We had a terrific 9-day trip in Dennis' RV, from Salt Lake through Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Bozeman and back. The RV was clean, very well-equipped with all the bedding, cooking and camp furnishings you need. The 1st night, I struggled getting the a/c to run (my fault) and Dennis showed up at 10 pm at my campground to assist! And I'd driven 80 miles from where I'd picked it up from him. What a star. RV was easy to drive, all systems ran well. Overall a great experience. Would certainly use his RV again, if we're out that way. Highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Moose Wilson Road, WY

How much does an RV rental near Moose Wilson Road cost, and how can I save?

RV rental in Moose Wilson Road typically runs about $150 to $250 per night for travel trailers and campervans, while larger Class A and Class C motorhomes range from $250 to $450 per night during peak summer. Because this corridor sits inside Grand Teton National Park between Moose and Wilson, demand peaks from late June through August around Jackson Hole events and Yellowstone overflow traffic. For a cheaper RV rental in Moose Wilson Road, target the shoulder months of mid-May to mid-June or September, when nightly rates can drop 20 to 30% and wildlife viewing is often better. Pro tip: filter for hosts offering unlimited mileage if you plan to loop up to Yellowstone, and watch for weekly discounts that many Jackson-area hosts build into longer bookings.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Moose Wilson Road, Wyoming?

Good news, a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Moose Wilson Road, Wyoming. There's no special RV endorsement or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required for any of the Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, or fifth wheels you'll find on RVezy in this area. Every approved driver must be at least 25 years old, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during booking, so there's no paperwork to chase down at pickup. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association and you're set for your Jackson Hole adventure.

Is my RV rental protected if something happens on the trip?

Yes, every RVezy booking near Moose Wilson Road includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on watching for moose at Sawmill Ponds rather than worrying about what-ifs. The protection plan helps cover damage to the RV and gives you real financial peace of mind on the road. During checkout you'll choose between different coverage levels so you can match protection to your comfort zone and budget, whether that's a quick weekend at Gros Ventre Campground or a two-week loop through Grand Teton and Yellowstone. You select the coverage level, not the host, which keeps you in control of how protected your Wyoming RV trip feels.

What if I need to cancel my Moose Wilson Road RV rental?

Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy, and there's a money-back grace period right after you book in case plans shift. If a wildfire closure, early snowstorm on Teton Pass, or another disruption impacts your trip, RVezy's support team works with you on options. Exact refund amounts depend on how far out you cancel from pickup, and the full policy is laid out in the Help Center and inside your trip dashboard. The takeaway: you can lock in that prime July weekend near Grand Teton National Park now, knowing you have flexibility if life happens between now and your pickup date.

Can I bring my dog on a Moose Wilson Road RV trip?

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rental options exist near Moose Wilson Road, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see hosts who welcome four-legged passengers. Inside Grand Teton National Park, pets must stay leashed (6 feet or shorter) and are only allowed in vehicles, parking lots, campgrounds, and within 30 feet of roadways, not on trails or in the backcountry, so plan dog walks at places like Gros Ventre Campground loops or the multi-use pathway from Moose toward Jenny Lake. For off-leash adventures, nearby Bridger-Teton National Forest land just outside the park offers more flexibility. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and bring a portable shade setup for hot August afternoons.

Can the RV be delivered to me near Moose Wilson Road?

Yes, RV delivery near Moose Wilson Road is widely available on RVezy, and it's often the smartest move for first-time renters. Many Jackson Hole hosts will drive the RV straight to your campsite at Gros Ventre Campground, Colter Bay RV Park, or Fireside Resort in Wilson, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. That means no white-knuckle driving through downtown Jackson or up Teton Pass on day one. Filter for Delivery on RVezy, then message the host with your campground or address to confirm the delivery fee, which usually scales with distance. It's the easiest way to start a stress-free Moose Wilson Road RV trip.

How far can I drive from Moose Wilson Road on an RV road trip?

From Moose Wilson Road you're perfectly positioned for some of the West's best RV road trips. Yellowstone's South Entrance is roughly 57 miles north via US-89/191, the Old Faithful area is about 100 miles (around 2.5 hours), and Cody, Wyoming via the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway sits roughly 175 miles northeast. Heading south, Salt Lake City is around 280 miles, and the Idaho side of the Tetons through Driggs is a scenic loop over Teton Pass (WY-22). Many hosts on RVezy offer unlimited mileage, which is a real budget-saver on a big loop. Note: the Moose-Wilson Road itself is closed to RVs, trailers, and any vehicle over 23 feet, so plan to enter Grand Teton via US-89 from the south.

Where should I camp with my RV near Moose Wilson Road?

You have fantastic options for RV camping in the Moose Wilson Road area. Gros Ventre Campground, about 11.5 miles southeast of Moose, is the park's largest with around 300 sites, electric hookups at some sites, and a dump station, typically open early May through early October. Colter Bay RV Park (about 25 miles north) offers full hookups for rigs up to 45 feet. Signal Mountain Campground adds lake views with electric sites at a portion of its loops. Just outside the park, Fireside Resort in Wilson has full hookups year-round, and Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch sits between Grand Teton and Yellowstone for easy two-park access. Reserve all park campgrounds on Recreation.gov up to six months ahead, especially for July and August dates.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip to Moose Wilson Road?

Late June through mid-September is the sweet spot for an RV trip to Moose Wilson Road, when daytime highs sit around 75 to 82 F and nights cool into the 40s, which is ideal sleeping weather. The Moose-Wilson Road itself is typically open from mid-May through October 31 and closes November 1 through mid-May depending on snow conditions. September is a local favorite, with golden aspens along the road, fewer crowds, and bugling elk in Grand Teton National Park. Spring (May to early June) brings baby wildlife and wildflowers but lingering snow on higher trails. Pro tip: book your RVezy rental and Recreation.gov campsite around the six-month-out mark for July dates, because both fill remarkably fast.
nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/operating-hours-and-seasons.htm

I'm a first-timer, will I actually be able to handle the RV?

You'll be just fine, even if this is your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, the propane system, and dumping tanks, plus you can message them mid-trip with questions. For nervous drivers, choose delivery so the host parks and sets up the RV at your campground, then you only need to drive day trips. Stick to US-89/191 and Teton Park Road inside Grand Teton, which are wide and RV-friendly, and remember the actual Moose-Wilson Road is off-limits to RVs, trailers, and vehicles over 23 feet, so you don't have to navigate that narrow stretch. Most first-time renters wish they had booked sooner.
nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/directions.htm

What happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?

You're covered. Every RVezy rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on US-89 near Moran Junction or a dead battery at Jenny Lake gets handled with one phone call. The roadside team coordinates tow, tire, jump-start, lockout, and fuel-delivery services across Wyoming and the greater Jackson Hole region. Your host is also a direct message away for quick fixes like resetting a generator or troubleshooting the fridge. Cell service is reliable around Jackson, Moose, and Wilson, though it gets spotty deep in the park, so screenshot your booking details and the RVezy support number before heading into Grand Teton or up to Yellowstone.

Can I take my Moose Wilson Road RV rental into Canada or other states?

Yellowstone, Idaho, Montana, and Utah are all fair game from Moose Wilson Road, and many RVezy hosts allow multi-state road trips, just confirm with them through the listing message before booking. Cross-border travel into Canada depends on the host and the protection plan selected, so ask directly and get written confirmation in the RVezy chat. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Popular routes from here include the Grand Teton to Yellowstone to Beartooth Highway loop (around 320 miles) and the Jackson to Glacier National Park run up US-89 (around 400 miles). Pro tip: ask about mileage caps before crossing state lines.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What should I budget for fuel on a Moose Wilson Road RV trip?

Realistic budgeting helps the trip feel smooth. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A rigs 6 to 9 mpg, while travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas in Jackson Hole typically runs higher than the national average, so fuel up in Jackson, Hoback Junction, or Driggs (Idaho side, often cheaper) before heading into Grand Teton, since in-park stations at Colter Bay and Signal Mountain are seasonal. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop in a Class C, expect roughly $200 to $300 in fuel. Pro tip: drive Teton Park Road early morning at the posted limit to save gas and maximize wildlife sightings.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Moose Wilson Road?

Earlier than you think. Grand Teton National Park campgrounds, including Gros Ventre, Colter Bay, Signal Mountain, Jenny Lake, Lizard Creek, Headwaters, and Colter Bay RV Park, take reservations on Recreation.gov on a rolling six-month booking window. For prime July and August dates, sites typically vanish within minutes of release, so set a calendar reminder for the six-month-out mark. Private options like Fireside Resort and Jackson Hole area RV parks in Wilson often book three to six months out for summer. Pro tip: if you strike out, check Recreation.gov early each morning for cancellation releases, or pair RVezy delivery with a stay at a private RV park just outside Jackson.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/2725

What are the local driving conditions like around Moose Wilson Road?

Driving here is genuinely manageable as long as you know two things. First, the actual Moose-Wilson Road is closed to RVs, trailers, buses, and any vehicle over 23 feet, and a narrow section limits two-way traffic, so plan to enter Grand Teton via US-89/191 and the Moose Entrance instead. Second, Teton Pass (WY-22) climbs to 8,431 feet with grades up to 10%, which larger motorhomes can handle in low gear but trailers should approach cautiously, especially in afternoon thunderstorms. Wildlife on the road is the biggest hazard, expect moose, elk, and bison anywhere, especially at dawn and dusk. Watch for sudden hailstorms in summer and snow squalls into June. Stick to posted limits inside the park and you'll be in good shape.
nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/directions.htm

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Moose Wilson Road?

Campground amenities range from full-service to rustic, so you can match your style. Colter Bay RV Park and Headwaters offer full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), showers, laundry, and a camp store. Gros Ventre offers some electric sites, flush toilets, potable water fill stations, and a dump station, but no showers. Signal Mountain provides electric sites at a portion of its loops, a dump station, and lake access. Jenny Lake is tents-only and Lizard Creek has no hookups or showers, so skip those for RVs. Outside the park, Fireside Resort in Wilson delivers full hookups plus premium bathhouses. Dump stations are available at Gros Ventre, Colter Bay, Signal Mountain, and Headwaters, and water fills are at every developed park campground.
nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/camping.htm

What's included inside the RV I rent near Moose Wilson Road?

Most RVs near Moose Wilson Road come fully equipped for self-contained Teton adventures. Expect a queen or king sleeping area, convertible dinette or bunk beds for kids, a full kitchen with stove, oven or microwave, fridge, and freezer, a wet or dry bathroom with shower and toilet, furnace, air conditioning, and a propane water heater. Most Class C and Class A motorhomes include an onboard generator (handy at Gros Ventre, where shore power is limited), and many hosts include outdoor camp chairs, a grill, kitchen kit, and bedding. WiFi and TVs vary by listing, so plan for offline downloads since Grand Teton has spotty cell coverage. Every motorhome has seatbelts for travel, and you'll get a full walkthrough at pickup.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

RVezy hosts in the Jackson Hole and Moose Wilson Road area offer add-ons that make trip planning easier. Common extras include bike racks, camp chair and table sets, kitchen kits, bear spray (essential here), generators with prepaid fuel, portable WiFi devices, and propane refills. Pickup is usually in Jackson, Wilson, or Driggs, but many hosts deliver right to Grand Teton campgrounds for a fee that scales with distance. Mileage policies vary, some hosts include a set number of free miles per night while others offer unlimited mileage, which can save you serious money on a Yellowstone-Teton loop. Always review the listing's add-ons, mileage, and pickup details before booking, and message the host with anything you're unsure about.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Moose%20Wilson%20Road%2C%20Wyoming

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment runs entirely through RVezy, so you never hand cash or cards to the host. You'll pay the rental cost, taxes, host add-ons, and protection plan via credit card at booking, with the security deposit pre-authorized (not charged) on your card before pickup. Deposits vary by RV value and the protection level you choose. As long as you return the rig clean, on time, with the same fuel and propane levels, and without unreported damage, the hold is released after your trip ends. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos at pickup and dropoff, it makes any future questions easy to resolve.

Can I rent an RV near Moose Wilson Road in winter?

Yes, winter RV rentals near Moose Wilson Road are possible and can be magical, just plan carefully. The Moose-Wilson Road itself closes November 1 through mid-May, and most national park campgrounds shut down by mid-October, but Fireside Resort in Wilson stays open year-round with plowed sites and full hookups, making it a great basecamp for skiing Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Look for four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and reliable furnaces, and confirm the host runs antifreeze in the plumbing. Daytime highs in January average in the 20s F and nights often drop below zero, so prioritize shore power for continuous heat. Pro tip: ask the host about ski racks and snow tires, many Jackson-area hosts equip their rigs for winter adventurers.
