We had a really great experience renting this RV from Warren. He was super easy to work with and communicated really well the whole time. This was our first time using RVezy and he helped make it simple and easy. The RV was just as described and ready to go when we picked it up. It's also well stocked with everything needed for the RV and for full site hookup. Would definitely rent this RV again and highly recommend!

We rented this RV for our first Stagecoach trip, and it was a fantastic experience. The owners were incredibly kind, warm, communicative, and very first-time renter friendly. They even accommodated a last-minute request for us, which we really appreciated and speaks to how helpful and flexible they are. Since renting an RV comes with a bit of a learning curve, I definitely recommend watching the video links they provide and maybe a few extra YouTube tutorials before your trip. That said, whenever we had questions, the owners were quick to respond and super helpful. The RV itself was spacious and very comfortable for my husband and me. I’m also a bit of a germaphobe, so cleanliness is a big deal to me. I brought Clorox wipes expecting to do a deep clean, but I was pleasantly surprised at how clean it already was—even in the little nooks and crannies where you’d normally expect dust or grime. It was also well stocked with essentials like RV toilet paper, cleaning supplies, a fire extinguisher, and smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, which gave us extra peace of mind. Some of the sensors were a little finicky at times, but again, the owners were immediately responsive whenever we reached out. One helpful tip for future renters: if you plan to pick it up before departure and want the fridge cooled down before stocking it with perishables, I’d recommend picking it up at least a day early and purchasing an RV power cord adapter so you can plug it in at home. Make sure the RV is level as well, since that helps the fridge cool properly. Overall, this was an excellent first RV rental experience, and I would absolutely rent from them again for another festival or getaway.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Borrego Springs, CA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Borrego Springs?

RV rental in Borrego Springs is approachable for most budgets, especially outside peak winter dates. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from about $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes generally run $250 and up. Because Borrego Springs is a peak winter destination, the best savings come from booking midweek between June and September, or choosing shoulder dates in late October or early May. For a cheap RV rental in Borrego Springs, filter by travel trailers, use the price slider, and message hosts about multi-night discounts. Pro tip: booking a delivered trailer lets you skip a tow vehicle entirely, which often saves more than the delivery fee.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Borrego Springs, California?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Borrego Springs. California does not require a special endorsement or commercial driver's license for the RVs available on RVezy, including Class A motorhomes and large fifth wheels (the non-commercial Class B license only applies to certain very large or specially configured rigs that are not typical rentals). Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens inside the platform when you book. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit from your local auto association. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly they're handed the keys and rolling toward Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

What protection or coverage is included with my Borrego Springs RV rental?

Every RV rental in Borrego Springs booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on Highway S22 with real peace of mind. You select your protection level at checkout (not the host), and each tier covers physical damage to the RV up to specified limits. If a desert windstorm kicks up gravel near Font's Point or you scrape a side mirror in a tight campground loop, you have substantial financial protection in place. This is not traditional auto insurance, but it is designed for the realities of an Anza-Borrego RV trip. Pick the tier that matches your comfort level and head out confident.

What if I need to cancel my Borrego Springs RV trip?

Life happens, and RVezy uses a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy that applies to every booking. Cancellation terms are set by RVezy (not by individual hosts), and your refund eligibility depends on how far in advance of your trip start date you cancel. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps you find a replacement RV or issues a refund. You can review the full cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm, so booking your Borrego Springs RV rental is genuinely low-risk and you can lock in prime January wildflower dates with confidence.

Can I bring my dog on a Borrego Springs RV rental?

Yes, and Borrego Springs is a welcoming desert town for dog lovers. Many hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Borrego Springs; just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see eligible listings instantly. Inside Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, leashed dogs are welcome in campgrounds, picnic areas, and on paved roads, but they are not allowed on hiking trails or in the backcountry in order to protect bighorn sheep and other wildlife. Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort and The Springs at Borrego both welcome leashed dogs at their sites. Pro tip: walk early in the morning, even during cooler months, and always carry water, since desert pavement heats up quickly.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Borrego Springs?

Yes, RV delivery in Borrego Springs is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer if you would rather skip towing through the mountain grades on Highways 78 or S22. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to Borrego Palm Canyon Campground, The Springs at Borrego RV Resort, or Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Use the Delivery filter to see hosts offering this option, and message them with your campsite number. Pro tip: ask about a fully stocked setup with linens and camp chairs so you arrive to a turn-key motorhome rental in Borrego Springs.

How does mileage work, and how far can I drive from Borrego Springs?

Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies, and you will see the daily allowance and per-mile overage rate clearly on every listing before you book. Some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer Borrego Springs RV trip. For planning: it is about 90 miles (around 2 hours) from Borrego Springs to San Diego, roughly 30 miles to Salton Sea State Recreation Area's headquarters, about 85 miles to Palm Springs, and roughly 100 miles to Joshua Tree National Park's south entrance. Pro tip: if you are road-tripping a Salton Sea loop and back, choose a listing with at least 150 free miles per day to avoid overage fees.

Where are the best campgrounds near Borrego Springs to park an RV?

You have great options. The best campgrounds near Borrego Springs include Borrego Palm Canyon Campground inside Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, with about 120 sites, some full-hookup sites, and a trailhead to the Palm Canyon oasis right from camp. The Springs at Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course offers full-hookup sites, mineral pools, and a 9-hole course. Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort sits near the park entrance with a Wild West theme and pools. Tamarisk Grove Campground is a smaller, more rustic state-park option, and Leapin' Lizard RV Ranch is a friendly mid-tier choice. Book Borrego Palm Canyon through ReserveCalifornia up to six months ahead for January through March visits.

When is the best time of year to visit Borrego Springs in an RV?

The sweet spot for RV camping in Borrego Springs is October through April, when daytime highs typically sit between 70 and 85 F and nights cool into the 40s and 50s, perfect for campfires and stargazing in this designated International Dark Sky Community. Peak season runs January through March, when wildflower superblooms can carpet the desert floor after a wet winter. From June through September, highs regularly exceed 105 F, so many park facilities scale back their hours. Pro tip: aim for late February through mid-March for the best combination of mild weather, blooms, and clear skies, but reserve campgrounds early because they fill quickly.

I'm a first-time renter, is driving an RV in Borrego Springs hard?

You will do great. First time renting an RV is less intimidating than it sounds, especially in Borrego Springs, where Palm Canyon Drive and the main valley roads are wide, flat, and lightly trafficked compared with coastal California. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering propane, water, slide-outs, and the dump procedure, and you can message them anytime during your trip. If you are nervous about the mountain descent on Highway S22 from Montezuma Valley, choose a delivered RV instead. Pro tip: practice a few right turns and a back-in near your host's pickup spot before heading to camp, then enjoy the ride.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Borrego Springs trip?

You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so whether you have a flat on Borrego Salton Seaway (S22), a dead battery near Font's Point overlook, or a generator that will not start at a primitive site, one phone call gets help on the way. Cell service in Borrego Springs proper is reliable on most carriers, but coverage drops off in the backcountry, so screenshot your roadside number before heading out. Your host is also just a message away for quick troubleshooting. Pro tip: download offline maps before you leave town, since deeper desert canyons have no signal.

Can I take my Borrego Springs RV rental on a longer road trip?

Yes, an RV road trip from Borrego Springs is one of the best ways to see the Southwest. Popular routes include Joshua Tree National Park (about 100 miles north), Salton Sea and Slab City (around 60 miles east), Julian and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park (about 45 miles west through the mountains), and Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley (about 85 miles). Cross-border travel into Mexico is not covered by RVezy's protection plans, so plan to stay in the U.S. Trips into Arizona or Nevada are generally fine, but confirm with your host before booking. Pro tip: a Borrego Springs to Joshua Tree to Salton Sea triangle makes a great 5-day loop.

How much should I budget for fuel during a Borrego Springs RV trip?

Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, so plan ahead. Most Class C motorhomes you'll find in Borrego Springs get about 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans about 16 to 20, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages around 10 to 13. California gas prices run higher than the national average, often $4.50 to $5.50 per gallon in the Borrego Springs area, and there are only a couple of stations in town, so top off in Salton City or Julian before arriving. For a 5-night trip with 400 miles of driving in a Class C, expect roughly $200 to $275 in fuel. Pro tip: filling up in Julian on the way in is often cheaper than fueling in Borrego Springs.
energy.ca.gov/data-reports/energy-almanac/transportation-energy/california-retail-fuel-outlet-annual-reporting

How far in advance should I book a campground in Borrego Springs?

For prime winter and spring dates, book as soon as the window opens. ReserveCalifornia, the official California State Parks reservation system, allows bookings up to six months in advance, and Borrego Palm Canyon Campground sites for January through March wildflower season often fill the day they release. For October, November, December, and April trips, aim for two to three months out. Summer is essentially walk-up, with most state-park sites available first-come, first-served. Private resorts like The Springs at Borrego and Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort book directly through their websites. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly six months before your target date and book right when reservations open at 8 a.m. Pacific.
reservecalifornia.com/

What are driving conditions like around Borrego Springs?

Driving in and around Borrego Springs is generally pleasant, with light traffic, well-maintained pavement, and big sky views. The main approaches are Highway 78 from the west, Highway S22 (Montezuma Valley Road) descending several thousand feet of switchbacks from Ranchita, and S22 east toward the Salton Sea. Take the Montezuma grade slowly in low gear, especially in a larger motorhome. Watch for flash-flood warnings between July and September, when monsoon storms can wash debris and water across paved roads in minutes, and never drive into standing water. High winds can also kick up dust through Clark Valley. Pro tip: avoid the dirt jeep roads (like the route to Font's Point) in any rental RV; take a guided 4x4 tour instead.
quickmap.dot.ca.gov/

What amenities will I find at Borrego Springs campgrounds?

You will find a real range of amenities, which makes it easy to match the trip to your style. Borrego Palm Canyon Campground offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric) at many sites, flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. The Springs at Borrego RV Resort has 50-amp full hookups at every site, mineral hot pools, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort includes pools, a saloon, and an on-site restaurant. For water fills and dumping outside the park, head to The Springs or Palm Canyon Hotel, both of which sell day passes. Pro tip: cell signal is strongest near the visitor center end of Palm Canyon Drive if you need to work remotely.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=638

What's actually inside an RVezy rental in Borrego Springs?

More than you might expect. Most motorhome rentals in Borrego Springs come with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa beds, a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof-mounted air conditioning (essential here), a propane furnace for cool desert nights, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many include a generator, solar panels, outdoor shower, awning, and a TV; Wi-Fi varies, but some hosts offer mobile hotspots as add-ons. Campervan rental in Borrego Springs trends smaller and more nimble, ideal for couples. Pro tip: review the listing's amenities checklist carefully and message the host to confirm AC capacity, especially if you are visiting in April or October.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Borrego%20Springs%2C%20California

What add-ons and pickup options do hosts offer?

Plenty, and they make a Borrego Springs RV trip much smoother. Common add-ons include linen and bedding packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, portable grills, generators, bike racks, and pet-cleaning fees (typically $25 to $75). Delivery is the biggest one in this area: many hosts charge a flat fee plus a per-mile rate to drop off and set up at Borrego Palm Canyon Campground, The Springs at Borrego, or your vacation rental driveway. Pickup is usually self-serve from the host's location in San Diego, Temecula, or the Inland Empire, with a 60 to 90-minute orientation. Each listing spells out fees, mileage policy, and generator hours up front. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a starter kit so you arrive to a campsite that is already trip-ready.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and handled entirely inside the RVezy platform, with no cash exchange or off-platform transfers. You pay your rental total securely by credit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup, typically between $500 and $1,500 depending on the RV's value. Assuming the rig comes back as it left, with a clean interior, propane and fuel as agreed, and no damage, the hold is released after your trip. Pro tip: walk around the RV with your host at pickup and dropoff and snap timestamped photos of any existing scratches, especially under the awning where blowing Borrego Springs sand can leave marks. That ten-minute habit prevents most deposit issues.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

How do I handle the desert heat if I'm visiting Borrego Springs in summer?

Summer in Borrego Springs brings real desert heat, with regular highs of 105 to 115 F from June through September, but plenty of RVers still come and have a great time with the right plan. Book a site with 50-amp full hookups so your rooftop AC can run continuously, drive in the early morning or after sunset to spare the engine and tires, and carry at least one gallon of water per person per day. Most hikes are off-limits midday, so flip your schedule: explore Palm Canyon at sunrise, rest and swim through the afternoon, then enjoy Borrego Springs' world-famous dark skies after dusk. Pro tip: book a host whose AC has been serviced recently and confirm the generator runs reliably, in case shore power flickers.
