Ryan's RV was perfect for our weekend. We needed overflow space for family gathering for Thanksgiving & Ryan's RV was great! It's very spacious. Lots of space to spread out. When renting, be mindful of having enough space to open both popouts. It gives the RV a very open feel, but you cannot use the RV without opening the popouts. The full bedroom in the back with THREE beds is so great for families with kids -- lots of space for their bags & things. Lastly, definitely be mindful of closing the closet door completely when packing up the RV, as this can cause damage when opening the popouts. All in all, an excellent stay! Ryan was very responsive & super easy to deal with.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Mount Vernon, WA

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Mount Vernon, WA?

Good news: RV rental in Mount Vernon is one of the more affordable ways to experience the Skagit Valley. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers from about $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275, and larger Class A coaches from $250 and up. Tulip Festival weeks in April book up fastest and tend to run 15-25% higher, so booking by January helps lock in a cheap RV rental in Mount Vernon. For the best value, look at midweek pickups in May, June, or September. Pro tip: pair a travel trailer with delivery to a local park and you'll skip the towing learning curve entirely.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Mount Vernon?

You're in luck: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mount Vernon, WA. Washington State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes and travel trailers listed on RVezy, even the larger Class A coaches. Guests must be 25 or older, and identity is confirmed quickly through the RVezy platform when you book. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-timers find the Skagit Valley's flat farm roads a confidence-boosting place to start.

Booking is low risk. RVezy applies a consistent cancellation policy across every Mount Vernon RV rental, so you are never guessing what each host allows. Can I bring my dog on a Mount Vernon RV trip?

Absolutely. Plenty of pet-friendly RV rental options in Mount Vernon are just one filter click away on RVezy, so you can travel with your dog without juggling kennels. Skagit Valley is genuinely dog-friendly: leashed pups are welcome on the Skagit Riverwalk, at Little Mountain Park's wooded trails, and along the dikes outside town. Most local campgrounds, including Burlington/Anacortes KOA and Riverbend RV Park, allow dogs at the site. Bring proof of vaccination, pack a tie-out and waste bags, and confirm pet rules with your host before booking. Bonus: the off-leash dog park at Hillcrest gives your pup a stretch before heading to the tulip fields.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Mount Vernon?

Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Mount Vernon, dropping the rig at your chosen campground, a friend's driveway, or a Skagit Valley farm-stay site, then setting it up and walking you through every system. This is ideal if it's your first time renting an RV or if you'd rather skip towing through downtown traffic during Tulip Festival weekends. Filter for Delivery on the RVezy search page, message the host with your destination (Bay View State Park, Riverbend RV Park, or Burlington/Anacortes KOA are popular drops), and they'll quote the delivery fee upfront, usually based on mileage.

How far can I drive from Mount Vernon on a typical RV rental?

You've got a lot of road to play with. Most Mount Vernon hosts offer a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100-150 miles per day), and some list rentals with unlimited mileage, perfect for longer loops. From Mount Vernon you can reach Deception Pass State Park in 30 minutes, Bellingham in 35 minutes, Seattle in about 75 minutes, Mount Baker in 90 minutes, and the North Cascades National Park entrance in roughly an hour. A weekend RV road trip from Mount Vernon to the San Juan ferry at Anacortes is just 25 miles. If you're planning a bigger loop, message hosts beforehand and ask about mileage packages.

Where are the best campgrounds near Mount Vernon, WA?

You'll find great RV camping in Mount Vernon and the surrounding Skagit Valley. Top picks include Bay View State Park (10 miles west, with hookups and Padilla Bay views), Burlington/Anacortes KOA Journey (just north off I-5, with a pool and pancake breakfasts), Riverbend RV Park (right on the Skagit River in Mount Vernon), Thousand Trails Mount Vernon in Bow (forested, quiet, great for families), and Larrabee State Park on Chuckanut Drive (15 miles north, oceanfront sites). Book Bay View and Larrabee through Washington State Parks reservations up to nine months ahead, especially for April tulip season and summer weekends.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Mount Vernon?

There's a great window for every kind of trip. April is the marquee month thanks to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, when RoozenGaarde and Tulip Town bloom from late March through the end of April (temperatures usually 50-62°F with passing showers). May through September is peak dry-and-warm season with highs from 65-78°F, perfect for North Cascades trips. October brings golden farmland and harvest events, while winter (35-48°F) is surprisingly magical for bald eagle viewing along the Skagit River near Rockport. For the smartest pricing on RV camping in Mount Vernon, target late May, June, or September, when crowds thin and the valley is at its greenest.

I have never driven an RV. Will I be okay renting one in Mount Vernon?

You are going to do great. First time renting an RV? Mount Vernon is one of the friendlier launch points in Washington thanks to flat farm roads, wide rural highways, and gentle I-5 access. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, covering hookups, slide-outs, propane, the generator, and the dump valves, so you are never figuring it out alone. If you would prefer to skip driving entirely, choose delivery and the host will handle setup at your campground. You can also message the host any question before booking. Pro tip: start with a Class B campervan or a small travel trailer for your first Mount Vernon RV trip, and add highway miles slowly.

What if my RV breaks down during my trip?

Take a breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking in Mount Vernon includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so help is one phone call away whether you're parked at Deception Pass, climbing toward Washington Pass on Highway 20, or pulled over on I-5. The service handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified shop. Your host is also a great first call for anything quirky about their specific rig. Save both numbers in your phone at pickup. The North Cascades Highway is remote past Marblemount, so top off fuel and let someone know your plans before heading east of Newhalem.

Can I take my Mount Vernon RV rental into Canada or other states?

Cross-border trips are often on the table. Mount Vernon sits just 60 miles from the Peace Arch border crossing at Blaine, so RV road trips from Mount Vernon to Vancouver, Whistler, or the Okanagan are very doable, just confirm with your host before booking, since each rig's insurance must explicitly cover Canada. Travel into Oregon, Idaho, or down the Pacific Coast is generally allowed and a popular itinerary. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance restrictions. Bring your passport, RV registration, and proof of the protection package, and you'll breeze through the Peace Arch lanes.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go/your-trip

How much should I budget for fuel on a Mount Vernon RV trip?

Fuel costs are manageable with a little planning. Most Class C motorhomes get 8-12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans average 16-20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Washington gas prices typically run higher than the national average, so as of 2026 expect to budget around $4.20-$4.80 per gallon near Mount Vernon. A weekend loop to Deception Pass and back (about 60 miles round trip) might cost $25-$35 in fuel for a Class C. Top up at the Costco or Fred Meyer in Burlington for the best per-gallon rates before heading east into the North Cascades, where stations get sparse past Marblemount.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Mount Vernon?

Earlier is better, especially for spring. Washington State Parks like Bay View, Deception Pass, and Larrabee open reservations nine months ahead through the Washington State Parks reservation system, and Tulip Festival weekends in April sell out within days of release. For summer weekends from June through August, aim to book at least 3 to 4 months out. Private parks like Riverbend RV Park and Burlington/Anacortes KOA usually have more flexibility, often 4 to 6 weeks ahead. Midweek, you can often grab a spot a few days before arrival. Pro tip: set a reservation alert for nine months before your target tulip weekend, and refresh at 7 a.m. Pacific Time on release day.

What are driving conditions like around Mount Vernon?

Driving here is refreshingly easy. Mount Vernon sits at the intersection of I-5 and Highway 20, with wide lanes, gentle grades, and predictable farm-country traffic outside of Tulip Festival weekends in April (when Beaver Marsh Road and Bradshaw Road can clog up midday, so go early or late). Watch for low-clearance underpasses if you're in a tall Class A, and use Memorial Highway (SR-536) for the easiest in-and-out from I-5 Exit 226. East of Sedro-Woolley on Highway 20, expect winding mountain curves, switchbacks, and seasonal closures past Ross Lake from roughly mid-November through mid-April. Check WSDOT travel alerts before your trip for real-time pass and weather info.
wsdot.com/travel/real-time/mountainpasses

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Mount Vernon?

You'll be well taken care of. Most RV campgrounds around Mount Vernon offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Bay View State Park has utility sites plus a dump station and potable water fill. Burlington/Anacortes KOA adds a pool, dog park, and propane refills on site. Thousand Trails Mount Vernon in Bow has a clubhouse, pool, and miles of forested trails. For dump and water without an overnight stay, the Skagit County Transfer Station and several private parks offer pay-as-you-go services. Cell coverage is solid throughout the valley but drops off east of Marblemount, so download maps before heading into the North Cascades.
skagitcounty.net/Departments/SolidWaste

What's included inside a typical RV rental in Mount Vernon?

More than you'd expect. Most Mount Vernon motorhome and campervan rentals come fully equipped: a queen or king bed plus convertible dinettes/bunks, a kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, sink, and cookware, a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with furnace and air conditioning, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many rigs include a TV, Bluetooth speakers, outdoor chairs, a propane BBQ, and either a generator or solar setup for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi hotspots are a common host add-on, handy if you're working from the Skagit Riverwalk. Each RVezy listing shows the full amenity list and sleeps count, so filter for what your group needs (kids, dogs, work-from-road) before booking.
consumer.ftc.gov/articles/buying-rv

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts make customizing easy. Popular Mount Vernon RV rental add-ons include bedding and linen packages ($30-$75), kitchen kits, generators, bike racks, kayak racks, camping chairs, propane fire pits, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Delivery and setup is the most-loved option, especially for tulip trips when parking near RoozenGaarde or Tulip Town fills fast. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Mount Vernon, Burlington, Sedro-Woolley, or Anacortes, and most hosts offer a 30-60 minute walkthrough. Daily mileage caps typically run 100-150 miles with overage fees of $0.30-$0.45 per mile, or you can filter for RV rental with unlimited mileage if you're planning a longer loop into the Cascades or down to Seattle.

How does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?

It is straightforward and secure. When you book a campervan rental in Mount Vernon or any RV on RVezy, payment is made through the platform using a credit or debit card, no cash changes hands with the host. A security deposit set by the host is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after a successful return, typically within a few business days. To avoid any deposit issues, complete the walkthrough carefully at pickup, take date-stamped photos of the exterior and interior, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump tanks if your host requires it. Keep all communication in the RVezy app for a clean record.

Can I rent an RV in Mount Vernon during winter?

Yes, and winter here has its own quiet magic. RV camping in Mount Vernon is available year-round, with average winter lows around 33-38°F and highs in the mid-40s, mild enough that most motorhomes handle it well. From late December through February, the Skagit River near Rockport hosts one of the largest wintering bald eagle populations in the lower 48, drawing photographers and families to the Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center. Look for RVs with heated holding tanks and an enclosed underbelly, and ask your host about cold-weather prep, shore-power hookups, and skirting. Bay View State Park stays open all winter, and many hosts offer cheaper midweek rates from November through March.
