The best time to visit is during spring (April-May) and fall (September-October), when mild temperatures and lower humidity create ideal conditions for outdoor recreation. Summer months (June-August) bring hot, humid weather with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, though the park remains fully operational. Shoulder seasons offer pleasant conditions for fishing, hiking, and water activities. Winter provides cooler weather but remains open year-round for camping and day-use activities.
Fish for Large Mouth Bass, Bluegill, Bream, Shell Cracker, Crappie, and Channel Catfish on the 225-acre freshwater lake. Fishing is best from April through September when fish are more active. Rod and reel fishing only; a Mississippi fishing license is required for ages 16 to 65.
Enjoy boating, waterskiing, tubing, and wakeboarding on Geiger Lake from the boat launch with paved trailer parking. Water sports hours run 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and a boat launch fee applies.
Play two 18-basket disc golf courses (Desert Fox and Arctic Fox) with hole lengths ranging from 220 to 420 feet. Course maps and scorecards are available at the visitor center, and day use entry covers disc golf access.
Hike the 0.7-mile trail through mixed pine and hardwood forest featuring loblolly and longleaf pines, oaks, hickories, and dogwoods. This easy walking trail has gentle terrain and offers peaceful nature exploration.
Swim in the lifeguard-supervised beach area on Geiger Lake or cool off at the 5,000 square foot splash pad featuring 37 water sprays and jets. The splash pad is designed for families and children.
Paddle several miles of forested shoreline on Geiger Lake by kayak or canoe, exploring natural beauty and wildlife habitat. Equipment rentals are available at the park.
Reserve one of six large lakeside picnic pavilions complete with grills and tables for family gatherings and group outings. Pavilions overlook Geiger Lake and accommodate large groups.
