We had a terrific 9-day trip in Dennis' RV, from Salt Lake through Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Bozeman and back. The RV was clean, very well-equipped with all the bedding, cooking and camp furnishings you need. The 1st night, I struggled getting the a/c to run (my fault) and Dennis showed up at 10 pm at my campground to assist! And I'd driven 80 miles from where I'd picked it up from him. What a star. RV was easy to drive, all systems ran well. Overall a great experience. Would certainly use his RV again, if we're out that way. Highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Driggs, ID

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Driggs, ID?

RV rental in Driggs is affordable for a gateway to the Tetons, especially compared to renting on the Wyoming side. On RVezy, you typically find travel trailers starting around $95 to $150 per night, campervans from $150 to $225, and larger Class C motorhomes in the $200 to $325 range. Because hosts set their own pricing, you can sort by price and find a cheap RV rental in Driggs by booking midweek or in the shoulder seasons of late May or September. Pro tip: hosts often discount weekly stays by 10 to 20 percent, so if you are combining Grand Targhee, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton in one trip, ask about a longer booking to stretch your dollar further.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Driggs, Idaho?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Driggs, Idaho. There is no CDL or special RV endorsement required, even for larger Class A motorhomes or fifth wheels in Teton County. You need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking, so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home country's auto association before flying into Jackson Hole Airport or Idaho Falls Regional, and you are set to drive Highway 33 straight to the Tetons.

Is my RV rental in Driggs covered if something goes wrong?

Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 33 toward Teton Pass with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle, and during checkout you choose the coverage level that fits your trip, whether you are sticking to paved roads near Driggs or venturing into Caribou-Targhee National Forest. Combined with RVezy's support team available before, during, and after your trip, you can focus on Teton sunrises instead of worst-case scenarios. This is a great safety net if it is your first time renting an RV.

What if I need to cancel my Driggs RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not the host, and it includes a full money-back grace period after you book. That means if your plans for Grand Targhee or Yellowstone shift, you have a window to cancel and get your money back. After that, the refund amount depends on how close you are to your trip start date. You will see the exact policy details on the RVezy website during checkout. If the host cancels, RVezy refunds you or offers travel credits so you are never left stranded. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Driggs RVs, knowing you have flexibility built in.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Driggs?

Absolutely, and Teton Valley is one of the most dog-loving corners of Idaho. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental in Driggs that welcomes your pup, and message the host first if you have a larger breed or more than one dog. Once you arrive, dogs are allowed on-leash throughout Caribou-Targhee National Forest trails, the Teton Creek pathway, and Driggs City Park. Heads up: dogs aren't allowed on most trails inside Grand Teton National Park, so plan paw-friendly hikes on the Idaho side. Local insider tip: Citizen 33 Brewery in downtown Driggs has a dog-friendly patio, perfect for an after-hike beer.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Driggs?

Yes, RV delivery in Driggs is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if you are flying into Jackson Hole Airport (about 50 minutes away via Teton Pass) or Idaho Falls Regional (about 75 minutes west). Many RVezy hosts offer delivery and setup directly to Teton Valley Resort in Victor, Teton Peaks Resort in Tetonia, or even a private cabin near Grand Targhee. The host levels the rig, hooks up water and power, walks you through the systems, and hands you the keys. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and message your host to confirm the address and any delivery fee. It is the easiest way to enjoy a Driggs RV trip without ever towing a thing.

How many miles can I drive on my Driggs RV rental?

Mileage is generous in Teton Valley because hosts know you will want to explore. Most RVezy listings in Driggs include 100 to 150 free miles per day, and some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is a great pick if you are planning a big loop. From Driggs, it is about 30 miles to Jackson, Wyoming, 90 miles to Yellowstone's South Entrance, 110 miles to West Yellowstone, and 80 miles to Idaho Falls. Each listing clearly shows the daily mileage allowance and any per-mile overage fee, so you can budget with confidence. Pro tip: if you are doing the full Yellowstone and Grand Teton loop, filter for unlimited mileage upfront and save yourself the math.

Where are the best campgrounds near Driggs for RV camping?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Driggs. Teton Valley Resort in Victor (about 8 miles south) is a longtime favorite with full hookups, crushed-stone pads, and big-rig-friendly sites open roughly May through mid-October. Teton Peaks Resort in Tetonia offers RV sites with arguably the best Teton views in the valley. For a more rustic vibe, Mike Harris Campground in Caribou-Targhee National Forest sits just outside Driggs with vault toilets and fire rings from late May through September. Reuter Campground near the Wyoming line and Teton Canyon Campground are also great forest service picks. Book early for July and August, especially around the Tour de Teton and Music on Main events.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Driggs, Idaho?

The sweet spot for an RV trip in Driggs is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs sit between 70 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit and the Tetons are snow-free for hiking. July is the warmest and driest month (with about 11 hours of sunshine a day), August brings huckleberry season and slightly cooler nights, and early September delivers golden aspens with thinner crowds. Late May and early October are fantastic shoulder windows if you don't mind chilly nights dipping into the 30s. Local insider tip: aim for the second week of September, when the Tour de Teton cycling event and the start of fall colors collide for one of the prettiest weeks of the year.

Can I rent an RV in Driggs in winter for a ski trip?

Yes, winter RV rentals in Driggs are absolutely doable and a memorable way to ski Grand Targhee Resort, which gets more than 500 inches of snowfall in a typical season. Many RVezy hosts in Teton Valley list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces designed for sub-zero nights. You'll want to stay at a campground with shore power and winter water service, since most public campgrounds close by mid-October. Filter for hosts who explicitly allow winter rentals, message them about snow tire requirements for Highway 33 and Ski Hill Road, and ask about generator add-ons. Pro tip: a heated, plowed RV pad in Victor plus a 12-mile drive to Targhee equals the most underrated ski basecamp in the Rockies.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Driggs?

You'll be in great shape, and Teton Valley is actually one of the friendliest places in the country for first time renting an RV. Highway 33 through Driggs is wide, flat, and lightly trafficked, with sweeping farm views and plenty of room to get comfortable behind the wheel. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, leveling, and dump procedures so you're never left guessing. If Teton Pass into Jackson feels intimidating, just take the longer (but mellower) route south through Swan Valley instead. Pro tip: ask your host for a quick parking demo at Driggs City Park before you head out, you'll feel like a pro within an hour.

What happens if my RV breaks down on the way to Yellowstone?

You are covered: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are on Highway 33 outside Driggs or climbing toward Togwotee Pass on your way to Yellowstone. The roadside team handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. Your host is also just a message away for quick questions about quirks of their specific rig. Cell service is solid in Driggs, Victor, and along most of the route to Jackson, but it can get patchy inside Yellowstone, so download offline maps before you go. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV at pickup so you have a baseline if anything happens.

Can I take my Driggs RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes, interstate travel is encouraged, and Driggs is a perfect launchpad for it. You can drive your RV rental into Wyoming (Jackson, Grand Teton, and Yellowstone are all next door), Montana (West Yellowstone is 110 miles north), or Utah (Bear Lake is a scenic 3.5-hour drive south). Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed depending on the specific host and protection coverage, so message the host before booking to confirm. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: a classic 7-day RV road trip from Driggs hits Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and the Beartooth Highway in Montana.

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how much will gas cost?

Expect realistic MPG of 8 to 10 for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 for Class C, 15 to 20 for campervans, and roughly the tow-vehicle's MPG minus 3 to 5 when pulling a travel trailer. Gas prices in Teton County, Idaho tend to run close to the Idaho state average, while filling up in Jackson, Wyoming is usually 30 to 60 cents more per gallon, so top off in Driggs or Victor before crossing Teton Pass. A typical 5-day loop covering Grand Teton and Yellowstone (about 350 miles) costs roughly $130 to $200 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: the Maverik on North Main in Driggs is a local favorite for competitive prices and easy RV pull-through access.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Driggs?

For July and August, book your campground 4 to 6 months ahead, especially anything inside Grand Teton or Yellowstone National Parks, which open reservations on Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance and fill within minutes. For private RV parks like Teton Valley Resort and Teton Peaks Resort, 2 to 3 months ahead is usually enough, though weekends in July sell out faster. Caribou-Targhee National Forest sites like Teton Canyon and Mike Harris also book through Recreation.gov. Pro tip: set a Recreation.gov alert for cancellations, spots inside Grand Teton open up almost daily as plans shift, and a last-minute Gros Ventre Campground site is one of the best wins you can score on a Driggs RV trip.

What are the driving conditions like around Driggs?

Driving around Driggs is genuinely pleasant: Highway 33 is a wide, flat, two-lane road through farmland with the Tetons rising on the horizon, perfect for a relaxed motorhome rental in Driggs. The main thing to know is Teton Pass (Highway 22) into Jackson, which climbs to 8,431 feet with 10 percent grades, steep enough that some larger RVs and trailers are advised to use the longer Swan Valley route via Highway 26 instead. In winter, Idaho Transportation Department requires traction tires or chains on the pass during storms. Summer afternoon thunderstorms are brief but intense, so plan big drives for mornings. Pro tip: check Idaho 511 before you go for real-time road and pass conditions.
511.idaho.gov/

What amenities do campgrounds near Driggs offer, and where can I dump or fill water?

Campgrounds around Driggs range from full-service resorts to rustic forest sites, so you can pick what fits your trip. Teton Valley Resort, Teton Peaks Resort, and Mountain River Ranch offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, and laundry. Mike Harris and Teton Canyon campgrounds in the national forest have potable water and vault toilets but no hookups, ideal for a quieter night. Dump stations are available at Teton Valley Resort, Yellowstone Golf Resort at Aspen Acres, and the Driggs City Park dump station for a small fee. Pro tip: fill your fresh tank before heading into Grand Teton, as in-park dump and fill stations get long lines by mid-morning in summer.

How does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Driggs?

Payment is straightforward and fully handled through the RVezy platform, so there is no cash changing hands at pickup in Driggs. You pay your rental total securely through the website at booking, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card a few days before your trip starts, not actually charged unless there is an issue. Deposit amounts vary by rig but typically run $500 to $1,500, and the hold is released shortly after a successful return. To avoid any deposit issues, do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's fuel and dump-tank instructions, and keep your generator hours within the included allowance. Easy, transparent, and built for peace of mind.
