy reach. You will find RVezy hosts offering travel trailers, motorhomes, and campervans here, many with delivery options to local campgrounds like Camping Lac Lafontaine. Tip: combine a few nights near Saint-Jérôme with a trip further north along Route 117 to experience the full range of Laurentian scenery, from rolling farmland to mountain villages.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Saint-Jérôme?

An RV rental in Saint-Jérôme is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Laurentians. On RVezy, travel trailers typically range from about $120 to $160 per night, and motorhomes from roughly $180 to $260 per night, with peak pricing in July and August. For a cheaper RV rental in Saint-Jérôme, book mid-week in late May, June, or September when many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent off weekly bookings. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Saint-Jérôme?

A regular Class 5 Quebec driver's licence (or its equivalent from your home province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Saint-Jérôme. The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) confirms that a standard passenger vehicle licence covers motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers used for personal travel, so no commercial or RV-specific endorsement is required. On RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified during checkout. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home licence plus an International Driving Permit if it is not in English or French, and you are set for the Laurentians.

What kind of protection or insurance comes with my RV rental in Saint-Jérôme?

Every RV rental in Saint-Jérôme booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head up Autoroute 15 toward Mont-Tremblant with confidence. You choose your coverage level at checkout (not the host), and protection plans help cover physical damage to the RV during your trip. While this is not traditional auto insurance, it provides meaningful financial protection if something unexpected happens. Tip: consider a higher coverage tier for shoulder-season trips when Laurentian roads can get wet or icy, especially north of Sainte-Adèle.

What is the cancellation policy if my Saint-Jérôme RV trip plans change?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (not the host), and there is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how close you are to your trip start date. RVezy also offers support for major disruptions, which can matter in Quebec where early-season snow can occasionally affect Laurentian travel. Review the current cancellation terms shown at checkout before you book. If anything ever feels uncertain, RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after every trip to help.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Saint-Jérôme?

Yes, the Laurentians are a paradise for dogs, and many hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Saint-Jérôme. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see only listings that welcome four-legged co-pilots, then message the host to confirm any pet fees. For camping with your pup, Parc national d'Oka allows dogs in a designated sector about 35 minutes south of Saint-Jérôme, and many private Laurentian campgrounds welcome leashed pets too. Tip: pack a long lead, a water bowl, and tick prevention, since Laurentian trails are wooded and tick-active from May through October.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground near Saint-Jérôme?

Yes, RV delivery in Saint-Jérôme is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are flying into Montréal-Trudeau (YUL), about 45 minutes south. Many RVezy hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campground (Camping Lac Lafontaine, Parc national d'Oka, or a Mont-Tremblant site, for example), level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system. Just turn on the Delivery filter when you search and review each host's delivery radius and per-kilometre fee. Tip: delivery is a great choice for a first time renting an RV, because you skip city traffic on Highway 15 and arrive to a fully set-up campsite.

How far can I drive on an RV trip from Saint-Jérôme?

Saint-Jérôme sits right at the gateway of the Laurentians on Autoroute 15, making it a strong launchpad for an RV road trip. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 200 km per day), and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is worth filtering for on longer loops. Popular distances: Mont-Tremblant is about 90 km north, Montreal 50 km south, Ottawa 200 km west, Quebec City 300 km east, and the U.S. border at Lacolle roughly 120 km south. Tip: ask the host upfront about extra-kilometre fees (typically $0.30 to $0.45 per km) so you can budget accurately.

Where are the best campgrounds near Saint-Jérôme for RV camping?

You have fantastic options for RV camping Saint-Jérôme right at your doorstep. Camping Lac Lafontaine, inside Saint-Jérôme itself, is a 4-star Camping Québec resort with full hookups, a heated pool, and waterfront sites. Parc national d'Oka (35 minutes south) offers serviced and rustic sites near a long sandy beach on Lac des Deux Montagnes. Parc national du Mont-Tremblant, about 90 minutes north, has the La Diable and La Pimbina sectors with hundreds of RV-friendly sites along rivers and lakes. For something boutique, Huttopia Les Deux Lacs in the upper Laurentians blends nature with comfort. Insider tip: book Sépaq parks the moment reservations open (usually January for the summer season) because waterfront sites disappear fast.
sepaq.com/en/reservation/camping

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Saint-Jérôme?

The sweet spot for an RV rental Quebec adventure out of Saint-Jérôme runs from mid-May through early October, with July and August offering the warmest days (highs around 25 to 27°C) and most campgrounds fully open. June is a local secret: lakes are warming up, blackflies are fading, and rates are lower than peak summer. September and early October deliver world-class Laurentian fall foliage, with maples turning fiery red against Mont-Tremblant's slopes. Winters are frigid (January nights drop to around -16°C), so most campgrounds close from late October to late April. Insider tip: book a September week and combine RV camping with the Festival des couleurs at Mont-Tremblant for unforgettable autumn views.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be able to figure it out?

Yes, and you're in good company: most renters in Saint-Jérôme are doing this for the first time. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through driving, hookups, the propane system, the toilet, slide-outs, and how to dump tanks. You can also message your host before booking with any questions, and RVezy's 24/7 support is one phone call away if something comes up at a campground near Saint-Sauveur or in Mont-Tremblant village. Pro tip for first-timers: choose a Class B campervan or smaller Class C motorhome for your first trip. They drive almost like a large van and easily handle the curvy roads up Route 117 into the Laurentians.
saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/road-safety/modes-transportation/motor-home

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You are covered, day or night. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Autoroute 15 or a battery issue at Parc national du Mont-Tremblant is just a phone call away from help. Your host is also a direct resource, since they know their RV best, and most are happy to troubleshoot small things over text. RVezy's support team can coordinate towing, repairs, or alternate arrangements if needed. Tip: before you leave Saint-Jérôme, save the roadside assistance number in your phone and snap a photo of the host's walkthrough notes so everything is handy.

Can I take my Saint-Jérôme RV rental across the border into the U.S.?

Cross-border travel into the United States is often possible with an RV rental in Saint-Jérôme, but you must get written approval from your host first, since insurance and protection coverage need to be confirmed for U.S. travel. Popular U.S. routes from Saint-Jérôme include Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks in New York (about 2 hours via the Lacolle crossing) and Vermont's Green Mountains (around 3 hours). Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because coverage does not extend there. Tip: message the host before booking with your exact route, and have your passport ready.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Saint-Jérôme RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable cost on any Laurentian RV adventure, so let's get specific. Class C motorhomes typically average 18 to 22 litres per 100 km, Class B campervans 12 to 16 L/100km, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 15 to 20 L/100km). Quebec gas prices generally sit at the higher end in Canada, often around $1.55 to $1.75 per litre in 2026, with the cheapest stations usually clustered around Mirabel and Boisbriand south of Saint-Jérôme. A weekend trip to Mont-Tremblant and back (about 200 km round trip) typically costs $60 to $90 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Saint-Jérôme before heading north, because prices climb noticeably past Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts.
rncan.gc.ca/our-natural-resources/domestic-international-markets/transportation-fuel-prices/4593

How far in advance should I book a campground near Saint-Jérôme?

Book early to lock in the best spots. Sépaq, the provincial agency that runs Quebec's national parks including Mont-Tremblant and Oka, opens summer reservations in January each year, and waterfront and full-service RV sites can sell out within hours for July and August weekends. Private parks like Camping Lac Lafontaine and Huttopia Les Deux Lacs typically open bookings 6 to 12 months ahead. For shoulder-season trips (late May, June, September), you can often book just 2 to 4 weeks out and still get great sites. Insider tip: if your dates are flexible, search Sépaq's reservation site for mid-week openings. Tuesday-to-Thursday stays are far easier to grab than Friday-to-Sunday in the Laurentians.
sepaq.com/en/reservation

What are driving conditions like around Saint-Jérôme and the Laurentians?

Driving an RV around Saint-Jérôme is very manageable. Autoroute 15 runs north into the Laurentians with wide lanes and gentle grades up to Mont-Tremblant, while Route 117 takes over for the more scenic northern stretch with some hills and curves. Saint-Jérôme itself has standard urban streets, so Class A and Class C motorhomes have no trouble. Watch for spring potholes (worst in April and May after the freeze-thaw cycle) and occasional winter snow squalls north of Sainte-Adèle from November through March. Tip: avoid Friday afternoons in summer when Montrealers head north en masse, and try leaving Saint-Jérôme before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m.
quebec511.info/en/default.aspx

What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Saint-Jérôme?

Laurentian campgrounds are generally well-equipped for RVs. At private parks like Camping Lac Lafontaine, expect 30-amp or 50-amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups at most sites, plus Wi-Fi, laundry, showers, a pool, and a dump station. Sépaq parks like Oka and Mont-Tremblant typically offer two or three-service sites along with non-serviced loops, plus a central dump station and potable water fill. Many sites include a fire pit and picnic table. Tip on where to park an RV in Saint-Jérôme between trips or to refill water: Camping Lac Lafontaine sells day-use dump and fill privileges, and several local stations carry propane refills.
sepaq.com/camping/index.dot?language_id=1

What is actually inside the RVs available to rent in Saint-Jérôme?

You will be impressed by how home-like Saint-Jérôme rentals are. Most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers on RVezy sleep 4 to 7 people across queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes, with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (furnace and air conditioning), and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a generator for off-grid power. Campervan rentals in Saint-Jérôme are smaller and ideal for couples, with clever compact kitchens and pop-tops. Tip: filter by Sleeps count, check listing photos, and message hosts to confirm Wi-Fi, generator hours, and whether linens and kitchenware are included.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Saint-J%C3%A9r%C3%B4me%2C%20Quebec

What add-ons can I get with my Saint-Jérôme RV rental, and how does pickup work?

Hosts in Saint-Jérôme offer many optional add-ons to make your trip easier: bedding and towel kits ($30 to $75), kitchen packages ($25 to $50), camping chairs, bike racks, BBQs, generators, and even kayak or paddleboard rentals. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on, usually priced per kilometre from the host's location. Pickup is straightforward: meet the host at their address (often a residential driveway in or near Saint-Jérôme), do a 30 to 60-minute walkthrough, sign the trip paperwork, and drive off. Drop-off is the same in reverse, with the RV expected back at the agreed time and reasonably clean. Tip: ask about an early-pickup or late-return add-on if your schedule is tight.

How does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Saint-Jérôme?

Payment on RVezy is simple and secure, all handled through the platform. You pay a portion at booking and the balance before your trip starts, with no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held on your credit card (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) shortly before your trip and released after a successful return, separately from your booking payment. To avoid deposit issues on your family RV trip in Saint-Jérôme, do a careful walkthrough with the host at pickup and drop-off, take time-stamped photos of the exterior and interior, and return the RV with the fuel and propane levels matching the start of your trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

What are the best road trip destinations to explore from Saint-Jérôme?

Saint-Jérôme is a great launchpad for a Laurentian RV adventure. Top picks: Mont-Tremblant village and Parc national du Mont-Tremblant (about 90 km / 1 hour north) for hiking, paddling, and the pedestrian village; Parc national d'Oka (about 40 km / 35 minutes south) for sandy beaches on Lac des Deux Montagnes; Ottawa and Gatineau Park (about 200 km / 2 hours west) for capital sights and waterfalls; Quebec City's Old Town (about 300 km / 3 hours east) for European charm; and the Eastern Townships wineries around Magog (about 200 km / 2 hours southeast). Tip: take Route 117 instead of Autoroute 15 between Sainte-Adèle and Mont-Tremblant for mountain views, antique shops, and classic Quebec villages.
