Excellent experience and Robb is a wonderful host. The RV was exactly as described and came with lots of extras and pretty much everything needed for a comfortable camping experience! The RV handled perfectly up and around the mountains going to and from the Oregon high desert. We had 4 adults and a husky and were all super comfortable. Robb went over the rig completely before leaving, it was clean and drop of was easy! We would definitely rent from Robb again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Redmond, OR

How much does an RV rental in Redmond, OR typically cost?

RV rental in Redmond, OR is surprisingly affordable, with most travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $275 per night. Because hosts are local owners (not a corporate fleet), you'll often find better value than traditional rental agencies, especially mid-week. Summer (June through August) and big Bend-area events drive peak pricing, so booking a Redmond RV trip in May or September can save you 20 to 30 percent. Pro tip: filter for Instant Book and look for hosts offering weekly discounts, and watch for cheap RV rental Redmond options like older travel trailers, which often deliver the best value for first-time renters.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Redmond, OR?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Redmond, OR. Oregon does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers available on RVezy. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home country license and you're set. Most first-time renters in Central Oregon are surprised by how simple the paperwork really is.

What protection comes with my Redmond RV rental?

Every RV rental in Redmond booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from the moment you pull out of the host's driveway. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV, giving you real peace of mind on Central Oregon's winding mountain roads or while parked near Smith Rock State Park. You choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host), so you can pick the option that fits your comfort and budget. Pro tip: consider a higher tier if you are towing a trailer for the first time, it is a small price for big confidence.

What if I need to cancel my Redmond RV trip?

Booking is low risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every Redmond RV rental, and there is a grace period after booking where you can receive a full refund. Beyond that, your refund depends on how far out from your trip you cancel, and RVezy also offers protections for extraordinary situations, which matters in Central Oregon where wildfire smoke or winter snow over the Cascades can occasionally affect travel. If plans shift, contact RVezy support and they will walk you through your options. The takeaway: you do not have to feel locked in to lock in a great RV.

Can I bring my dog on a Redmond RV rental?

Absolutely, Central Oregon is one of the most dog-friendly regions in the Pacific Northwest, and pet-friendly RV rental Redmond options are easy to find. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see motorhomes and trailers from hosts who welcome four-legged guests (some charge a small pet fee, shown upfront). Once you arrive, your pup will love the off-leash areas at Dry Canyon right in Redmond, plus the dog-friendly trails around Smith Rock State Park (leashed). Redmond/Central Oregon KOA welcomes pets, and most local RV parks do too. Pro tip: message the host before booking if you have a large breed, most are happy to confirm.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Redmond?

Yes, RV delivery Redmond is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the RV to your campsite at Tumalo State Park, Crooked River Ranch, the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center, or even a private driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. You skip the stress of driving a big rig and start your trip relaxed. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location and are shown clearly before you book. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy to see only hosts offering this service.

Where are the best campgrounds near Redmond, OR?

You are spoiled for choice. Best campgrounds near Redmond include Tumalo State Park (about 15 minutes south, electric and water sites along the Deschutes River), Redmond/Central Oregon KOA Journey (pool, Cascade views, pull-throughs), Crown Villa RV Resort in Bend (full hookups, upscale amenities), Expo Center RV Park at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center (year-round full-service sites), and Crook County RV Park in Prineville (about 30 minutes east, full hookups near a reservoir). For something wilder, dispersed sites on nearby Deschutes National Forest land near Smith Rock are stunning. Pro tip: state parks like Tumalo book out fast in summer, so reserve early through Oregon State Parks reservations.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Redmond?

Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping Redmond, with July and August delivering classic high desert summer: highs in the mid-80s, cool nights, and very little rain. June and September are local favorites, you get warm sunny days, cool sleeping weather, smaller crowds at Smith Rock, and lower nightly rates. Spring (April to May) is gorgeous for wildflowers, while October brings golden cottonwoods along the Deschutes. Pro tip: Redmond sits at about 3,000 feet in the high desert, so summer nights cool off fast, pack a hoodie even in July.
weather.gov/pdt/

Can I rent an RV in Redmond in winter?

Yes, and winter is an underrated season for a Redmond RV trip. Expo Center RV Park and Redmond/Central Oregon KOA both stay open year-round with freeze-protected hookups. Mt. Bachelor (about 45 minutes from Bend) is one of the largest ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest, so winter RVers get a great basecamp at a fraction of lodge prices. Look for hosts whose listings mention four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a propane furnace. Pro tip: ask the host about shore-power use and skirting tips before pickup, they have usually winterized for the high desert and know exactly what works at this elevation.

I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?

You will be just fine, first time renting an RV is exactly who Central Oregon hosts are used to. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, covering driving tips, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedures. Most also share a written cheat sheet and stay reachable by text during your trip. Redmond is one of the easier places to learn: roads like Highway 97 and Highway 126 are wide, well-maintained, and not heavily trafficked outside Bend rush hour. Start with a smaller Class C or campervan if you are nervous. Pro tip: do a parking-lot practice loop at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center before heading out.

What happens if something breaks down during my trip?

You are never on your own. Every RV rental in Redmond booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 97, a dead battery near Crater Lake, or a propane issue at Smith Rock is just a phone call away. You will also have your host's direct number, and Central Oregon hosts are famously responsive (many can talk you through quick fixes by text in minutes). RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip if you need to escalate anything. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup, it speeds up any roadside call.

What are the best RV road trip routes from Redmond, OR?

An RV road trip from Redmond opens up the entire Pacific Northwest. Classic Central Oregon loop: Redmond to Bend to Sisters to Sunriver and back (under 100 miles, perfect for a long weekend). Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway: Redmond south to Crater Lake National Park (about 130 miles, roughly 3 hours). Painted Hills and John Day Fossil Beds: about 110 miles east, otherworldly landscapes. Columbia River Gorge: roughly 160 miles north. Coastal escape: Redmond to Newport on the Oregon Coast, about 165 miles west via Highway 20. Pro tip: travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals, but Washington and Idaho are open with host approval, so a Pacific Northwest loop is totally doable.
traveloregon.com/places-to-go/regions/central-oregon/

How much should I budget for fuel on a Redmond RV trip?

Budgeting is easy once you know the numbers. Campervans and small Class B rentals get around 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, and larger Class A or fifth wheels hit 6 to 10 mpg. Oregon gas prices typically run about 30 to 50 cents above the national average, hovering near $4 per gallon in Redmond in 2025. So a 300-mile Redmond-to-Crater-Lake-and-back loop in a Class C costs roughly $100 to $150 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Redmond or Madras before heading into the Cascades or out to the Painted Hills, gas stations get sparse fast, and Oregon has full-service pumps in many areas so just sit tight.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Redmond?

Book early, Central Oregon is one of the most popular RV destinations in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon State Parks (including Tumalo and The Cove Palisades) open reservations six months ahead, and prime summer weekends often fill within minutes of release. National Forest campgrounds in the Deschutes and Ochoco forests book through Recreation.gov on a similar six-month window. Private parks like Redmond/Central Oregon KOA and Expo Center RV Park have more flexibility and can sometimes accommodate bookings 1 to 2 weeks out. Pro tip: for July and August, set a calendar reminder for the exact six-month mark, you will get the prime riverside sites at Tumalo.

What are local driving conditions like around Redmond?

Driving an RV around Redmond is genuinely relaxing compared to most cities. Highway 97 (the main north-south artery) and Highway 126 are wide, well-paved, and easy to navigate. Watch for two real conditions: summer afternoon crosswinds on the high desert plateau (slow down on open stretches), and winter ice or snow over the Cascade passes like Santiam (Highway 20) and Willamette (Highway 58), where traction tires or chains may be required from November through March. Smith Rock area roads are narrow but manageable. Pro tip: check TripCheck.com (Oregon DOT's live road camera site) the morning of any drive, it shows real-time pass conditions across the state.
tripcheck.com/

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds around Redmond?

Central Oregon campgrounds range from full-service resorts to wilderness basics, so you can pick your comfort level. Redmond/Central Oregon KOA and Expo Center RV Park offer full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, and laundry. Tumalo State Park has electric and water sites plus a dump station. For dumping and freshwater fills near town, Expo Center RV Park and many truck stops along Highway 97 will accommodate you. National Forest sites in the Deschutes are typically dry camping (vault toilets, no hookups). Pro tip: top off freshwater in Redmond before heading to dispersed sites, the high desert dries you out fast.
stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=parkPage&parkId=36

What is actually inside a typical Redmond RV rental?

More than you would expect. Most motorhome rental Redmond options include a real bed (often a queen), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and sink, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, a dinette that converts to extra sleeping, air conditioning, a propane furnace, and an awning. Many also have a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and a generator for off-grid power. Campervan rental Redmond options are more compact but still pack a kitchenette, bed, and often a portable toilet. Seatbelts are provided for designated passenger spots (check the listing for the exact sleeps and seatbelt count). Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and Generator on RVezy to match your family size and boondocking plans.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Redmond%2C%20Oregon

What add-ons can I get with my Redmond RV rental?

Hosts in Redmond offer genuinely useful add-ons that make a family RV trip Redmond way smoother. Common options include kitchen kits (pots, plates, utensils), linen and bedding packages, camp chairs and outdoor tables, generators, propane fire pits (great for fire-ban season in Central Oregon), bike racks, kayak or SUP racks for nearby lakes, and pet kits. Pickup and dropoff are typically at the host's location in Redmond, Bend, or Terrebonne, with delivery available for a mileage-based fee. Mileage policies and fees are listed clearly on each listing. Pro tip: bundle the kitchen and linens kits if it is your first trip, it saves a grocery run and a packing headache.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Redmond%2C%20Oregon

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and your rental total (including protection, taxes, and any add-ons) is locked in upfront, no surprise charges at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held by RVezy (not the host), with the amount shown on the listing and varying by RV class and protection level you choose. As long as the RV is returned in the same condition, on time, and within mileage and generator-hour limits, the deposit is released back to you after the trip. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a short video at pickup and dropoff, it is the easiest way to keep your deposit drama-free.
