Michael2 trips - Joined Aug 2024

Michael provided my husband and me with “Rosie” after he had to cancel our original reservation for “Judy” two days before we were scheduled to begin our trip to Moab, Utah. After some panic, we arrived in Las Vegas and picked up the van and began our drive to Moab to meet up with our son and daughter-in- law for a week of camping and hiking. Despite some pretty annoying electrical problems with the van throughout the week, we did have a wonderful time. This was, in part, due to my husband’s and son’s abilities to figure out some ways around the issues, but also because of Michael’s prompt response to our texts and phone calls and his thorough knowledge of the van. We couldn’t have asked for a more responsive and concerned host- thank you for that. And thank you for scrambling to get us into a van that provided us with such a great week as a family.

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Belgrade options are plentiful, and Montana is one of the most dog-loving states in the country. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see Belgrade rigs that welcome four-legged co-pilots, and message the host if you want to confirm details like a pet cleaning fee. I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay picking one up in Belgrade?

You'll do great, first time renting an RV is exactly the scenario RVezy is built for. Every Belgrade host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering the propane, water, slide-outs, generator, and dump procedures, plus they're a text away during your trip. If you're nervous about driving a big rig out of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport traffic, start with a Class B campervan rental Belgrade-style or a smaller travel trailer, they handle like a large van. Most local roads, including I-90 and US-191 toward Big Sky, are well-maintained and RV-friendly. Pro tip: do a short practice loop through Belgrade's quieter neighborhoods before heading into Gallatin Canyon, you'll feel like a pro by mile 10.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

Pro tip: cell service drops between Belgrade and Yellowstone's interior, so download offline maps and save the roadside assistance number to your phone before leaving the Gallatin Valley. Most issues are minor and resolved within a couple of hours.

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how much should I budget for gas?

Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and large Class A rigs run 7 to 10 MPG. Truck-and-trailer setups land around 10 to 13 MPG. Gas prices in Belgrade typically hover near the Montana state average (often $0.10 to $0.20 below the national average), and you'll find Town Pump and Sinclair stations with RV-friendly pumps along Jackrabbit Lane and I-90. For a 5-day Yellowstone loop covering roughly 500 miles in a Class C, budget around $200 to $275 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up in Belgrade or Bozeman before heading into Yellowstone, prices inside the park and in Gardiner can spike considerably.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Belgrade?

Book early and your Yellowstone-area RV trip will be stress-free. Yellowstone's in-park campgrounds (Fishing Bridge RV Park, Madison, Canyon, Grant) open reservations on Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance and routinely sell out within hours for July and August dates. Private RV parks like Bozeman Hot Springs and Yellowstone's Edge fill 2 to 3 months out for summer weekends. Custer Gallatin National Forest campgrounds (Hood Creek, Langohr, Greek Creek) also use Recreation.gov and book 2 to 4 months ahead. Pro tip: if you miss out, set up a Recreation.gov campsite alert, cancellations happen daily, especially Sunday and Monday nights. Or filter for RVezy hosts who deliver to private land for a cancellation-proof Plan B.

What are local driving conditions like around Belgrade and the Gallatin Valley?

You'll find driving here mostly smooth and scenic. I-90 through Belgrade and Bozeman is wide, well-maintained, and easy for first-time RV drivers. US-191 south through Gallatin Canyon to Big Sky is winding and narrow in spots, so take it slow and pull over to let faster traffic by. Wildlife (deer, elk, bison) is a real consideration, especially at dawn and dusk near Yellowstone, so cruise under the speed limit. Winter brings snow, ice, and chain requirements over Bozeman Pass and Beartooth, while summer thunderstorms can produce sudden hail. Pro tip: check Montana's 511 system before any drive, it shows real-time road closures and chain laws across the state.
mdt.mt.gov/travinfo/map/

What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Belgrade?

Most RV parks in the Gallatin Valley have you covered. Private campgrounds like Bozeman Hot Springs, Sunrise Campground, and Yellowstone's Edge offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and propane refills. Forest Service campgrounds in Hyalite Canyon and along the Gallatin River are more rustic, expect vault toilets, potable water spigots, and fire rings, but no hookups. For dumping and filling between trips, the Bozeman Wastewater Reclamation Facility, Bozeman Hot Springs RV Park, and most Town Pump stations offer dump stations (some free, some $10-$15). Pro tip: top off fresh water and dump before heading into Yellowstone, in-park dump stations are limited and often have lines in peak summer.

What features and amenities come with Belgrade RV rentals?

Belgrade rentals are surprisingly well-equipped for both Yellowstone adventures and ski-season comfort. Expect real beds (queens and bunks), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, a wet or dry bath with toilet and shower, climate control with furnace and AC, and seatbelted seating for everyone on board. Many local rigs include a generator or solar setup for off-grid nights in Custer Gallatin National Forest, plus TVs, Bluetooth stereos, and even Starlink Wi-Fi on premium listings. Pro tip: when comparing a campervan rental Belgrade vs. a Class C, check the listing for "4-season insulation" and heated holding tanks if you're traveling in shoulder season, Montana nights can dip below freezing well into May.
nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm

What add-ons can I get, and how do pickup and drop-off work?

Belgrade hosts make logistics easy. Common add-ons include bedding and linen packages ($30-$75), kitchen kits ($25-$50), camp chairs and outdoor mats, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and BBQ grills, all visible on each listing's add-on menu. Pickup is typically at the host's Belgrade or Bozeman home, often within 5-10 minutes of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, making fly-in trips seamless. Many hosts also offer airport meet-and-greet pickups for a small fee. Drop-off times are flexible if you message ahead, and a quick walk-around inspection wraps up your trip. Pro tip: bundle the bedding kit and propane add-on, you'll save the hassle of hunting for supplies after landing in Bozeman late at night.

How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy, no cash exchanges with hosts and no off-platform payment requests. You pay your rental total securely by credit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup, separate from your booking payment. If the RV comes back in the same condition it left, the hold is released after the trip ends. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around video at pickup and drop-off, it is the single best way to avoid disputes and ensure your deposit is released quickly.

Can I take a winter RV trip from Belgrade for skiing at Big Sky or Bridger Bowl?

Yes, and it's becoming one of Belgrade's most popular use cases. Winter RV rentals are available on RVezy, and many local hosts specifically equip their rigs with heated holding tanks, skirting-ready setups, and reliable propane furnaces for ski-season stays. Bridger Bowl is just 25 miles north of Belgrade, and Big Sky Resort is 50 miles south down US-191. Several RV parks (including Bozeman Hot Springs) stay open year-round with shore power so your tanks won't freeze. Pro tip: ask your host for a winter-prep walkthrough including how to manage the furnace, prevent frozen lines, and run the generator in cold weather, then enjoy hot tubbing at Bozeman Hot Springs after a powder day at Bridger.
