Great experience with Mike and his trailer! He was great to work with, trailer was clean and perfect for what we needed. Would absolutely book with him again!

Ashley W. - May 2026

We added on the generator, and delivery. The trailer had everything that our family needed. It was a good size, and Mike went above and beyond for us. Our vacation at the lake was fun and carefree! Would book again next time for sure.

It was a pleasure dealing with Tori. The RV was very clean and well stocked. Need to add a few more boards for leveling the RV. I would rent this RV again.

Wayne R. - May 2026

The RVezy app and website is not user friendly and left out very important information ie it did not say definitively that any rentals were for a minimum 3 days. When I rented an RV for 2 days i was not made aware of this but was billed for 3 day rental. the amount surprised me as it was much more than I expected from the description on the site. It was only when I questioned this that I found out about the 3 day minimal rental Having said that the RV we rented was clean and nice and the owners were great. The only problem was that we weren't made aware that the water pump would come on regularly through the night. Which it did and woke us up munltiple times. This was not the fault of the owners because they had very little time to orient us. Perhaps it would be a good thing to have some details about the RV available in the unit at all times. We couldn't contact them because we were in a no cell coverage area. Overall, we had a good time and the RV was comfortable. Thanks to Tori and her husband. Angela H

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in the Lower North Thompson, BC?

Good news, your regular Class 5 (or Class 7N) driver's license from anywhere in Canada or the US is all you need to rent an RV in the Lower North Thompson for almost every motorhome and travel trailer on RVezy. British Columbia only requires upgraded credentials if your towed trailer's licensed gross vehicle weight exceeds 4,600 kg or if the RV has air brakes (more common on large diesel Class A units). Visitors from overseas should bring an International Driving Permit alongside their home license. Approved RVezy renters are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform before pickup, so the booking process stays simple and quick.

What is the cancellation policy if my plans change?

You'll see your specific terms clearly during checkout and inside your RVezy account, and customer support is available before, during, and after your trip if anything changes. Book your Lower North Thompson RV trip with confidence knowing flexibility is built in.

When is the best time to rent an RV in the Lower North Thompson?

The sweet spot for an RV trip in this part of BC is mid-May through late September, when daytime highs sit between 20 and 30 °C and most provincial park campgrounds (including North Thompson River Provincial Park) are fully open from May 1 to September 29. July is the warmest and sunniest month with around 12 hours of daily sunshine, ideal for rafting the North Thompson River. September brings cooler nights, fewer crowds at Wells Gray, and golden cottonwoods along the river. Winters get cold (averages drop to around -7 °C in January) with snow, so winter rentals exist but are best for Sun Peaks ski trips with cold-weather-ready RVs. Pro tip: aim for the first two weeks of September for warm days, crisp nights, and easy campground availability.

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?

You'll be more than okay, first time renting an RV is exactly what RVezy is built for. Every host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking through propane, water, slides, dump valves, the awning, generator, and the dash, so you leave knowing every button. You can message your host through the platform with questions before booking, and 24/7 roadside assistance is one tap away if you forget something on the road. The Lower North Thompson is perfect for beginners too: Highway 5 is wide, well-paved, and the campgrounds around Barriere and Clearwater are spacious. Can I take the RV across the US border or to Alberta?

Cross-province travel into Alberta is allowed and one of the most popular RV road trips from the Lower North Thompson, Barriere to Jasper via Highway 5 and Highway 16 is roughly 410 km of stunning mountain driving. Trips into the United States may also be permitted, but you must confirm with your host before booking since insurance coverage needs to be verified. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental due to insurance restrictions. Pro tip: if you're heading to Jasper or Banff, message the host early so they can confirm cross-border or interprovincial details, and bring your passport and the vehicle paperwork they'll provide at pickup.

Private RV parks like Wells Gray Golf & RV Resort and Dutch Lake Resort generally take reservations year-round and have more last-minute openings. What are driving conditions like on Highway 5 and the local roads?

Highway 5 (the Yellowhead) through the Lower North Thompson is a well-maintained, mostly two-lane paved highway with regular passing lanes, gentle grades, and stunning river valley views, making it very RV-friendly. Expect occasional logging trucks, the odd deer or moose at dawn and dusk, and wildfire smoke advisories in late summer. Winter (November to March) brings snow and requires winter tires by law on most BC highways from October 1 to April 30. Side roads into Wells Gray Park are paved but narrow, and the road to Murtle Lake includes a gravel section. Pro tip: check DriveBC for road conditions before any departure, especially during spring runoff in May and June.

Lower North Thompson campgrounds offer a great range of services. Provincial parks like North Thompson River Provincial Park have potable water taps, pit or flush toilets, a sani-dump station, picnic tables and fire rings at every site, but no electrical hookups, so plan on running off your house batteries or a generator (where allowed). Private parks like Wells Gray Golf & RV Resort and Dutch Lake Resort offer full hookups (30-amp power, water, sewer), showers, laundry and Wi-Fi. Free potable water and dump stations are available at the Barriere visitor area and at the Birch Island rest stop. Pro tip: top up fresh water in Clearwater before heading deeper into Wells Gray, services thin out fast past the park gate.
