2020 Thor Motor Coach Class C
As a first time RVer I was very, very nervous to take the RV and hit the road. However, the main thing Luna and Summer said was that we were their priority and if I had any issues, to call them and they would be there for support. That is exactly what they did. Every time I had a question or problem, all of the problems I had were my user error, they answered my call or text immediately and walked me through it. I am forever grateful on that end. The RV rode very well in the Tennessee mountains and across multiple states. All systems operated as they should. My family's favorite part of our 11 day journey was the RV. I was able to watch and enjoy my family on some pretty long stretches road. They were comfortable and happy and that's all i could ask for. Thank you guys for a great trip!

When is the best time to take an RV trip from Laurel?

The sweet spot for a Laurel RV trip is mid-April through early June and again from late September through November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit and humidity eases. July and August can push past 90 F with intense humidity and frequent thunderstorms, so you will want strong air conditioning and reliable shore power. Winters are mild (highs near 60 F in December and January, lows rarely below freezing), making Laurel a great snowbird-friendly stop. Pro tip: October weekends pair perfectly with downtown festivals and crisp evenings around the campfire.

I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Laurel?

You have got this, first time renting an RV is exactly what RVezy is built for. Every Laurel host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, the leveling process, slide-outs, the propane system, water tanks, and the generator. Laurel itself is an ideal place to start: traffic is light, Interstate 59 has wide lanes, and Highway 84 offers gentle, flat terrain to build confidence before bigger trips. You can also message the host with questions before booking. Pro tip: pick a travel trailer or Class C for your first rental, they are easier to maneuver than a full-size Class A and fit most local campsite pads.

Can I take my RV rental from Laurel across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most Laurel rentals, and an RV road trip from Laurel pairs beautifully with neighboring states. Popular cross-border routes head to Alabama's Gulf Coast, Louisiana's bayou country, and Tennessee via the Natchez Trace. Travel into Canada may be possible with some hosts (you will need to confirm in advance and ensure protection coverage applies), but travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Pro tip: message your host before booking to share your route, they often have first-hand recommendations for fuel stops and overnight parks along the way.

How much should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Laurel?

Mississippi has some of the lowest fuel prices in the country, which makes budgeting an RV road trip from Laurel easier than almost anywhere else in the U.S. Expect roughly 7 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, and 12 to 18 MPG for a truck-and-travel-trailer setup. With Mississippi gas averaging well below the national price, a 300-mile loop to Gulf Shores and back typically runs $90 to $140 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Pilot or Love's stops along Interstate 59 near Hattiesburg, they're rig-friendly with long pull-through lanes.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Laurel?

For most RV camping near Laurel, two to four weeks ahead is plenty, but if you are aiming for Paul B. Johnson State Park during spring break, summer holidays, or USM football weekends, lock it in two to three months out. Mississippi State Parks accept reservations in advance through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) reservation system. Private parks near Hattiesburg typically book direct via phone or their websites. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have openings even in peak season, and rates are often a few dollars lower per night.

What are driving conditions like around Laurel?

Driving an RV around Laurel is refreshingly relaxed. Interstate 59 runs right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, and Highway 84 east-west is mostly flat Pine Belt terrain. You'll want to watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms from June through September (Mississippi averages about 50 inches of rain per year), occasional fog on early-morning low spots near the Leaf River, and the rare hurricane-season weather alert in late summer. The historic downtown around Central Avenue has tight one-way streets, so park larger rigs at your campground and explore by car or on foot. Pro tip: download a weather radar app before pickup and check the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) traffic page for any I-59 work zones.

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Laurel?

Campgrounds near Laurel deliver classic Southern hospitality plus solid infrastructure. Most full-hookup private parks offer 30/50-amp electric, fresh water, sewer at the site, paved pull-throughs, hot-shower bathhouses, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Paul B. Johnson State Park provides RV sites with electric and water, bathhouses, and a dedicated dump station for filling and emptying tanks. Many parks have pools, fishing ponds, and propane fill-ups on site. Pro tip: ask your host whether they include a fresh-water hose and sewer hose in the rental (most do), and pack a 25-foot drinking-water-safe hose just in case the campground spigot is set back from the pad.

What's included inside a typical Laurel RV rental?

Laurel-area RVs on RVezy come stocked for a comfortable trip. Expect a fully equipped kitchen (refrigerator, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, cookware, and dishes), a private bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on the rig, a roof-mounted air conditioner (essential in Mississippi summers), a propane furnace for cooler nights, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Most rigs also have a TV, and many include Wi-Fi hotspots or a generator for boondocking. Campervan rental Laurel options are smaller and great for couples, while motorhome rental Laurel pickups (Class A and C) shine for families. Pro tip: check each listing's amenity list, linens and kitchen kits are often included or available as add-ons.
fmcsa.dot.gov/safety/driver-safety/recreational-vehicle-rv-safety

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Laurel hosts offer a smart mix of add-ons to customize your trip: linen and towel kits, kitchen packages, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, kayaks, generators, portable grills, and even pre-stocked fishing gear for trips to Big Creek or Geiger Lake. Pickup is usually at the host's property in Laurel or Jones County, with delivery available from many owners (see the Delivery filter). Mileage policies vary by listing, some offer unlimited miles, others a daily cap with reasonable per-mile overage. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package on your first booking, it removes nearly all of the logistical friction so you can step in and start enjoying your trip.

How do payments and the security deposit work?

Payment is handled securely inside RVezy, no cash, no checks, no awkward handoffs. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card when you book, and the host receives funds after your trip starts. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card (the amount is shown clearly at checkout) and released after the host confirms the RV came back in the same condition it left, typically within a few days. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a quick video walkaround at both pickup and drop-off in Laurel, it is the easiest way to keep your full deposit and avoid any back-and-forth.
