I took my 16 year old son and 2 adult friends to there first NFL game and to watch our Oilers in Seattle in late November. Dave's RV was the perfect accommodation for the 3 days! What was awesome was the communication with Dave prior to the rental. He answered all questions and concerns in a timely fashion. In this day and age where customer service seems to be almost no existent Dave went above and beyond. Dave went through the pre trip check with me and my son and that interaction showed he cared about us having a positive experience. With any type of rental things could go wrong, nothing did for us, but I felt reassured Dave would be there if anything did, peace of mind! RV was just what we needed for this trip. Thanks again Dave!!

Chris was really great to work with! He's very personable, responsive, helpful, and flexible. He was willing to move around our pick-up to better suit our needs, within his abilities. This was greatly appreciated. He offered to give us a ride to the light rail after returning the RV. And he had great suggestions for us during our trip that helped save us time and money. We had a great time on our first RV adventure in his RV, "Miles of Smiles". Vehicle AC is being fixed, it didn't bother us. Camper AC worked great on the generator or electric hookup. We couldn't get the shower water heater to work, but we preferred the campground showers anyways. Everything else worked great on the RV. Lots of fridge/freezer space. Stove and microwave worked well as well as the propane grill if you encounter a burn ban. LOVED the Space you got with the slide out, the awning was really fun, the bunk above the cab was loved by our kids, the TV/DVD was needed at the end of a long day!, and all the storage was excellent. This was very comfortable and enjoyable ride for our 4 day adventure in Olympic and the North Cascades! Thanks so much Chris. We appreciate you!

I had a great experience renting this van camper! The host was extremely friendly, accommodating, and very responsive throughout the entire rental period, making the process smooth and stress-free. The van itself is newer, clean, and impressively well-equipped — it even came with Starlink internet and a sound system, plus there were no restrictions on generator use, which was a huge bonus. I highly recommend this host to anyone considering a camper van rental and would definitely rent again if the opportunity comes up!

What license do I need to rent an RV in Orting, WA?

Great news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Orting. Washington State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID quickly through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your home country license, easy to grab from your local auto association for under $25. That's it, no RV school, no special test. Most guests are surprised how straightforward the process is, and your host walks you through the rig at pickup so you'll feel confident before you even turn the key.

What if I need to cancel my Orting RV rental?

RVezy uses a clear, platform-wide cancellation policy, so the rules are consistent no matter which rig you book in Orting. Cancellation outcomes depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date, and refund amounts step down as your trip gets closer. The policy is set by RVezy rather than individual hosts, which keeps the process predictable across listings. If a host cancels, you are eligible for a full refund or credit. Pro tip: book early for July and August Mount Rainier trips, and review the cancellation terms during checkout before confirming.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Orting?

Yes, bringing your dog is easy. Many Orting hosts welcome pets, and finding a pet-friendly RV rental in Orting is as simple as toggling the Pet Friendly filter on RVezy. Orting itself is dog-friendly: the Foothills Trail runs right through town and is a favorite for leashed walks along the Puyallup River. Heading to Mount Rainier National Park? Pets are restricted to roads, parking areas, and campgrounds, so plan hikes in nearby Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest or Federation Forest State Park where leashed dogs are welcome on trails. Pet-friendly hosts often include a small cleaning fee, listed upfront, and they are usually quick to answer questions about multiple dogs or senior pets before you book.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite near Orting?

Yes, RV delivery is a popular option for an Orting RV trip, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will deliver a motorhome or travel trailer to your campsite, level the rig, hook up power and water, set up the awning, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means you can drive your own car to spots like Cougar Rock or Ohanapecosh Campground in Mount Rainier National Park and have your RV ready when you arrive. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location and are shown on the listing. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer it.

How far can I drive on an Orting RV rental, and what about mileage limits?

You've got plenty of range for a great trip. Most Orting hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with additional miles available at $0.30 to $0.50 each, and some hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for longer Pacific Northwest loops. From Orting you're roughly 30 miles to the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier, 45 miles to Tacoma, 75 miles to Seattle, 90 miles to Mount St. Helens, and about 140 miles to Olympic National Park's Hoh Rainforest. Planning a bigger RV road trip from Orting? Hosts offering unlimited mileage are flagged on their listings. Pro tip: estimate your route on Google Maps, add 15 percent for scenic detours (you'll want them), and message the host if you're close to the included limit.

Where are the best campgrounds near Orting, WA?

Orting sits in a sweet spot for RV camping. Local favorites include Alder Lake Park (about 25 miles south) with waterfront sites and hookups, Cougar Rock Campground inside Mount Rainier National Park (about 40 miles east) with old-growth forest and no hookups, and Ohanapecosh Campground on the park's southeast side with riverside sites under tall trees. White River Campground is another great in-park option for adventurous campers. Closer to town, Majestic Mobile Manor RV Park in Puyallup (about 10 miles north) is a quiet full-hookup option for trip start or end nights. For Mount Rainier sites, book through Recreation.gov as early as possible since summer weekends fill quickly. Insider tip: weekday arrivals improve your odds of landing a prime spot.

When is the best time of year for an Orting RV trip?

Late June through early October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Orting. Summer days typically run 70 to 80F with cool 50F nights, and Mount Rainier's iconic Sunrise and Paradise areas are fully open. July and August are peak; for fewer crowds and lower rates, target mid-September when fall colors paint the foothills. Spring (April to May) is also lovely, especially during the Orting Daffodil Festival in April. Winters are mild but very wet, with roughly 45 to 50 inches of annual rainfall locally, and many high-elevation campgrounds close from November through May. Pro tip: even in summer, pack layers because mountain weather changes fast above 4,000 feet.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Orting?

You will do great. First time renting an RV? Orting is a friendly place to start, with quiet rural roads, flat valley driving, and easy access to Highway 162 without big-city traffic. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, slide-outs, propane, water, generator, and dump procedures, so you leave feeling confident. If you would rather skip driving entirely, choose a host who offers delivery and setup. Start with a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer (22 to 26 feet) for easier handling. Pro tip: do a slow lap around a quiet lot near the Foothills Trail to get a feel for braking, turning, and mirrors before heading toward Mount Rainier.

What happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my trip?

You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Orting booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are at a Puyallup gas station or boondocking near Mowich Lake. Common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and running out of fuel are covered. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick questions, like how to reset the inverter or relight the water heater pilot. Cell service is reliable around Orting and Enumclaw but can drop inside Mount Rainier National Park, so download offline maps before heading into the backcountry. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway.

Can I take my Orting RV rental to Canada or Oregon?

Interstate travel is welcome on most rentals. An RV road trip from Orting south into Oregon (think Portland, the Columbia River Gorge, or the Oregon Coast) is a fantastic 3 to 5 day loop, and most hosts allow it. Crossing into British Columbia is possible with many hosts, but message them before booking to confirm and ensure the RVezy protection plan extends across the border. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because protection coverage does not extend there. Popular cross-state routes from Orting include Mount St. Helens to Astoria (about 200 miles) and the full Olympic Peninsula loop (about 350 miles). Always confirm route plans with your host upfront.

What kind of fuel mileage and gas costs should I budget for?

Budgeting is easier than you might think. Most Class C motorhomes around Orting get 8 to 12 mpg, Class B campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (often 10 to 14 mpg combined). Washington gas prices tend to run above the national average, so check current rates and plan accordingly for regular and diesel. A round trip from Orting to Paradise at Mount Rainier (about 80 miles) usually runs $30 to $45 in fuel for a Class C. Fill up in Orting or Puyallup before heading east on Highway 410 since stations get sparse past Greenwater. Pro tip: the Costco in South Hill Puyallup typically has the lowest fuel prices in the area.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Orting?

For the best sites, book early. Mount Rainier National Park campgrounds (Cougar Rock, Ohanapecosh, White River) open reservations up to 6 months ahead on Recreation.gov, and summer weekends often sell out quickly when windows release. Washington State Parks like Dash Point and Kanaskat-Palmer use the Washington State Parks reservation system and can be booked up to 9 months out. Private parks like Majestic Mobile Manor RV in Puyallup or Alder Lake Park are more flexible and often have midweek openings 2 to 4 weeks out. Insider trick: set a calendar alarm for the booking window opening and target Tuesday or Wednesday nights, which are easier to grab than Friday or Saturday.

What are driving conditions like around Orting and Mount Rainier?

Driving around Orting is genuinely pleasant: the Puyallup Valley is flat and rural with light traffic. Highway 162 and Highway 410 east toward Mount Rainier are well-maintained two-lane roads with gentle climbs. Inside the national park, expect narrow, winding mountain roads with switchbacks, especially climbing to Paradise (about 5,400 ft) or Sunrise (about 6,400 ft). Take it slow, use lower gears on descents, and use pullouts to let faster traffic pass. Cayuse Pass and Chinook Pass close seasonally from around November through late spring due to snow. Check WSDOT real-time pass reports before mountain trips. Pro tip: leave Orting by 7 a.m. on July and August weekends to beat entry-line backups at the Nisqually gate.
wsdot.com/travel/real-time/mountainpasses

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Orting?

You have great options for every camping style. Private parks like Majestic Mobile Manor RV in Puyallup and Alder Lake Park offer full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, and laundry, perfect for plug-and-play comfort. Mount Rainier National Park campgrounds (Cougar Rock, Ohanapecosh, White River) are more rustic with no hookups but offer potable water, flush toilets, and dump stations on site. Always fill fresh water before heading into the park since high-elevation campgrounds may shut off water in shoulder season. Pro tip: bring at least a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-to-50 amp adapter, and your host can confirm what is already in the rig.
nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm

You'll be impressed by how well-equipped these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental in Orting comes with comfortable beds (queen master plus convertible dinettes and bunks), a full kitchen (fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, cookware, dishes), a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (furnace and roof AC), and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, awning, outdoor camp chairs, and a generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi is usually BYO via your phone's hotspot, but some hosts offer mobile routers as an add-on. Linens and kitchen kits may be included or available as small upfront add-ons, listed clearly on each listing. Always review the amenities tab on the listing and message your host if there's a specific item you need, they're usually super accommodating.

What add-ons and pickup logistics should I expect?

Customizing your trip is easy. Popular add-ons for an Orting RV trip include camp chair and table sets, portable BBQ or propane grills, generator use, bike racks, kayak hauling, and linen and kitchen kits, all listed clearly on each listing. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near Orting, Puyallup, or Bonney Lake, and most walkthroughs take 30 to 45 minutes, so give yourself time to ask questions. Mileage policies often include 100 to 150 free miles per night with a per-mile fee for extras, and some hosts offer truly unlimited mileage, perfect for Olympic Peninsula loops. Returns are usually before noon with fuel and propane refilled. Pro tip: take walkaround photos at pickup and dropoff: it protects everyone.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure, handled directly through the RVezy platform with no cash exchange at pickup. You pay the rental total (nightly rate, fees, and your chosen protection plan) when you book. A refundable security deposit is held separately and is released after the trip assuming no damage or policy issues. To avoid deposit hassles: do walkaround photos with your host at pickup and dropoff, return the rig at the agreed fuel and propane levels, empty the holding tanks (or pay the dump fee, listed upfront), and stay within your mileage allowance or pay any overages openly. Most Orting guests get their deposit back within a few days of returning the keys.

How do I handle Orting's rainy weather in an RV?

Rain is part of Pacific Northwest charm, and your RV is the perfect basecamp for it. Orting sees most of its rainfall between October and April, but even summer trips can bring surprise showers off the Cascades. The good news: modern motorhomes and travel trailers have heated interiors, dry storage, and awnings that make rainy days cozy rather than miserable. Pack quick-dry layers, waterproof boots, and a few board games for downtime. Inside Mount Rainier National Park, the Grove of the Patriarchs area and the Carbon River trails are especially magical in light rain. Pro tip: many Orting hosts include a doormat and outdoor rug to help keep mud out of the rig.
