Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the calmest waters for the crossing from Orcas Island or the mainland. July and August bring peak boat traffic, so buoys and dock space fill quickly on weekends. Shoulder months of May, early June, and September are excellent for RVers staging on the mainland, with fewer crowds and still-mild temperatures. Winter visits are possible but wind, rain, and rough seas can make the crossing unsafe.
Wet and windy; crossings often unsafe for small boats.
Cool and damp; limited winter visitation.
Early spring, changeable weather on the water.
Drier days begin; good shoulder-season paddling.

Sucia Island offers roughly ten miles of hiking trails that loop through forests, along sandstone bluffs, and out to scenic headlands. Trails connect the main bays including Fossil Bay, Shallow Bay, and Echo Bay. nps.gov/places/sucia-island-marine-state-park.htm
Fossil Bay is a sheltered cove and the site of Washington State's only confirmed dinosaur bone discovery. Visitors can walk the beach, inspect eroded sandstone formations, and learn about the island's deep geologic history. nps.gov/places/sucia-island-marine-state-park.htm
The clear, sheltered waters around Sucia are known for excellent snorkeling. Sea stars, kelp forests, and rocky reefs make the bays a favorite stop for divers and snorkelers. nps.gov/places/sucia-island-marine-state-park.htm
Sucia's beaches and tidal flats are popular for clamming and crabbing in season. Visitors need a current Washington shellfish or crab license and should check daily closures before harvesting. nps.gov/places/sucia-island-marine-state-park.htm
Paddlers launch from the north shore of Orcas Island for a crossing of roughly two and a half miles to Sucia. The open water requires strong skills, tide awareness, and a weather check before departure.
The island has 39 primitive campsites spread across several bays, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sites include picnic tables and access to composting toilets and drinking water. nps.gov/places/sucia-island-marine-state-park.htm
Sucia is a prime spot for observing bald eagles, harbor seals, river otters, and seabirds. The surrounding Salish Sea waters are also transited seasonally by orca and porpoise pods.

Mr Yi has been very helpful in sharing the information about the vehicle. For me it was the first experience. Mr Yi's inputs were very helpful. The vehicle was in a very good condition and my family enjoyed a lot. Mr Yi was very flexible and accommodative regarding the time. I will say it exceeded my expectations in all aspect. Thanks

Sucia Island Marine State Park, WA, United States
Sucia Island has no road or ferry access, so RV travelers drive to a mainland launch point and cross by private boat or charter. Bellingham is roughly 25 miles southeast and offers the closest marinas and boat launches, while Anacortes, about 80 miles north of Seattle, is the gateway for Washington State Ferries to Orcas Island, where additional charters depart. Interstate 5 is the main RV route with no tunnels or extreme grades, but Highway 20 into Anacortes has weight-restricted bridges that large rigs should verify in advance. Bellingham International Airport and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport are the nearest airports for fly-and-rent travelers.
